Yeah just careful as you go, but remember it’s just lumps of metal, it’ll do what you tell it eventually.

Please guys/gal's,, Find another "how to" video !! NEVER use a Steel pick on aluminum especially on or near any seal/seat surfaces..Especially usinga hammer !!. There are both Brass or Copper picks available picks for this application. They may need to be re-sharpened to a point again depending on how difficult you copper; aluminum or lead seals are but they are Much less likely to damage your aluminum head seat surface !! Also,, One incredibly important note that should've been included in the video is the importance of making absolutely sure the Copper; Lead, or aluminum Seal IS facing the CORRECT DIRECTION !! There's a Seam on one side of the seal. That seam Must face Outwards Towards your Exhaust Manifold pipe (away from motor) NOT pointing INWARD toward the motor. Otherwise the seal will quickly blow again !! and of course,,cleaning BOTH of the seal surface thoroughly with a soft bristle brass or aluminum before reinstalling seals. In my search I found several other videos that are much more detailed as to "how to" and include saftey measures a few of which ive included here. Hope this helps save you some headaches

A steel pick on aluminium does it no harm, and these came out just fine, aluminium isn't butter, and mild steel picks aren’t hard either. Firstly this wasn’t a how to, it was me just doing. I made it clear at 3:15 I’m being careful not to scratch, referencing the breadth of material. As for your issue as to what should have been included about replacing the gasket, I’m not even doing that here so not sure why all the SHOUTY CAPS as to how I should have explained the correct way to do it, facing them in/out, cleaning surfaces, when I’m not including that in the video at all. As far as which way round to fit a gasket, it’s incorrect to say the seam mustn’t face in, it makes zero difference. Please feel free to prove what you are saying. I’ve been rebuilding engines for years, and have seen zero evidence of that. If you have to take the time to watch this sort of video or go on the hunt for them, it suggests you’ve never actually done it. Either way, if I had damaged my head, a very quick spin over with a sanding disk would sort it out. I’d highly recommend you don’t watch me using a Stanley blade to clean up an engine case mating surface, or the way I cut a chain off, or grind a wheel bearing out, you might shit your pants. Over the years I have successfully rebuilt dozens of engines, with flame, hammers, grinders and welders, so I think you chap are a bit of a Princess. Good luck with your copper safety picks and toxic lead gaskets though. Thanks for the comment, it gave me a giggle.
