She was with Island Records, which was interesting, but there had been problems with the album, rejected by the label, producer fired, looked bad. I went to see her anyway, in case there was a story and because that was my job. Wow. I remember clearly when she belted out this song. Her voice is HUGE; you have to see her live to get the full impact. We all just stood there exchanging glances and going, WTF? Doesn't happen often, but from Day One, there was never any doubt she was going to be a big deal. Deserved success.
I saw her in 1989 at the Town and Country Tavern in Kentish Town, London. To this day the best concert I have ever seen. Right there with her as the stage was so close to the audience.

Like me, most of her fans have been to many of her concerts because she puts on an awesome show..Would have loved to have seen this one and the one from Germany in person. I like for people who stand up for what they believe in and who also who don't try to hide who they really are just to satisfy other people. Melissa Etheridge is one of those people who is not FAKE.
