I have just change over our old analogue system in our alarm control room (42 cams with 6 fisheyes giving 60ish live views). So the tweaks to good performance as well as the extra show n tell feature for demo to clients are yet to come. Really enjoyed your plan speak explanation videos. Been hard to get Hik certified courses but should be doing that for each tech May & June. This will help us advance our knowledge for that better delivery.

Hi , and thanks for this , you don’t have to have it connected to the internet If on the same network internally , if you are going off-site then of course we need to have it connected to a router on both sides. For this you can use HIK-Connect account on the remote DVR / NVR and then login to that account on the IVMS-4200 PC. Or you can use a Fixed IP address on the remote router Public IP and add the device to the software with this Fixed IP and do the port forward rules to suit.

Great tutorial, - however, iVMS4200 is the slowest to load, slowest to close, most unresponsive VMS sw I have ever used...Not sure why this is, or what can be done to correct it, but it is why the first thing done by companies that hikvision "oems for" is they write their own software.
Hi , it’s a fair point , there is always improvements when new versions come up and when installed on a good Spec PC it does perform better , it’s certainly not the worst performing VMS I have seen , they have now introduced a 64Bit Decode engine which improved performance , like always thanks for the feedback and we always push to get this better
Hi Dave, we are trying to put a cctv on an area with no internet access. We are thinking placing a cctv there and after awhile, we manually collect the DVR to review the events. My question: 1. Will the hardisk lose data when unplugged during transit of DVR? 2. What is the fastest speed acceleration for video review? 3. Is it possible to use a battery to power the camera and DVR? Thanks
so in short no data will be lost by removing power and transporting it , so all good, yes you can use battery power 12VDC to power most cameras and some NVR / DVR , the mobile models are probably the best ones to consider for this , some do x16 , and more so it should be ok 😊
Sorry to bug you again... Have you ever setup your HIKvision with the AWS services yet? I have been screwing around with the new blazer pro and iVMS-4500 . I just want wanted to make sure I don’t select a plan that will bite me financially . AWS has a huge potential because of the speed and availability for the multi location businesses. Their freaking billing is kind of weird so I just wanted to know if can may be make a video about it. You seem to be pretty knowledgable. I am more of an IT guy but we install a lot of IP cameras as well.

And all groups must be connected to 2 NVR 32 CH, model 7732 ni / I 4. If you don't mind could you help me how is going to work or what should I do to be these cameras work correctly.
Hello, sounds like a nice job to be honest , I would add all the cameras to the NVR in the 1st instance , then add the NVRS to the IMVS-4200 as this will also pull the information with it. Then under Group tab on device management , right click on each encoding channel and select update camera name to pull through the OSD names you have set on the NVR. Do you want to setup groups for each set of cameras?

I will install these cameras 38 or 40 on big hospital building and these cameras are distributed on the building in to 3 groups and the distance of the cameras is 50m and some is 70m. It is difficult to connect the camera to the NVR because of longe distance from camera to the monitoring room . I will send to you the plan of the building of you want.
Great extensive video .Thanks a lot. What can be the issue if none of the cameras are showing in Live view in the main view? All other configurations are working. DVR 7A16HGHI-F1. It used to work before. (pre-pandemic days) They simply say Cameras disconnected.
your video saved me some major pain, thank you so much! now, i had to mount two DS-2DE3304W-DE IP dome cameras vertically and now both of the live view images are being displayed sideways.. i have searched everywhere for the settings to flip the images 90 degrees to the left, but i cant find it in any of the hikvision software...
Most of the PTZ doesn’t support mirror function as when inverted you don’t get the tilt down limit needed, if you web browse into the Camera itself and go to image setting, in there if there is a mirror or rotate option under configuration > image > then you can adjust as needed , but this Doesn’t mostly get supported to be honest and we don’t have this model here to test for you 😊

Thank you for the extensive tutorial - we have the same system in our company. I have a video clip - In Remote playback how can I zoom in and get a clear image of a particular part of the video clip. I used the Open Digital zoom but the picture is distorted - how can I make it clearer via the iVMS-4200.
Hi and thanks for the feedback , we can only use the digital zoom inside 4200 and if this is blurred then I can’t do anything more inside this software itself , there are other software’s that can be used outside of this that are made to clear / clean video up for evidence that the police / government use , but these are forensic level tools , and will cost a lot 😊
Hi Dave, another great video, helped me a lot....I do have one question for you. I'm sure you have clients that prefer to use the Mac Version of the iVMS-4200 software. Can you tell me, assuming you are familiar with Mac OS version, I'm sure you are, where I can input the Stream Key. On my Mac version, under Device Management I DO NOT have the two tabs that show Divide / Group. On my MacBook Air which I portioned and installed windows, I have those tabs, and when I go into Encoding channel, I have the option to modify a camera, and input the Stream Key. I CANNOT find this on the Mac version software. Are you able to help at all. Thanks in advance. Keep up these great vids by the way...
Thanks for the feedback mike, currently the MAC versions are not updated as frequently as the Windows versions, out of interest what version number are you using on the MAC ? I will go and then find out once I know as there are a couple of recent releases on the MAC platform.

