It can be argued that an airplane is not “Air Force One” unless the president is onboard. However, Air China’s 747-400 fleet is an outstanding case since it functions much more than just being an “Air Force One”.
Eversince joining Air China’s fleet in the early 90s, 747-400s have been instrumental in Air China’s long haul expansion and China’s diplomacy. Having flown on the first non-stop flight between the United States and China, the first polar crossing performed by Chinese carrier, the Queen’s legacy at Air China also extends to transporting prominent personals such as President Xi of China to most recently North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The 747-400 I had flown is registered as B-2447, currently designated to Chinese Premier Li-Keqiang. The 25 years old Queen carries a total of 344 seats with 10 first class located between door 1 and 2, one of which is my seat for the 3 hours flight from Beijing to Guangzhou.

Great trip report on my favorite plane! I surely miss the 747. It looked like the first class product was excellent despite being a bit dated. Thanks for the tour of the plane. It brings back find memories. Also, I like how you displayed the takeoff settings. Definitely a nice avgeek feature. 😊 Happy new year and best wishes for 2021!
For the suggestion box: leave the descriptive text up for a few moments longer. I found myself pausing several times throughout the vid to read everything before it was removed. The translations were mostly spot on, though.

Honestly spoken I think the interior design of this B 747-400 is as great as the newer -800i.
The colors of the First and Business Class cabins and seats clearly show that these products are special and have atmosphere. And the tour of the plane including the comments is really impressive.

Interesting how the first class is behind the business class, I’m pretty sure it’s because you’ll experience the smoothest ride if you sit over the wings which is where the first class on that plane is located.

Great trip report! Greeting from Vietnam, it's interesting to know that Kim Jong-un had flown this aircraft to my country. The meal was good for this short flight.
When did AC implement LED lighting on those old queens? The lighting appears to be flickering on camera, a surefire way to tell that it's LED lighting.
Actually that seat was developed by AA circa 2000! It was used on the 777 hence not efficient at all for the 744.

Do you think that Xi Jinping will use an Air China 747-400 again, given that Air China has more efficient planes than the 747-400 like the A350, 787, and even the 747-8i and 777-300ER?

Early 21 century is pretty modern! Not bad at all featuring the Terminal 3 dorm! It is just too crowded. You would appreciate the lounge food if you’re from northern part of China. Cup noodles are basically everywhere, such as lounges in Seoul or New York.
That looks like so much fun. Yes! They're going to Guangzhou gonna go make a billion dollars and stuff. Haha, I love it!

i have flown air china in the past, the food was terrible and inedible, especially on domestic flights in china.
Everything was dirty and dingy and my inflight entertainment didn't work on a few flights, which is terrible when you are on a 12 hour trans-pacific flight from LA to Beijing.
i rather pay MORE and book a flight on ANA to get to china...
