      We should. We haven’t used them much. Mostly slabs.

    Hey, and when you are looking for new spots how fast are you going? like full speed? trolling speed?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Před rokem

      Hey Mark. We turn on the big motor if we are in a dry area needing to cover ground we go about 3mph. If I think the fish are still in area I’ll use trolling motor and go .7 or so to still have a chance to catch fish while combing through the area.
      Sometimes if wind works out I’ll drift out from deep to shallower or vice versa to find depth patterns.

    Awesome fishing videos! I really appreciate all of the tips you offer to everyone. Do you have much luck deadsticking at Fort Cobb or Canton Lake in the winter months? Thanks!

      I’m glad the videos are helping out! So I’ve never deadsticked Canton but I’ll do some this winter. Fort Cobb is tougher in the winter. There is a guide on that lake that I ran into last winter fishing Foss instead of Fort Cobb. Foss is a great deadstick lake. Not a lot of baitfish. We went to Foss yesterday first time Deadsticking this year and did great.

      Nice! I usually drive to Texoma but it’s quite a drive from OKC area. Thanks for the reply. Glad y’all tore it up at Foss.

      These hybrids are bigger on average than striper at Texoma is producing currently. I love to go to Texoma, but it’s hard to drive by all these good Hybrid lakes to catch fish there.

    What brand and model of cast net do you use to catch those shad in deeper water?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Před rokem +1

      Humpback seems to catch more bait than baitbuster or black Pearl. Over 25’ you’ll need to tape your cheap net to keep net open deeper.

    Your killing me using the shad!
    Water Temperature Question:
    Our lake is still at 60 degrees with warm weather predicted through the weekend.
    In Febuary 2019 I was fishing below the dam on Lake Somerville (same time I caught the Water Body Record Striper). We fished lures in the fast moving water, but I have no clue where the water Temps were. The lake was so full all the boat ramps were closed.
    Let's pretend there were no shad available! Joking!
    Do you see guys using lures in that water temp?
    What depth would you be looking in?
    Water conditions have not changed much since my lat trip since I will be looking for then suspended in 30FOW.

      @@charlesfoster8814 Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!!
      In 30fow I would be slabbing and Deadsticking with 1.5oz jig heads and flukes. We are about done with the Shad for the year and pulling out jig heads and flukes until spring.

      @@BooneBoys Even with our 60 degree water? Deadsticking is normally dead of winter, right?
      We are having a warmer than normal fall. The Temps went from heat of summer to late fall in like 3 days. But the water temp has stabilized for the last couple weeks at 60 degrees.
