    A comment about Super Mario World: at the time it was released, it was meant to showcase the powers of the SNES. A lot of stuff that seems standard today was amazing when it was released. When you play that first level and you see that screen-sized Banzai Bill? Amazing. Even little things that aren't used much in the game, like the reversible fences that you can climb on, seemed incredible. But now that both games have aged so that their technology is standard, SMB3's gameplay is a little stronger.

      @@the-engneer it’s very hard to describe,for one thing the drums in the fortress and airships do feel very intimidating also that twomp sound from big hammerbrothers sounds very intimidating,also the used colorpallet with gloomy colors( no real yellow colors and the used green colors on the koopalings looks very gloomy as well and the blue sky in most levels don’t look overbrighted(!),)
      And darkland really really feels very intimidating not only of it’s theme tune but those levels itself including those levels with those skeleton hands(are those hands from the devil?)
      Also SMB3 feels more liniear then SMW since you cannot walk to and from a previous world,also mario in SMB looks gloomy and darkish with it’s black overall and red had among other things,
      So that’s why the nes version of mario 3 feels so hellish,
      Not the snes and GBA version since they both use waaay too much and waaay too much overbrighted colors along with waaay too much detailed backgrounds,also those used drums in those versions don’t feel intimidating,also it’s reply value has been deincreased since you can just save at certain points in those versions,so that’s why i prefer the nes version and i think the nes limitations did helped to make SMB3 giving that intimidating feel,
      Same thing with contra on nes(despite being a port from the arcade version),but the used darkish colors,lack of scrolling backgrounds and used drums gives it that gloomy darkish flavor,so that’s why i prefer contra on nes over the overbrighted overdetailed arcade version.

      Cool observation I've never really thought of, but I see it now that you bring it up. Strangely it makes me like SMB3 even more! It will always be my favorite Super Mario game regardless for too many reasons to explain. Really the only reason I play SMW at all still is because of the endless variety of hacks, and I also find myself wishing SMB3 got the same amount of attention, but at the same time I wonder if that would drain some of my love for it. When the wand falls after a boss battle on the air ships, repeatedly run and jump beneath it back and forth without touching it. There is a way to get the wand to land diagonally. Not sure if it is glitch or intentional.

      @Slightly_Sadistic Před 2 lety

      @@TompaA no but I could try to recreate it. I did it several times when I was a child. It was tricky to pull off but you'd have to repeatedly run back and forth while jumping under the wand. I could give it an attempt in an emulator perhaps.

    • @Slightly_Sadistic
      @Slightly_Sadistic Před 2 lety

      @@TompaA I had tried to find any mention of it on the internet recently with no luck and started trying to see if it was in any CZcams videos of Mario 3 secrets/glitches but no mention and in other videos of boss battles/playthroughs, everyone just tries to grab the wand in the air. I got it to work at least three times or more when I was about 11 and 12 years old. As that falls and bounces or whatever it does (I forget if the wand bounces but will have to go play today to see), you'd have to run back and forth jumping directly under it while narrowly missing catching it. It usually wouldn't work but once in a lot of tries, when it lands, it'd be diagonally positioned on the ground facing right. It was odd. Probably a weird glitch. Maybe undocumented? I dunno.

    • @CosmicPlatonix
      @CosmicPlatonix Před 2 lety +1

      Normally, if you play an Airship level and die partway through, the Airship will troll you by flying off to a different part of the map, so you have to chase it down to get another chance at clearing the level. This can be especially bad if the Airship stops behind a level you skipped on your way to the castle.
      The Anchor, like the Music Box, is an item that can only be used on the world map and only affects the world map. If you use the Anchor, and then die in the Airship, the Airship will stay right where it is. It won't be able to move.