I was under the impression that Remote Playback could play the video stored on the SD card. Is that true? Is there a way to play the video on the SD cards? Seems like a logical thing the app should be able to do.
OK this is a help file now - I sorted it, on the opening screen put a port number that's NOT in use or you will go around in circles as below, ok Dave!! (I put 8081) THEN THE VIRGIN LOGIN SCREEN COMES UP. Suggest you do a 3201 demo. Here is my Q = " We d'loaded 3.2.0.10 Client the latest version (i reckon its very different than your helpful install vid) , new installation on 64bit fast PC, no cams or DVRs yet, I wanted to get the software going before adding (and buying a lot of HK) devices.. There is no help in the manual for first installations. It won't go further (ie it won't show us the main screen) a small dialog comes up asking us for a port number as it won't take 8080 so I put 8081 and my WAN 192.168.1.1 / then it tries to connect to a "server" somewhere which we don't have as yet. I expected the software to install in one go without fail, it doesnt, we made sure avast was off and firewall was open. So it's a real bad "waste of time issue" as there seems to be no online tech help for experienced installers that can get you past this "server" stuff. Do I need to co-locate a server or server software first ? diolch yn fawr :-)" Answer is above folks

@@DVSLTD thanks will do but fixed it finally, it was at the point of installation we had an assigned port conflict (8080 inuse) causing a "dialog loop" it wasn't "obvious" to me that I needed to SIMPLY change the port number on installation (in the first dialog box) to get around the "non install loop" of the package, all went smoothly after I changed (to 8081) and wow what a great system makes BOSCH look like old kybosh! So many features and full use with simple HKvision baby pan and tilt cameras. This is amazing, I'd go out and celebrate ----- but -- well :-) Diolch Yn Fawr!
Hello, I have just bought a Hikvision set of camera's and a NVR. When I open the IVMS-4200 app I can see my device on the bottom side just like you. But it is impossible for me to add it to divices. Or view my camera's. I just found your video and you seem to be quite good at this. How did you know the ip adress you added in 3:50? I think i need to do the same but can't figure out how.. To be honest, I havent got a clue..

After setting up the 4200 client software and then clicking to run it, I get message saying 'attention Current screen resolution (1280x720) is less than the minimum recommended (1024x768), would you still like to run the application?" I then run it, but then i get a partial screen for which I cannot do much of anything including exit out of it. Can anyone help me? Hi,soo,im in a bit of a pickle,my husband and brother in law have installed a hikvision system for a customer,my BIL does all the techy side of it,the customer had no internet at the time but now has,my BIL has gone awol and im trying to work out how to do the techy side myself! Your videos are so helpful,what im trying to work out is how our customers son can view his mothers cameras remotely,i understand i have to do port forwarding? can this be just for the DVR or do i have to open a port for each camera? are you referring to the file size of the software? There are many functions so it's large when unzipped. There are many software packages with larger file sizes.
I'm using IP Camera software that is so buggy with wifi, Floureon sent me an updated version but the 1920x1080 will not save when i select it, so i was looking for a basic view and record program, i started downloading this iVMS-4200 and noticed it was a huge 230mb.. Watching your video looks like its just to much for the single user, so i didnt bother. It looks too complicated for me lol :-) but thanks anyway.
I can`t seem to monitor the system when away from home. The app works fine but using the laptop is impossible. Using the i.p. address or the software you use, neither allow me to see the footage. I get the error code 1602. Can you advise please?

