I really really hope the dragons have vibrant colours unlike the later seasons of GoT, where Rhaegal and Viserion’s distinguishing colours were diluted to a more brownish colour :/
I still don't know which one was killed by the night king and which one by Euron. You had 3 dragons: Drogon + 2* the same dragon
I hope they make the dragons look like in game of thrones because I loved how they looked in the show
Caraxes and vhagar both would have taken Danny/ Drogon down. Maybe even sunfyre aswell. I like how these dragons will be fighting other dragons not scorpions and spears thrown by zombies

Viserion was killed by the night king and Rhaegal was killed by Euron.

I wanna see cannibal , he's the most mysterious dragon in that time , he was not only the only dragon that exibed cannibalism but he was completely savage and just disappeared after the dance.
He might have been on dragonstone pre-Targaryens also
@@JoeyWhisperz That's only a theory, and a hard-to-believe-one at that. The Cannibal would have to be hundreds of years old, larger than Balerion, and Westeros would most certainly know of his existence.
But no one there's ever seen a dragon before Aegon's conquest.

As nice as that will be I don't think we'll see Balerion. I'm guessing they're probably saving him for a potential Aegon's Conquest type of show. Fingers crossed because seeing the black dread burn Harrenhal would be greater than any flashback.

My favorite dragon has to be Cannibal because of the mystery surrounding him. There is a theory Cannibal isn't apart of the Targaryen linage of dragons, but came from another family (possibly House Baelerys). Which would explain why no Targaryen have been able to claim him.

Nobody ever claimed Cannibal. He stayed wild and nobody's mount. He is said to have possibly been there before them.

The game of thrones dragons were so toned down to their book versions in real took to color and character, it was sad that we didn’t get the viserion golden shine and drogons red shine in the night sky

If we see Balerion I really hope they go all of the way. This dragon was said to have been large enough to swallow a mammoth whole and that was during the conquest when he was younger and thus smaller than at the end. This dragon should be absolutely MASSIVE and anything less than what's described will be a huge disappointment, imo.

@@nofacenocase5839 Balerion was the largest of all the Targaryen dragons that came to Westeros. He was also the longest lived, being around 200 years old when he died.
Balerion died like 30years before the show takes place. But i hope to see some flashbacks
He died about 30 years before series start by old age.
The dragon I'm most excited to see is Sunfyre. It's gonna be a spectacle to see that golden lizard.

Ned being meleyes cause it's considered she could have taken and defeated vhagar in a solo fight. No one knows if it's 100% but same can be said for Ned vs Jamie. We will never know because sunfyre came ....... Spoiler:

My favorite dragon is Tessarion because of her beautiful blue color, but I’m excited to see Balerion, Vhaegar, Dreamfyre, and Carraxes.
The Dreamfire theory makes complete thematic sense through naming conventions. The Targ dreams of the future birth of Dragons from the flames… fits perfectly.

They’re definitely going to give her and her sister a lot more screen time. Actually leaks claim instead of Joffrey telling on Aemond about riding Vhagar it will be Aemond and Rhaena who go at it to see who will ride her mother’s dragon
I really hope this series taking on a story with so many dragons will go into proper detail differentiating their unique looks & characteristics and possibly even down to temperament and behavior. That is something I really hope to see , going into that intricate detail with the dragons. So many dragons I want to see , I also want and think we will get some sort of glimpse of Balerion even if in a brief flashback , and of course by the DotD Vhagar is the biggest and oldest dragon who was even involved in the Conquest which should make for an epic dragon on-screen. I certainly want to see Caraxes , Meleys, Vermithor and Silverwing and others.
From somewhat of an aesthetic perspective I really look forward to seeing Sunfyre on screen if HotD does that textual description justice ; just seems it could be a really interesting visual if they capture Sunfyre's look (based on the text) properly.
yeah I mean if they give the CGI artists those descriptions, I don't see why they wouldn't use them. As you say, you need them to be different. It's a major draw of the show. And yeah I have heard they will look more differentiated (Dany's 3 were all the same cgi dragon)
@@DavidLightbringer lets hope , my fear as you mentioned would be a GoT repeat where aside from the sizes and slight color variations the dragons are essentially identical. Though I do hold out hope those involved in HotD , Condal in particular are such fans and students of this universe that they will make sure to go into such detail and differentiation with the dragons and other aspects of this narrative as well.
GoT seemed to run on a fairly tight budget , by the end it was a miracle if we got more than a glimpse of a direwolf for example. But HotD will need quite a bit more and I am sure Condal and Sapochnik would not have agreed to take this on if they had to half-a** it. Plus HBO was taken over twice since GoT ended , so clean slate all around for me. I just hope and do think they will go into such level of detail.
I think they will do more than GOT but probably not as nerdy as the community!

