I met Jaco in 81 spent 8hrs with him best day ever!!
What went down for those 8 hours Jeff? That has to be a pretty dope story. I’d love to hear. Thanks man!
ske13ok I was working at the Marriott hotel in upstate New York.I was going to see Weather Report that night anyway so that morning my friend who work at the front desk didn’t know who WR was told me they just check in...I ran up the stairs to Jaco room but he wasn’t there. So I figure they must be at sound check or something...So on my way back to where I work at I look out at the pool area and there was Jaco and his wife playing miniature golf we shook hands he sign my work hat and he said let’s go back to his room...We talked.I remember me telling him I play bass as well...All shift long I was going back and forth spending time with him he didn’t have his bass and I almost got fired that day but I did not care it was worth it !!!
Jeff brown Damn! Thanks for sharing man! Ive been on a Jaco bender lately and it’s really pretty cool to hear a story like this from someone who actually met him!
@@spank2424 if i could time travel i'd go to 1985 to meet cliff burton and jaco pastorius. lokey the 80s look like such a nice time to be alive in
@@daan.v4556 If I could go back to that day I met him which really caught me off guard I would’ve ask him more questions 8hrs wasn’t long enough for me lol!
Thank you God, for speaking to us directly. God bless Jaco, forever, word
Thank You a lot, my friend.. That early Jaco stuff always blows my mind! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't ever have heard those masterpieces.. Waiting for more!
You're great!
Mike

Jaco
Should I be the hundredth like or the first dislike? Hmm, that's easy.
This has been on YT for five years and only 8,421 views. WTF is wrong with people? I had a version by Flora Purim with Jaco on, so this is an unexpected pleasure. Thanks for the upload.
thanks for this one
Love this version of Las Olas...watch out for the Waaaaavvvvvvveeeeee!!!! 😎🎸✌🔥
MERAVIGLIOSO JACO
God DAMN!!!! Is there any more of this? PLEASE POST IT!!!!
As good as this sounds imagine how it sounded when you were sitting there in the room hearing it.
Oh mY. Needa Diaper, Jaco my fave but woowwww I aint heard this before. Thanks for the post.
Ira Sullivan is tremendous as usual, mentoring a young Jaco, who at this time was as clean as they come! He wouldn’t have dreamed of putting anything harmful in his body and focused on purity of mind, body and spirit. Ira on Soprano, Flute and aft he cabana. I think that’s the great Joe Diorio on guitar. I wonder who’s on keys?
remarquable comme toujours !!!!!
Wow, i never heard this. I got a record with Pat Metheny from 1974
Keep the love alive!
Awesome Grooving already!
tanks ,tanks and tanks again!
So beautiful, oh man..
Every good music is big in Japan, why are you so surprised?

This music remenber me "Soft Machine" with (for sure) a better bass player than Hugh Hopper
thanks for sharing Joe Di OREO was cool Ira Sullivan is a IRISHJEW they are RICH they have TENURE in Florida Universities as Music Teachers......COULD NOT TAME a Student named 'JACO PASTORIUS" Ira SULLIVANs best RECORD is " HORIZONS" i had it from the public library long enough to steal his version of ' NORWEGIAN WOOD" , by JOHN LENNON a great RECORD also Featurews , "E FLAT, TUBA G "
"Ira Sullivan is a IRISHJEW" and your point is?
It’s fucking godlike. Go back further to the Wayne Cochran CC Riders stuff, it’s also fucking godlike. Try ‘Rice Pudding’. It’s godlike. Definitely not human.
Is this the flute player on Used To Be A Cha Cha?
The flute player on Used To Be a Cha Cha is Hubert Laws, on this recording it is Ira Sullivan
@@artakha14 Cool, thanks!
Hola, podrías pasarme las canciones en mp3 a mi correo? Te estaría muy agradecido.
JACO used to play at TRUMP TOWER
a gig there? what year?
That's because he was a PATRIOT. Libs are probably putting razors to their wrists while reading your comment. :'D
Three thumbs down because of the recording quality I hope...