Hello I have an Hikvision IP NPR cámara, how can I have the license plates recognized on a file on my pc? I need to have them and Access them from an app to some reports, I do not have a dvr nor nvr just my pc. Thanks in advance...
when you web browse into the ANPR Camera , make sure its “run as administrator” and then download the Plate template under “vehicle” option in Configuration , you then update the File with the Car Registrations, using CAPITALS and no space , like ABC123 , and say if it’s in whitelist or blacklist using 0/1 , then you save it and upload it back , this has to be done manually every time a plate needs to be added, changed, deleted, we cannot automate this using just the camera, if you use HIK-Central then you can input the Text direct into the software making this process very easy
Thanks, I solve it setting the ftp and marking use it -trigger- under Configuration->vehicle detection , so each time the camare detects one it upload a picture with the plate on the file name that I took with my app searching every 20 seconds, Works great!...
Hey , it could be that the user you are logged in as on the software does not have the download and correct review functions in your permissions , if your already the admin user and presume the device added is the HIKvision DVR/NVR and also has the correct permission, then it could be that we need to update the IVMS 4200 , do you know what version this is ? ( at the top menu bar under about) , is It windows or mac that is being used?
Thanks for reply. Its V 2.6.2.7, and the thing is it was all fine previously but after upgrading software those options just grayed out for some reason. Its running a only admin on win 8.1
DVSLTD I did tried used the ivms-4500 for mobile but not working. What is the port, username and password shd be? I did a NAT to my LAN server IP with a public IP. I don't hv any dvr or nvr setup. Just purely the ivms4200 software in server
the default server port is 8000, unless this has been changed, the default admin username is admin , sadly only yourself or the customer would know the admin password, or add the site as the username and password you have been given
DVSLTD no changed on the default port 8000. Username n password is correct. I can login on pc with ivms n browser IE for the camera. I think it is because I don't have a NVR device. I'm using server to manage all my IP cameras using ivms-4500 software.
Hi, I think the newest ivms-4200 software does not support NVR anymore. I hv to download an older version of it iVMS-4200 PCNVR n setup all the cameras. Once done I'm able to view all the cameras from my mobile at home.
@@DVSLTD what if i use HIKVISION DS-2CD2385G1-I camera with IVMS 4200? There is a face detection option for this camera, so, do i need any advanced IVMS4200 version to use this option? What i really need is to use a rectangle in the live view on people's faces. I see in ivms manual ther is an optional "Enable Dynamic Analysis for Face Detection". Any idea why optional?? it could be the network issue locally, the device is off, the network IP address has changed which has effected the connection etc, hard to say without further investiagation sorry
Hi Dave, Could you please help. I can monitor the facial temperature with AI Dashboard. Is it possible to not able to see the temperature value, only see ok (green) our abnormal (red)? Thank you for your help.
Please go to control panel , then under device management, click on the “group” tab on the left hand side next to the devices added tab, then click “+” add group , then select add group by device tick box and select the device(s) you require, this will then add the desired cameras into the live view tab under the devices name 😊
can you let us know what version of IVMS-4200 that is being used, also what method have you added the device into the software , Direct IP , HIK-Connect? And has a patrol been set in the 1st instance via the software, so set the patrol within IVSM 4200 then call the Patrol ??
@@DVSLTD connected via hik-connect, is had setup pattern directly using mouse on NVR.... Ii am able to call presets and ptz direction but not patrol or patterns using ivms....

have you checked the device is still online? Its probably changed IP address or something

I was under the impression that Remote Playback could play the video stored on the SD card. Is that true? Is there a way to play the video on the SD cards? Seems like a logical thing the app should be able to do.
yes you can play back videos on the SD card via the local playback tool if you have the SD card in the same PC , does that help?
OK this is a help file now - I sorted it, on the opening screen put a port number that's NOT in use or you will go around in circles as below, ok Dave!! (I put 8081) THEN THE VIRGIN LOGIN SCREEN COMES UP. Suggest you do a 3201 demo. Here is my Q = " We d'loaded 3.2.0.10 Client the latest version (i reckon its very different than your helpful install vid) , new installation on 64bit fast PC, no cams or DVRs yet, I wanted to get the software going before adding (and buying a lot of HK) devices.. There is no help in the manual for first installations. It won't go further (ie it won't show us the main screen) a small dialog comes up asking us for a port number as it won't take 8080 so I put 8081 and my WAN 192.168.1.1 / then it tries to connect to a "server" somewhere which we don't have as yet. I expected the software to install in one go without fail, it doesnt, we made sure avast was off and firewall was open. So it's a real bad "waste of time issue" as there seems to be no online tech help for experienced installers that can get you past this "server" stuff. Do I need to co-locate a server or server software first ? diolch yn fawr :-)" Answer is above folks

@@DVSLTD thanks will do but fixed it finally, it was at the point of installation we had an assigned port conflict (8080 inuse) causing a "dialog loop" it wasn't "obvious" to me that I needed to SIMPLY change the port number on installation (in the first dialog box) to get around the "non install loop" of the package, all went smoothly after I changed (to 8081) and wow what a great system makes BOSCH look like old kybosh! So many features and full use with simple HKvision baby pan and tilt cameras. This is amazing, I'd go out and celebrate ----- but -- well :-) Diolch Yn Fawr!

I have just bought a Hikvision set of camera's and a NVR. When I open the IVMS-4200 app I can see my device on the bottom side just like you. But it is impossible for me to add it to divices. Or view my camera's. I just found your video and you seem to be quite good at this. How did you know the ip adress you added in 3:50? I think i need to do the same but can't figure out how..

