I was the same. But that's a good thing. If I was too confident I would've been doing many things wrong with my first child. I searched and Googled several things. Now I'm a bit more confident with the knowledge I've acquired (and continue to acquire). Congrats on your baby :)

You can't stand in most vehicle backseats, for parents or grandparents thinking same, the rest is accurate and not that hard to do with a practice run. As a parent, aunt, and now grandma of 8, I've used about every style of car seat out there over the decades. You CAN safely travel without the base. They are a convenience more than anything. You got this, You can do it! 💪

What about the space underneath between the infant seat and the car seat? How do you ensure the infant seat doesn't come loose when pushed from behind and downwards causing it to topple. When I tried to install the seat, it secured firmly but that space underneath needed to be packed with a towel rolled up.

Most carseats will come with a locking clip to be used in that situation. Please refer to your owner's manual or contact the carseat manufacturer.

+Christina Hively Cars made after ~1997 almost always have locking belts. His likely locks at the latchplate. Not sure why TCSL did not address this in the video :/
