Incredible car show! Elk Merk Waardig - Every Brand Worthy - Part 1

- Featuring the rich microcosm that is the Dutch classic car scene, this show has a simply incredible mix of cars - so many that this is just part 1! I was repeatedly stunned by the cars that turned up, many of which I knew, some of which I definitely did not! There's an Alfa Romeo Rio, built in Brazil, many Daihatsus, many Renault 15s and 17s, a Centennial (a rebadged Hyundai Equus) and even a few British classics! Next time, we'll see a DAF Pony and a Renault Premiere!

These walkabouts are pure joy and improve the quality of life. Thanks Ian
Absolutely!
Hi Ian, it was lovely seeing you last Saturday. Thank you for letting me hold the camera for quite a while, I hope I didn’t ruin too many shots! I’d love to see you at the upcoming FOTU!
Great spur of the moment filming. Thank you! More Robin action soon.
This is GREAT! Netherlands never seem to get rid of their old cars cars... this show is right up my street. I hope they do this next year - I'd love to take my dad to see this, he'd love it!
Well the government tries.. But we won't let them. 😅
what an amazing event! Congratulations to the organizers and thanks to you Ian for the report!
thats a proper automotive nerdfest
Your car recognition skills are really extraordinary! Great video, thank you.
It's beautiful to see a healthy Reliant scene.
Nice to see a Reliant Robin still being 'Really Useful' decades after production ended.🙂
I could watch this for hours… Thanks Ian. For the cars. And for the sunshine! Groetjes naar Nederland! 🇳🇱🤗🇳🇱
Hi Ian, it was nice to meet you again.
It was also a great car show for me, so many cars I saw in the metal for the first time.
Nice that you mentioned the Eindhoven social of 2019 when you were standing by my Ford Transit.
The HubNut store definitely needs a sun hat for perusing car shows on a sunny day.
And 360 degree panoramic glasses so as to See It All!
This is the only kind of car show I actually want to go to. I want to see things I'll see nowhere else! Wish we had something like this in the US.
Ian's enthusiasm and knowledgable commentary bring any car show alive. The show walks are my fave vids!
19:59 a Ranger! Did you see that? An Opel Rekord built in South Africa and imported for a short while over here in Belgium and NL in the 70s
It's in Part 2 I think.
That's my Ranger 😊. Very rare indeed. Thx for notice! @Hubnut, great video!
This is exactly what the event was like. Great day! Oh, and the BX is a Toulouse, based on a basic 14. No power steering or other luxuries, but just that wonderfully soft ride ❤.
Excellent event and video! I need to go there next time.
That blue Multipla has a 5 cilinder 2 litre swap from a Bravo HGT, I believe
Oh nice!
Thanks for the great show report Ian! I recognized most of the cars there even though perhaps only 5 to 10% of them were sold in the USA. It’s weird seeing the US cars there - they look so out of place.
This was a great event and I enjoyed the conversation with the owners and other enthousiasts. Mine was the blue 914, you catched me when I was driving to the 'concours'.
Looked a lovely example!
An incredible show! I spent most of the video drooling and making rather suspect "oohhff" noises that had my wife wondering what adult channel I was watching! 😂
The Primera has a Belgian license plate!
Elk merk waardig is a word play in Dutch. “Merkwaardig” means remarkable. And indeed, elk merk waardig translates to the fact that every car is welcome.
Mr. Hubnut is such a brilliant guide, full of wisdom and knowledge, which combined with his expert camera skills make this video a great pleasure to watch. Cheers from Germany
Great vid! The Dutch apparently know how to put on a great show with a great variety of cars!
Superb assortment of vehicles! Love the Y10's, great wee cars and the most ridiculously loud horn for the size of car.
That's mine😊
@@adriaany10 Excellent, enjoy! 👍
You’ve excelled on this one Ian.
Love the Renault’s and I agree the 130 is much better as a saloon.
Looking forward to part 2 👏🏻
Miss HubNut isn't the only one that gets giddy over a Daihatsu gathering.
Ohhhh Renault 15!!! I love those almost as much as the 17 ❤
Hi Ian. We did get the Gingercators on the Alfa 33, Green Cloverleaf, Series 1 here in the UK, The same as the one in the lineup. One of which I owned and loved, a very underrated car. The series 1 had a interesting interior, the binnacle was attached to the steering column and move with it on adjustment.
Renualt Fuego's ...Just perfect design. Austin 1100's deserve a comeback!
Absaloutly fantastic video Ian ❤👍I was taken back with that yellow Punto MK1 I had a 1.1 sx back in 2000 it was the 4 door I loved it absaloutly dream all those classics brilliant
Thank you from Lake Tahoe USA!
I love these car show walk around videos! can't wait for part two
Omg if I had known about this I'd of come in my Copen so it could meet it's family 😆😆, on well next year!!.