After setting up the 4200 client software and then clicking to run it, I get message saying 'attention Current screen resolution (1280x720) is less than the minimum recommended (1024x768), would you still like to run the application?" I then run it, but then i get a partial screen for which I cannot do much of anything including exit out of it. Can anyone help me? I notice that when dvs guy started his 4200 the title graphic rectangle was much smaller than it appeared on my screen. Do I need a new monitor? - Mine is an LG widescreen only about 10 or so years old.
Check the windows display resolution is set to 1920x1080 and that will cure this
Hi,soo,im in a bit of a pickle,my husband and brother in law have installed a hikvision system for a customer,my BIL does all the techy side of it,the customer had no internet at the time but now has,my BIL has gone awol and im trying to work out how to do the techy side myself! Your videos are so helpful,what im trying to work out is how our customers son can view his mothers cameras remotely,i understand i have to do port forwarding? can this be just for the DVR or do i have to open a port for each camera? are you referring to the file size of the software? There are many functions so it's large when unzipped. There are many software packages with larger file sizes.
I'm using IP Camera software that is so buggy with wifi, Floureon sent me an updated version but the 1920x1080 will not save when i select it, so i was looking for a basic view and record program, i started downloading this iVMS-4200 and noticed it was a huge 230mb.. Watching your video looks like its just to much for the single user, so i didnt bother. It looks too complicated for me lol :-) but thanks anyway.
I can`t seem to monitor the system when away from home. The app works fine but using the laptop is impossible. Using the i.p. address or the software you use, neither allow me to see the footage. I get the error code 1602. Can you advise please?

Hi Dave, great video. When I try to add a device I get an error message "The device type is not supported" same message for both my NVR DS-7616NI-I2/16P and camera DS-2CD2185FWD-I. Both devices are on and can be seen by SADP Tool, any idea what the problem can be. Thanks in advance.

Hello I have an Hikvision IP NPR cámara, how can I have the license plates recognized on a file on my pc? I need to have them and Access them from an app to some reports, I do not have a dvr nor nvr just my pc. Thanks in advance...
when you web browse into the ANPR Camera , make sure its “run as administrator” and then download the Plate template under “vehicle” option in Configuration , you then update the File with the Car Registrations, using CAPITALS and no space , like ABC123 , and say if it’s in whitelist or blacklist using 0/1 , then you save it and upload it back , this has to be done manually every time a plate needs to be added, changed, deleted, we cannot automate this using just the camera, if you use HIK-Central then you can input the Text direct into the software making this process very easy
Thanks, I solve it setting the ftp and marking use it -trigger- under Configuration->vehicle detection , so each time the camare detects one it upload a picture with the plate on the file name that I took with my app searching every 20 seconds, Works great!...

Hey , it could be that the user you are logged in as on the software does not have the download and correct review functions in your permissions , if your already the admin user and presume the device added is the HIKvision DVR/NVR and also has the correct permission, then it could be that we need to update the IVMS 4200 , do you know what version this is ? ( at the top menu bar under about) , is It windows or mac that is being used?
Thanks for reply. Its V 2.6.2.7, and the thing is it was all fine previously but after upgrading software those options just grayed out for some reason. Its running a only admin on win 8.1

DVSLTD I did tried used the ivms-4500 for mobile but not working. What is the port, username and password shd be? I did a NAT to my LAN server IP with a public IP. I don't hv any dvr or nvr setup. Just purely the ivms4200 software in server
the default server port is 8000, unless this has been changed, the default admin username is admin , sadly only yourself or the customer would know the admin password, or add the site as the username and password you have been given
DVSLTD no changed on the default port 8000. Username n password is correct. I can login on pc with ivms n browser IE for the camera. I think it is because I don't have a NVR device. I'm using server to manage all my IP cameras using ivms-4500 software.
Hi, I think the newest ivms-4200 software does not support NVR anymore. I hv to download an older version of it iVMS-4200 PCNVR n setup all the cameras. Once done I'm able to view all the cameras from my mobile at home.

What i really need is to use a rectangle in the live view on people's faces. I see in ivms manual ther is an optional "Enable Dynamic Analysis for Face Detection". Any idea why optional?? it could be the network issue locally, the device is off, the network IP address has changed which has effected the connection etc, hard to say without further investiagation sorry

Both are DS-2CV2Q0IFD-IW and I'm using iVMS-4200 v2.7.1.9
Please go to control panel , then under device management, click on the “group” tab on the left hand side next to the devices added tab, then click “+” add group , then select add group by device tick box and select the device(s) you require, this will then add the desired cameras into the live view tab under the devices name 😊

can you let us know what version of IVMS-4200 that is being used, also what method have you added the device into the software , Direct IP , HIK-Connect? And has a patrol been set in the 1st instance via the software, so set the patrol within IVSM 4200 then call the Patrol ??
@@DVSLTD connected via hik-connect, is had setup pattern directly using mouse on NVR.... Ii am able to call presets and ptz direction but not patrol or patterns using ivms....
