Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home - All Finishing Moves

- Here's a compilation of every single finishing move in the game. In all honesty, this is what makes this game shine in comparison to the actual game play. Suffice it to say, the finish is what gets your blood pumping; unlike during the bout which is a grinding catastrophe to see who gains a hold of their maneuver first.
Anyway, kick back and enjoy the video! Bones will break, and blood will be shed in this monstrosity of a wrestling game! Although this game does feature ICP, which alone stands for a ludicrous experience to say the least...
There are so many badass things I found out about the Backyard Wrestling games thanks to the creator himself Kevin Gill, who is the commentator for GCW Wrestling.
-This game was originally going to be a ECW game as Kevin is a massive wrestling fan and watched a lot of ECW when the company was still active before it was bought out by WWE in 2001. He approached Paul Heyman and he got on quite well with him but sadly it never came to fruition thanks to Acclaim owning the license at the time.
-This game was going to be originally developed by AKI Corporation! That's right, the same developers who worked on WWF No Mercy and WCW/NWO Revenge on the Nintendo 64 along with the first two Def Jam games on PlayStation 2. He contacted them but they never got back to him. He went to Eidos Interactive, pitched his idea to them, which was wrestling meets Power Stone with a grungier vibe to it and showed them famous hardcore moments from WWE as reference points. They loved it and went into production straight away.
-The Mansion arena was the first thing made for the game.
-The Backyard arena was originally going to have a wrestling ring you could interact with but was cut for unknown reasons.
-The presenter in Talk Show Mode, Kelvin Finn, IS Kevin Gill himself. He couldn't use his own likeness as he wasn't allowed according to the financial director.
-There was actually a wrestling competition going on during E3 when the game was in development, which he and Eidos organized. This can be found on the IGN article pagelist for the game.
-The Strip Club arena is based on an actual strip club called the Peppermint Ridge in Los Angeles.
-ICP and the other wrestlers involved in the game were great to work with.
I have a playlist dedicated to the game on my channel that shows off many things that were changed or cut from the final game. Here it is: czcams.com/play/PLLRkqQjo9BqPnGpqZXgEUVyvDelHe0ZBq.html
it also helped that Shaggy Dope and J had prior Wrestling experience in the WWF before starting JCW
Man I don’t care what game critics say about this game or the sequel this game is underground classic
@@Lijsavv Fuck the critics!
If anyone's here in 2023. Then happy 20th anniversary for Backyard wrestling don't try this at home, alongside with Downhill Domination, Call of duty, Def Jam vendetta, War of the Monster, Freaky Flyers, SpongeBob SquarePants battle for bikini bottom and the Simpsons hit and run.
I remember playing this game back in my first year elementary School, my brother brought this game and we had fun. We used to compare the finishing moves from Def Jam vendetta. But i really don't care what people think but Backyard wrestling and Def Jam vendetta and Fight for NY are still my favorite fighting games. And i actually did my happy birthday to Violent J a few months back in April. Who never thought that video games didn't tell us about real life rappers.
This song is from the Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike for anyone looking for it.
Thank you for doing this, I was hoping someone would do all finishing moves for backyard wrestling 👌
Your welcome! That was also the reason why I made this video; haven't seen anyone cover all the sick finishers this game had!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video!
Man me and brothers use to love this game
@@mcknightmorgan2021 same here bro, good times. We literally lived to see to last of a "Golden Era"
0:17 Now that was perfect.
This is the finishers from Def Jam FFNY but just rough drafts.
They really seem like that, huh? FFNY had amazing blazin' moves, on top of what is arguably one of the most fun fighting games ever!
@@MagierT0 they also have the same way to activate the fighting moves
Def Jam FFNY engine is what BYW should've been.
Wow that looks great undefeated undisputed amazing and awesome ❤
I would also love if you do gameplay fights on backyard wrestling with random created fighters 👌
remind me of Def Jam fight for NY
@Glockjaw Yes, and Backyard 1 and 2 are really better
Hey, I actually liked Backyard wrestling and Def Jam vendetta both back then, I don't care what people think that Def Jam vendetta had better finishing moves then Backyard wrestling. Because I actually do like familiar games like those 2 having an all out brawl. Not set up in a ring without no stupid referees.
damn I forgot how brutal some of the moves are
This game was Def Jam Vendetta before Def Jam Vendetta
Can you also do the other backyard wrestling?
I may do some more with the franchise, however I'm not sure due to life problems taking away some time.
Stay tuned!
Whats the song
It is the credit roll theme from Street Fighter Third Strike.
Name of the song..?
These finishers look way too similar to def jam fight for ny specials 🤔
They certainly do!
How do you preform a finisher?
Once your character's health meter begins to flash red, grapple your opponent and press Square and X together simultaneously. If that does not work, I've seen within some forums that holding R2 may perform a finisher, too.
1:17 what is this move
It's Mdogg20's finisher, forgot what it's called for Created Characters.
I just wanted to see the characters do their finishers. IDC about these shitty OCs.😂
Valid
1:17 what is this finisher
Its Mdogg20's finisher, forgot what it's called for Created Characters.
