      I do it by creating a hierarchy with all the Dimensions I want to include then build the viz with the Hierarchy Dimension + Measure( no calculations required).
      Using the calculations , in the video, will allow you to have different colors for each dimension. If you use the hierarchy , only one dimension can be in the color option. I would say , learn both ways to help meet the needs of your client.

    ELSE [Category]
    END
    lets say you have aka a category with the name "furniture" and a subcategory with the name "furniture"
    So in 5 returns category => furniture and in 6 it will compare the output from 5 furniture with the current subcategory which is also furniture which will result in true and 6 will return the wrong level,
    a better way to calculate the level is to directly check for the same conditions in 5 instead of the output of 5
    IF [1 Category Set] AND [4 Subcategory Set]
    THEN "segment"
    ELSEIF [1 Category Set] THEN "subcategory"
    ELSE "category"
    END
    Thanks for the great tutorial I love your content

      There a lots of way to accomplish the same goal. I'm glad you found another way that works for you. 👍🏻

    Is there a way to do 4 level drill down?

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  Před rokem

      Yes, same steps, but it will increase the complexity of your calculations.

    It is possible do this with 5 levels?

      It’s possible, just keep adding calculations, sets and actions in the same manner. Also, adjust “Current Level” calculation to include 2 more levels. Theoretically, as I understand, there is no number of levels restrictions.

      That is correct. But the calculations will get very, very messy.

    we can easily achieve this by using hierarchy

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  Před 3 měsíci

      No you can’t. Hierarchies expand all marks.

    The problem is that all of these are hacks. Also the drill-back up does not work per level but collapses everything. In addition it is cumbersome to combine with filter actions. My users don't want to use Tableau and instead prefer PowerBI. Hierarchies can be opened up on ANY level very naturally and when clicking on it it filters. Boom. Not sure why Tableau is incapable of providing such a basic functionality.

    These videos are way too fast, even with pausing to catch up. They are helpful, but please slow down.

    Can you do this with a line chart? I want to click on a line in my graph of categories and have the sub categories of that line appear. @vizwiz
