  • One of the Fashion Valley Mall owners wants to turn the current JCPenney site into luxury housing units.
Simon Property Group announced back in March that it will redo the west end of Fashion Valley with 850 luxury residential units, 100,000 square feet of new shops and eateries.
The development will replace the JCPenney store and adjacent surface parking areas.
JC Penny will remain open through the 2025 holiday season and construction is expected to start on the retail and residential project shortly thereafter.

Hey Brad. Thank you. I'm all in. BUT , the San Diego City Council, SANDAG & CALTRANS need to prioritize the current unfunded Phase 2 of 163/Friars Road interchange. Friars Road West is already bumper to bumper every afternoon during peak hour congestion. The East Line Trolley obviously didn't help HWY.8 East at all.West in the morning too ! Why they can't upgrade the infrastructure BEFORE all those units are completed is beyond my comprehension ! This is from a 35 year resident of Mission Valley.
