Korg's new RK100S 2 Keytars have just landed in Australia and we were stoked to get hold of one to demo. Leroy had a lot of fun channelling his inner '80s keytar lord and getting to know what they're capable of (as you'll see, he particularly enjoyed the vocoder!).
The original 1980s Korg RK-100 was a big heavy beast with 41 full-size keys, today's model has been slimmed down to a much more manageable weight, with 37 three quarter size slimline keys, and obviously, a much more modern sound engine. The 2 ribbon controllers are also heaps of fun, likewise the onboard arpeggiator. Check em out in stores now.

well time to build a pedal board around this interesting keytar. double wah, whammy, overdrive, distortion, double chorus, ping pong delay, Vibrato, Tremelo, Flang, Reverb, and a Compressor sustainer. All going out to a A/B switcher pedal going to two Amps for true stereo.
I'd like to see a ' shootout ' between the Yamaha sonogenic 500 and the RK100
OK it will likely do what I want - especially via MIDI
I really hope there are more libraries available
i know this is old, but, eh, it's a Microkorg XL so..there's about a decade of them
Seems nice 👍
Well, it's not an oversized lump like the Roland AX-Edge so it's in with a chance at the right price.
Currently debating between the two
I kinda prefer AX-Edge actually.. About the length of a bass and it looks cooler. Jordan Rudess looks good using it
@@ze-ce.cra_ plus its got roughly 500 very well crafted sounds compared to the 200 this ones got
Does it have a good hammond and grand piano
hi.. is korg rk100s has an onboard sound? or this need to have master keyboard (or DAW software) to get it sound?
yes it has onboard sounds, its a synth not a controller ;)
@@Noisegate thanks for this information

Can I use this as a controller and midi my Korg Triton through it?
You can. I tried with kross and it worked perfectly.. (5 pin DIN midi)
Is the size of the keys a problem if im used to regular keys?
It will depend on you, but we don't find it to be a problem
I gather it works with headphones?
Is that sound preset on RK100 same with mikrokorg?
I need your help very much! Can you tell me which power supply /charger is suitable for this keytar? I cannot find how many amperes it should have?
Hi, this is the adapter for the RK100s: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KA350--korg-ka-350-power-supply
@@Noisegate 👍 thanks a lot
I just bought one, it’s not making sound, does it have a built in speaker?
No it does not have a built-in speaker, it needs to be amplified via the output
Is there a list of patches/presets?
you can search up the manual online
Are these full size keys?
Hi Gregory, They are slim sized mini keys. Hope this helps
That's that sh*t MikroKorg vocoder right there.
I hate the position of the jack output!
