    This kid is so strong, fast, and humble. He is gonna be a superstar. Already a great player. Kid is only 21 years old too. Orioles got a special one here.

    You/re damn right MDR I am PUMPED to be an O's fan. Had a brief run in the mid 2010's where we were exciting, but the feeling is like nothing I've had before as an O's fan. The glory days with Cal I guess, but was too young to appreciate. This is something special in the works!

    Have to remember Gunnar had a wrist injury during Spring Training, but played through it during the start of the season. Wrist injury affects bat speed, bat speed affects timing, timing affects power.
    All the numbers really show is you can tell he's back to 100%.

    Hope the AL East had fun beating up on us over the last 5-6 years cause the Orioles will own this division for the next 10 years ! We haven’t even hit our peak yet which is scary for the division

      @@bobjohnson-we7yk i thought acquiring Andrew Miller in 2014 would of helped advance the Orioles to the World Series but the Royals kicked our ass. But yes as Orioles fans we should be excited about the direction of the team but have caution as well but I’ll enjoy the ride with the baby Birds kicking ass

    Tremendous young group…Adley/Gunnar/Cowser with Holliday waiting in the wings. They need to spend $$$ on the rotation over the next couple years to support this group.

    Thank you 0's org. Our hitters are trained to spit on balls not in strike zone. That is why you will see Gunnar and Adley looki ng at 3rd strikes some of the time. They know the strike zone better than the ump! You will see it with Westburg, Cowser and Jackson Holliday in the future.

      The only thing Mateo and Henderson have in common is they both play short and they both wear Oriole uniforms. Henderson will pass Mateo's career hit total by the end of next season, even if Mateo is still playing somewhere (HINT: it won't be in Baltimore).

  • @stephenkasper6081

    Not a big fan of his swing, it looks like he opens up his front side early and gets a little pull happy. The 2nd homer looked better than the first. His mechanics look like he struggles to adjust to pitches he isn't sitting on.

    • @truekingofthejungle9038
      @truekingofthejungle9038 Před 10 měsíci

      Maybe, but he has easy power to the opposite field line, so it doesn't hurt him if so. Maybe in consistency, but that could just be him being a young player figuring out the league.

    • @brandondillman5841
      @brandondillman5841 Před 10 měsíci +5

      He hits the ball hard to all fields pretty evenly if you look at his spray chart. Not many guys in baseball can take a 97 mph heater on the black and poke it to the opposite field for a home run. He does roll over on good breaking balls and off speed pitches, but that's something he can improve as he matures as a hitter. He did just turn 22 last week and hasn't played a full season in the majors yet.

    • @adamletschin7759
      @adamletschin7759 Před 10 měsíci +2

      His spray chart shows the exact opposite of your claim. He barrells to all fields..

    • @matrixphijr
      @matrixphijr Před 10 měsíci

      His bottom half looks like he flies open but his top half is able to stay back and be through the baseball. It’s just a quirk of his swing. It looks like he does, or should, but he really doesn’t. So his coaches have never tried to change that.

    • @mikecross6382
      @mikecross6382 Před 10 měsíci

      I think his swing is just fine atm, and the data supports the exact opposite of being "pull happy". I mean, that lead off HR against the Yankees down the left field line wasn't a "one off", he's hit quite a few oppo homers and sprays the ball all over the field so far on his first big league season. I'd say for a young rookie at only 22 yrs old, he looks to be only getting better and better with more AB's. This kid could be really special by the time he's 24-25 yrs old. Every level he's moved up in pro ball, he's historically started slow and adjusted, eventually putting up great numbers. He's on the same path in the big leagues, no reason to think he won't continue to rake. Oh yeah, anyone see him play defense at SS or 3rd base? The Orioles infield will be special when Holliday arrives in a year or so. Henderson at 3rd, Holliday at SS, and Westburg at 2nd.....I'll take that all day. Think about the outfield they have as well, besides one starting in the all-star game, Austin Hayes, then you have Mullins, Cowser, Santander, etc. I'm probably forgetting more, like Kjerstad on the way up soon who's raking in the minors with many others. The entire organization is now stacked with top talent. Their GM Elias and staff have done an incredible job since being hired.

    The older mark derosa gets the better he was. In a few more years he'll be convinced he should be a hall of famer.
