  • A bike packing adventure with obstacles. It all went wrong in Fuerteventura. Local legend Arnau Lumeras and I travel from Barcelona to the Canary Islands for a bike trip. One of the most beautiful gravel bike rides in Fuerte to Cofete.

      I don't like this sepia filter either. Yeah its dusty and sandy on the canary islands, but this filter looks like there is constant smog. Which isn't the case.

      I'm not quite enjoying the channel as much as I would like I feel like it's the first channel about cycling that's in my opinion actually meant for women. This could however be a great selling point, because there are way too little channels for women cycling. If you get what I mean.

    I don't understand how one can cycle for a living, but always forget essential things like bicycle lights? This bugs me and is bad for your own safety and those of others.

      I basically came here to say this,, lights are the tiniest and most basic essential kit, makes no sense that they wouldn't have them. Can't watch any further than that point, just seems like amateurs .

    I cant watch bike videos that starts with taking an airplane. I am fed up with people taking the excuse of enjoying the great outdoor and beauty of nature in order to destroy it.
    I live in France and year 2022 was terrible, now 2023 and we are already lacking water, I am not even sure how we gonna pass the summer... Life will soon be miserable.
    But people don't care and keep taking the plane for fun. Do people need to die in front of them to open their eye ?
    There are so many ways to enjoy a great ride : stay local, move to another location and live there, take the train or bus, cycle to the place you want to visit, etc...
    i know my comment is kind of aggressive, but promoting that lifestyle is not an option today

    • @breu.design

      Bro, take a breath. She stays local by cycling a lot around Girona/BCN. She literally moved from Germany to Girona some months ago. She takes the train and the bus during her trips and she also cycles to places she wants to visit (remember the 1200km trip from her town to finale ligure?). Comparing to the MAJORITY of digital nomads or travelling vloggers she doesn't rent huge ass mansions and she also doesn't take planes every month to go to bali. She does not harm the economy of foreign countries by sneaking around the laws. She's being very minimalistic in her actions and only does the necessary. If that means taking a plane from time to time, so be it. So before you turn into a keyboard warrior, please inform yourself about the people you rage against.

    • @GC-uq2pd
      @GC-uq2pd Před rokem +3

      @@breu.design well I dont know her in details, so yes you know better than me her lifestyle to judge. I agree :)
      now I differ from you by the fact that I dont consider taking the plane as something "necessary" except for medical or family reason, which is not the case here afaik.
      Actually I am more annoyed about the promotion of that lifestyle on social media, which is a common trend for sport vlogger.
      You can do whatever in your life to be minimalistic and local and whatever, promoting taking the plane for fun smashes all these effort into pieces considering the cost of aviation.
      i understand that position may seem to many as radical or extreme, but considering the current environmental disaster taking place and our knowledge about it, I assume. I think that's taking an airplane for no reason today that should raise our concern and not the people opposing it.
      I understand we may not agree on that, but being on social medias brings visibility... and judgement :)
      and btw, I really like her vlog videos where she rides around on her bike. She is doing great things and I really appreciate her for that ;) that's why I incitated her to stay local, etc. and I suppose you now understood I dont put dgital nomads or vlogs travelers in great esteem, dont worry about that ^^

      @@GC-uq2pd you are right to speak up. Prior to the pandemic frequent business and leisure travel was the norm. Some people take over 100 flights a year.

      Hello dear countryside French person. Just for the record, do you eat or use any animal products?

    • @GC-uq2pd
      @GC-uq2pd Před rokem +3

      @@arnaull3 haha the usual question, which I am used to.
      1st CO2 impact is aviation. I took the airplane during my study abroad (~10y ago) and I even learn to pilot them, because I am an aeronautical engineer. But I left that industry, and I have taken the plane once in 10y to visit my best friend in Turkey, which I regret as I could have avoided it :)
      2nd biggest CO2 impact is car transport. I have a 20y old car which I only use to move home. So I dont use it and I am trying to sell it. I cycle everyday everywhere whenever for whatever reason :)
      3rd biggest CO2 impact is housing. I just acquire my own appartment for my family and inherit from a gas heating system. I plan to change it, but this is costly and I can't afford it. I am sorry for that I do my best.
      4th biggest CO2/CH4 impact is food. I am vegetarian for 10 years now. I don't eat meat and fish. I dont eat/drink any dairy product, except for a bit of goat milk and cheese in small quantities. I dont drink fruit drinks, sodas, alcohol, and only buy local product or from neightbouring countries.
      5th biggest impact is consumption, internet, manufactured goods. And this is where I lag. I am working on that point now.
      At the moment, I am between 3 to 5T CO2eq per year. The goal for 2030 is to be below 5T, and at 2T by 2050. Average French is 10T. Average american is 15T. For reference to fly NY-Paris is ~2/3T, so a bit less than my annual emission.
      But it doesn't make much sense to reduce even more my emission if others do not follow. So I am very active at work and in the general public (activism, association, school) to make people realize the issue and the disaster we are in.
      I also point out that CO2 calculation is a very cropped view of our emission, and that understanding the full sprectrum of it is not an easy task. Therefore I am reading tons of scientific books and listening to scientists on the topics, then discuss it with friends and colleague to share the knwoledge.
      Did I pass your esteem test ? is my life good enough to complain about other people action in this world ? x)
