I'm sorry guys, Pozzecco is a clown. I don't even understand why on earth Recalcati was seated by that 'bufone'. They played rubbish in Milano and when matters the most this Pozzecco person perfoming an Italian comedy. Their Timeouts were embarrassing and ridiculous, in fact Melli called him out several times throughout the tournament. I believe Italy has a good generation to do something good and to lift a trophy.
The feeling is they are throwing key years away by placing people like this Pozzeco person in the bench. Trincchieri would have taken the team further. I would love to see them fighting in the semis/final at some point. Some guys are getting old and we have World Cup, Olympics and Eurobasket in the next 3 years. 23,24, and 25.

@@victorestevez4696 No one here believes Pozzecco is a master strategist, but in tournaments like these teams are more in need of confidence boosts and team spirit building than anything else. Italy beat Serbia without Galinari and managed to become even more likeable for their fighting spirit. So, in these terms Pozzecco was successfull, no matter what you and I might think.

Add in the fact that Germany won the bronze without their full squad too. If Moritz Wagner and Maxi Kleber were there, you would have had an entire starting lineup of nba players and another, Isaiah Hartenstein, coming off the bench. If they can get all of these guys to play, Germany can definitely compete with for more medals at the World Cup and Olympics. The future’s looking very bright and u guys are gonna be a force if not now, very soon.

@@anuprashsunuwar6861 Yes but no. Nowadays there isn't a big difference between being a Euroleague and an NBA player. It's kinda better to have a player who is a protagonist in the EL rather than an NBA bench warmer. Hartenstein is a solid rebounder but he barely averages 5 ppg. In general Germany has a lot of great centers and PF but not a great back court. They gotta put all of their hope and trust in Schroeder who isn't necessarily the most consistent PG out there

@@giuseppemaggio5894 I agree that leagues in europe and even the nbl is closing the gap on the nba. I will say that Hartenstein may just a role player in the nba but let’s not forget that even nba benchwarmers play bigger roles for their international teams. Take for example, Tomas Satoransky. He was the backup point guard for the bulls when playing in the nba but was the star for the Czech Republic because he had a bigger role. Led them to qualify for the Olympics and even eliminated Canada, whose whole team consists of nba players, in the process. I’m sure Hartenstein will be much more effective for Germany than he is in the nba. And as a laker fan, I know Schroeder can be frustrating to watch sometimes but I think that he and Wagner still make up the best backcourt in Europe.

They whistled end of possesion after a shot and a Garuba offensive reboud when the ball clearly touched the rim, they also charged Scariolo with a technical foul as he complained about that.
Referee's answer: "I know, we made a mistake, but we can't just undo it".

We got done wrong many times. Most of all in the Georgia game. The fact that our players played their heart out, and didn’t get any calls. Only to get jumped by the ejected players of the other team, as well as the police force tasked to protect us, is just disturbing! Rather than Georgia, I am mad at FIBA for letting such an act of unprofessionalism get by unpunished. Im sure if it were certain countries the double standard would apply. Interesting choice that you focused on Larentzakis, but not Schröder (which many Greek fans were complaining about, and to be fair he had to leave the game as well after two technicals).
As a Berlin girl I have to say for me it was the fans! Eurobasket 2022 showed me once again why basketball has the best fans!!! Eurobasket 2025, Cyprus, Finland, Latvia, Poland. Let's go!

I was watching on May in Helsinki Germany vs. Slovakia and Denmark vs. Canada in hockey World Championships. They were great experiences.
About German fans, I haven't ever seen such chanting live, it was exactly like on football stadiums in a smaller scale. They sang and waved their flags, it was a great atmosphere!

Even though we lost against Italy (I'm Serbian) you have to appreciate the fire and emotions that the Italians showed, they wanted to win more. Well deserved.

nice summary of the EuroBasket. although the bad officiating will be remembered for this tournament, i have to admit that from the QFs on, the referees were not that bad. actually i would say that it was solid, besides of the mentioned moment at the finals.

I think you left behind one very important thing: The winning of the team effort, the team play; the victory of a technical and strategical game, on front of teams playing for his particular nba star... The team game, over the cult to one individual great player. For me that- is-BASKETBALL, that is his greatness... Best Regards

As a Bulgarian, I am proud of my country's performance despite the losses. Bulgaria isn't a power in basketball, but it's always great to see our team play in the Eurobasket. However the Georgian fans that booed us and the Georgian team's actions against the Turkish players were disgraceful, I am satisfied that we got a victory against them. FIBA failing to prevent issues like that is even more shameful.

      1) We were missing our 2 main go to guys (Gallinari and Banchero). What would France Slovenia Greece Serbia look like without Gobert Fournier Doncic Dragic Giannis Dorsey Micic and Jokic?? We were very unlucky with injuries and unavailable players. 2) Fontecchio Melli Polonara Datome Spissu are all elite level names. You have a very weird definition of mediocre. Italy is easily in the world's top 10 and in Europe's top 6. We clearly are not mediocre. And next year (with Banchero Gallinari Okeke Procida Spagnolo and fully recovered Mannion), we are once again going to be in the world's top 5

The referees where probably trying to even things down with that controversial (inexistant) foul on Brown, after the took a very legit ball from Spain and a technical foul on Scariolo just minutes before (bad shot touched the rim, ended up as a Garuba rebound called as it had never touched the rim). Shame on them, of course, but they are also human. They should have revised both plays on video.
