Its makes me really sad to think that he died (sacrificed himself) so that Dismas could win.
It's Canon that they BOTH do the final dungeon crawl and fight The Heart... But as we know *half* the party *will not* return. And to add more logs for the pyre, in the announcement trailer for DD2, out of the 6 members of the party shown there was only Dismas. Dismas and the Plague Doctor.....
It brings me great comfort, knowing he died believing he had just saved life and the world as we know it.
We should all be so lucky.