Had my driving lessons and passed my test in a Simca 1000 back in 1975.
15:13 LOVE the color of that Reliant. Minty green with white.
I can really understand why you went so far for a car show, I think even my badge engineered Maverick would fit in at that show.
Great to see the Y10 in there! Mainly because I had two in my younger days, a 1.0 FIRE in slightly-faded "baked bean orange" (think of the coulour of the sauce, not the beans) and then a white 1.3 GTie with a matching tailgate. Meanwhile, in the latest issue of Classic. Retro. Modern., Gavin Braithwaite-Smith has been wondering out loud if its successor - the 1995 Lancia Y - is a classic. I wanted one, even if it was LHD-only.
It's mine, I have owned 9 of it, this is the best I've ever had.
Looks a amazing show so much variety.
Fantastic collection of cars.😮
Where does one start………😳 Thanks for bringing us this Ian. If I had to pick one that stood out for me it was the Lancia Gamma. OMG. But there were so many more……
That’s my Gamma✌️
Oh nice, I see my Streetwise :) I was just in time with getting up, so I didn't "bump" the video! It was a great show, I like your video Ian! Can't wait to see part 2 :)
At 0:44 is NOT a FIAT 850, but the only, and very rare, Neckar 850 Adria in the Netherlands.... ;-)
Indeed so. I learned this later. Very EMW.
Betty the Au would never witness anything like this back in her home country.
@Flaming Hedgehog. Very true, the UK seems to have a much more diverse classic car scene, and the Netherlands looks to be even more so, which I love. In Australia, the classic car scene in dominated by Holden and Ford, and mostly the performance models (cool as they are...by the time you are looking at your hundredth hot Commodore/Falcon et al variant, it's getting a bit old). I know there is some variety here, but just not anything like the Brit's or the Dutch have. Cheers!
That's why they invented the Northern Hemisphere.
That first gen Daihatsu Charade with the 'port hole' at the start of the vid! Awesome! And super rare...
The charade you mentioned is mine, Thanx for watching! I have the car for 16 years now and in this time it is almost fully restored
@@vintagenl fantastic car, Remco! In my top 10 of this Saturday!
@@flothchtronk2068 great to hear that from a enthausiast also! What do you drive?
@@vintagenl Restoration time scale=time for lasting fun
Really great coverage of this event ! I enjoyed this so much. Great to see two similar cars to what I own on display there - I own an AE95 Corolla 4WD wagon and an Alfa 75. Cheers from Sydney Australia 😎
Wonderful car show and video keep them coming please Ian
great stuff, there sure is a lot of HubNut-worthy cars at the event by the looks of it.
Pass the Dutchie.....'pon the left hand side.... These guys are real petrol heads!
A Buick of bigness, LOL. Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Great watch. I think I spotted a Mitsubishi Sigma right at the beginning. And not to forget Edward from Ed's Auto Review telling about his Chrysler Crossfire!
Great video! Can't wait for the second part! Cheers from argentina.
What a great video. Loved it!
Excellent video. This is Hubnut at its best. Finding joy in the most modest (when new) motorcars.
AWESOME VIDEO MAN I LOVED THAT I SPOTTED YOU ON the HIGHWAY coming to the event ( the blue daihatsu cuore ) thx for covering this event wil most definitely check out your other contend
the fun at shows is trying to recognize all cars
The rear lights on the Mazda 121's somehow remind me of the rear lights on a Suzuki X90 somewhat haha.
Fantastic report, Ian! Such an eclectic mix of cars. We'll done for bringing us great content. 👍
Just love this! ❤️
Great video Mr H, said before but this is when your at your very best, thank you.
I have to take a pause from NOVELTY! My brain space is overwhelmed with automobile shapes and concepts never seen before by my North American eyes. Wowie zowie, zut alors...
Excellent...really interesting thank you👍
Absolutely excellent. The Renault 5 was my favourite, but there was so much to choose from. Thanks for doing this Ian, enjoy, and safe journey home!
I had no clue you were there! That's awesome, hope you had a great time. We sure did. It's fun to see my little Cuore on here! Thanks for the video.
It looks fantastic!
another great video has always Ian and miss hubnut and hublets and hubmutts 👍
Looking forward to this. Kind regards, Repko
*That white Citroen truck is a bit of alright* 👍
Gosh, it seems like a while since you did one of these walk arounds. Forgot how much I missed them!
Great video Ian, this show looks amazing, maybe one i will have to go along go at one point in time.
Recently spotted a Honda Logo at a car meet i was at recently and that had a few little modifications carried out.