Just a small correction: Rhaenyra and Daemon flying their dragons around the Narrow sea like their 'uncle and aunt' is actually like their mother/grandmother for Alyssa, and uncle/grand-uncle/grandfather-in-law for Aemon.
This show is gonna be so WILD with all the dragons!! I’ve had friends ask why is the show taking so long, and all I can retort is that HBO is having to CGI about 25 dragons. That usually shuts my mates up.

Ok, so the dragon I want to see the most is Daemon’s. He’s a blood thirsty SOB, and so is Caraxes. You gotta think the bond between them as a dragon and dragon rider is their mutual love of killing shit. 🫶🏻

Damon & Caraxes are by far my favorite Dragon/Rider duo in ASOIAF they are both Savage & extremely battle tested, I really hope they don't skip over the Stepstones stuff. Great video!!
I think some of the leaked set photos are looking like a sea battle which people think is some version of the war for the stepstones, so fingers crossed!

Excited to see dragons in HOTD. By the way, the dragon Morning was actually not the last dragon, Rhaena was able to mount her by the end of the book Fire and Blood and the last dragon was the size of a cat and sickly.

GRRM has been keeping details of the last dragons pretty close to his chest. TWOIAF mentions it in passing, but I imagine Blood & Fire would have to actually go into the details, which is one of the reasons I wasn't expecting it until after ADOS. Hopefully we can learn why House Targaryen lost the ability to hatch dragons.

My favourite dragon is Seasmoke so I'm really looking forward to seeing him, although I'm issuing a general warning for tears when we get to Tumbleton. (I also really hope they show the scene between Vermithor and Silverwing once the battle is over because FEELS!!)
I think it has to do with "magic" blood as opposed to pure valyrian blood. House Strong is a first men house so there is that blood mixed with the Targaryen. Also, one of Jaeherys' daughters married into House Arryn so Rhaenyra's mother had dragon/"magic" blood. And obvs Velaryon is of valyrian descent.

I'm pretty sure Vermathor is the second biggest/oldest dragon behind Vhagar at the time of House of the Dragon, not Caraxes. He just doesn't get a rider until later in the story. I hope the show stays true to the story with regard to all the dragons' colors and sizes. It's going to be epic!!!!!

House of the Flying D’s is the best name for a HotD series.
A red dragon on black is a high contrast house sigil, which is handy on the battlefield.
Strictly speaking based on heraldic convention, red on black would not be considered high contrast, historically you would see only white (argent, or silver) or yellow (or, gold in French) on a black background.

These dragons have to be huge imo. The dragons in GoT were no more than 10 by the end of the series, most of the dragons in House of Dragons are 30-60, so they should all be atleast twice as big as Drogon.
Sadly no. The only one that will be noticeably bigger than drogon will be vhagar. Danys dragons were way to big for their age.
@@vincent-qz7tr arguably though, dragons are like different breeds of horses, where some are bigger than others although they all classify under the same family. I think my concern is will the audience be able to tell them apart
@@kristianawilson9038 I think they'll be able to tell them apart from the design. They won't be copy pasted versions of danys dragons. Caraxes and syrax for example look totally different as we've seen in trailers, vhagar is enormous etc.

I really hope to see Sunfyre, Caraxes, Melys and Balerion. Especially Caraxes ' lightning reflexes versus Vhagar' s strength and experience in that particular battle. Off topic, I'm curious if we'll find out anything more about the Harrenhal witch and Girl Nettles, and their eventual fates.

You are my go-to-guy when it comes to getting reacquainted with “A Song of Ice and Fire”, etc. I used to be obsessed and eventually I had to branch out and read other fantasy whilst patiently waiting for WoW…….and “The Doors of Stone”. The first author I got hooked on was Joe Abercrombie and his nine “First Law” books. I don’t know if you are familiar with him but he is awesome. He is not as in depth as George, however in my opinion his character work is second to none and he has a great sense of humor. The best books I read all year have been John Gwynne’s “ The Shadow of the Gods” and coming in at number one is Richard Swan’s “The Justice of Kings”. I believe it is Swan’s fantasy debut. I highly recommend both. Anyways, I will donate to your cause later this week, I appreciate your hard work and in depth analysis! I threw you a bit of $$$ a few weeks ago under the name Ryan, I would love to give more, however I work 70 mins away from home and my gas bill is on the verge of costing as much as my apartment haha! Keep up the good work!

Not gonna lie, wasn't too impressed with syrax and caraxes. Thought rhaegal and drogon from the original show looked much better.