As an Aussie the one that stood out was the Landcruiser troopie
Great part 1 look forward to part 2 👍 thanks for the walkabout
i very much have a soft spot for "crappy" cars ever since i bought a moskavich jeep in 1984 it had deckchairs (more or less ) for seats and a big lump of steel to stop the engine freezing , brilliant fun more so then the fiestas and escorts my pals had
Great cars. Great video
Did see u Walking and filming it was a nice day 🌞👍🏻😎
Hubnut literally rushes past a Porsche Boxter to look at an old Renault. Not very many content makers do that. He's quite right too.
Ik vind het wel erg merkwaardig.
What a fantastic video so many amazing vehicles!! My favourite was the Isuzu Gemini GTI 👌👌
what country was it from? (not a dutch plate)
Denmark.
@@HubNut Norway. I had a nice chat with the owner's brother. They found the car in Bavaria. My favorite car of the show.
Norway? Brilliant!
25:50 I had one of those when I was younger. I was the talk of all my mates as it was like being in the Enterprise. The seats were so big and comfy. Having that straight 6 it was so powerful... This is when BMW were on top of their game. A rock solid car, not like todays BMW's...
Thank you
Very nice footage, it gives a very good impression on how it was out there! Too bad my Thunderbird came in just a little too late :p
I walk past a J plate ZX 1.4 4 door everyday, but on Saturday parked at work was a 2door 1.9D so two in one day!
The Nissan Cube that's not a cube. The first one we saw was white, which got an immediate "Look! Its a giant blanc mange."
Merk Waardig, in translation is like you said. But in the Netherlands it is one word: Merkwaardig! And this is in translation something like particular! 😊
Great stuff
Awesome video, bet Betty would be the only AU Ford in the Netherlands
Apparently not! One of the organisers has an AU Fairlane...
A 2 door Mk2 Granny!
I've only ever seen one other before. It was iwbed by a German family that owned a holiday house in my home town. They would either come over in the Granny or a Taunus Esttate.
Love these, thanks Hubnut. Completely forgotten the Mazda 121 just never see them. Mk2 granadas oooo I go weak.
@Rob C. IMHO the Mazda 121 is peak '90's "bubble" design, and someday I will have one (not at the top of the list though, hahaha). Funny thing is that today I was waiting in a carpark (for my elderly mother whom was at an appointment) for about an hour and saw two bubble 121's come and go in that time (this is not typical though). they were pretty popular back in their day, and clearly, there are a few still in regular use here in Australia. Cheers!
Straight back to my formative auto education in the 70s and 80s
What a fantastic eclectic mix 👍also Ian's vehicle knowledge really makes it 😊
What a great event
@6:38 it is my 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina. The 1750 has a bit of a different front end with different sized headlights and a smaller scudetto. Love the video report!
Thanks! I always get confused with those...
@@HubNut with the knowledge you already have, there is no shame in that!
Wow some rarely seen cars. My late best friend had a Subaru Justy. The Renualt 12,15 &17 remember them well. Miss Hubnut would be so pleased to see the Dhaihatsus. A garage local me dealt in them around 20 years ago.
This was a great event. We only got there by about 13:30 and some of the cars in the video had already left. But there was still enough to see. It was nice to meet you, be it ever so briefly. Do take me up on my offer to test my Méhari the next time you're here again.
It must be a good show if Mr Seabrook is struggling to identify every last car. Great video.
Indeed nice comment
nice vid! You spotted my G100!
So many classic cars but if I had to pick one it would have to be that glance and you miss it Chrysler 180, I loved these as a kid back in the day. I saw them as a bigger, more plush and as a upper class version of the Avenger. Wow! my memories go back it's like yesterday. Many thanks for sharing. I look forward to the next part.
Thanks. It's actually a 160! We will take a closer look in Part 2. Oh and there was a 180 too! That'll be in my museum video.
That Alfa 33 is a mega rare Series 1 Green Cloverleaf, Series 1 33s in the UK had gingercators
The intro of the Lancia Y10 could've been the making of Fiat AB. The Saab was the best platform of the 4. A delta HF turbo... Not the integralle...(or maybe) Would be my dream car just for the Alcantra.
It’s so good to see so many very average cars
They are always the first to disappear 👍👍👍
I am amazed to see the Mitsubishi sigma
That model was called Magna here and I had that same model
Sigma was a smaller car here cheers Ian
I think my car interest came from seeing the sheer variety of cars like this around my street as a child ..Saab 99, saab 900, fiat 126, fiat ritmo, lancia y10, various skoda and FSO, Ford capri 2.8, Panda Sergio Tacchini, Renault Fuego etc etc.....streets are boring now... Edit : i have just remembered a Matra Rancho, an Alfa SZ , an Alfa TZ, and an Aston DB7 Zagato ( which i got to sit in).. None of which i have ever seen since
Move back to your street of childhood auto dreams!
Okay, it seems like I have to go there next year ;)
