- Drunk History’s blasted off to space enough times to put together a little lesson plan about humankind’s relationship with the cosmos.
About Drunk History:
Based on the popular web series, Drunk History is the liquored-up narration of our nation's history. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. Booze helps bring out the truth. It's just that sometimes the truth is a little incoherent.

Jenny Slate saying
“The universe was like... just suck on it for a second... just suck on it for a second.”
Made me laugh SO much 😂😂😂😂
I love her fangirling of all things space 😍😂
🤣🤣🤣
I love Jenny Slate's drunk take on History. Her voice and laugh are adorable.
Yeah, while she's holding her Dog and talking about His Penis and her Full Vagina, shesh !!
@@Stevenisbelieven adorkable
I love how the hand holding the space capsule gets into the shot once in a while.
Love these guys plus how Kinane says "rock n roll" and "Siberia" but check out Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion's DANG for the inspiration
My favorite part
Soo it has just occured to me that Derek pretty much gets other people and himself drunk for a living. Genius.
To tell stories lol genius.
Yeah lol😎 dam he's smooth
Like a bar tender lol. Even you can have that job best of luck.
It is art.
Yes, plus he gets to pick up drunk men. Sounds like bar/lounge to me. Brilliant.
I love how Justin mimics Jennies giggling
He is so damn attractive!
Mr Long is awsome
I died with Gordo seeing the screen come up as "You're F--ked!"
All hilarious stuff from Drunk History!
I laughed so hard I was crying
I met Dr Mae Jameson in Auburn, Alabama back in 2016. She is very laid back and relaxed, but she lights up when she talks about her experiences with NASA
Back in the 90s, our Girls Scout district had a group project where each troop honored a different woman. My troop choose Mae Jemison. I wrote to NASA and requested information about her and she sent me an autographed photograph.
The second story deserves a movie of its own!
It honestly does, dude. Like, holy shit. What a great story.
Kinda gave me an interstellar vibe lol btw amazing movie -edit- but yes this needs to be a movie be really cool !
@@theninedivides6851 Definitely a great movie, but I'm actually getting more of a Gravity vibe.
Gordo was to chill for a movie. 😂
But yeah that'd be cool.
Hidden figures was about that
The real mvp is the hosts' liver.
Im hoping he drinks apple jucie now and then.
@Sir Festus watch out we got a cool guy over here
Danigirl still dtotoositot reeder e suu
Danigirl totally not
Danigirl TS rer
Comedy Central posted an entire episode of a show they have on television? This may be the beginning of a better era.
Not exactly
Oh boy do I have news for you
This didn't age well at all
:(
Derek ellsey
*"How would you like to be floating around in the 80's?.....except this is the 60's"*
Fkin dead lol
I give props to the lip synce, it makes everything so much more funny
Justin Long hit it out of the park with that
Justin giggling along with her LOLOL
The guys renditions of her voice are priceless
Fr they were on point lol.
according to Gordos book leap of faith they said Gordo flew the ship better than the computer.
a true jedi
If I were to write a book. I would get some friends to back my bs. I mean he lived, his story can't all be bs.
@@2stepjoey dude computers capable of landing a ship accurately took a lot longer than you may think.
@@DR-54 and that dude basically eye balled it.
Drunken Greek Mythology please!!
The minatuar story would be perfect
ฯ Inson Minotaur stories are really interesting but I’d be super invested in hearing about Arachne or Persephone becoming the goddess of the underworld!!
@@medusssa3606 I wanna see broken promise to posideon, I wanna see half bull/baby and a hedge maze.
Someone write this down
Yes please! Lol
When speaking of greed gods the addage "drunken" is pretty much unnecessary ^^
"He had a five dollar wristwatch!"
That's about $35 in 2019 money.
Actually, Gordon Cooper used Omega Speedmaster and Omega was still yet one of the best luxury watch brand at that time
@@kevvvykim7840 omega's definitely arent 5 dollars! Beautiful watches.
😂
Is it a bad thing that this is how I explain things when I’m sober?
Yes.
NEGUS MBARKA why not
@NEGUS MBARKA tf?-
That mean your brain not work
I've been binging Drunk History for two days, what a treat, even if I've seen most of it.
HE HAD A FIVE DOLLA WRIST WATCH
finally just started myself
I do that from time to time…doing it now.
Why is Gordo's story new to me? I watch all the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo documentaries... they barely mention him
Gordon Cooper's story is pretty much the coolest space story ever. took full manual control of a failing capsule that was never designed to be flown manually, and landed it closer to the recovery ship than any computer had ever done, and did all the math and trajectory calculation on the capsule window in grease pencil. while mildly hypoxic. absolute legend.
Probably because of his UFO conspiracy theories. Or maybe all the investors that lost money backing his ventures.
From a PR standpoint, he was a terrible choice and I'm sure NASA didn't want any negative press, so maybe he wasn't as "promoted" as much as Armstrong or Aldrin? At the start, dude was married but living with another woman. Both him and his wife decided to keep quiet about their personal lives as much as possible out of greed, because they both saw the potential money that could be made down the line. Not surprising that he's one of the astronauts from that era that DIDN'T really make something from that platform.
1:38 Justin Long effortlessly pulls off best recital line ever on DH. Spectacular stuff!
Jay Bingham yea hah he was on point with the lip sync
Evan Rachel Wood was pretty good but I think the episode wasn't out when you wrote this comment
@@maggiemcfly5267 No it wasn't. And 'pretty good' is of course a gross understatement. Crazy talent. She knocked it way out of the park. Just spectacular stuff!
"What do you got going on with your life?"
"Nothin'."
"Same here."
This is why I freaking love this show
11:32 The mischievous smile on her face when she almost dropped the lamp :')
Good Lord. The way Kyle Kinane shows up on screen, wasted in that SPACE hat..
Watching this drunk. That qualifies as a double drunk experience
The inception of booze
*BWAAAAH*
Now I'm pouring another drink and now my drink is getting sloshed
*BWAAAAAAAH*
Nahhhh dawg same, that means they cancel out. Now we're just learning. I'm almost positive
That's what you call a double blind drunk trial.
“ehh shame shame give me back my balls!!” im dead
"Wolves, bears, all just boners" 😂
Welcome to my world! :D
"Cosmonauts, Astronauts, AnykindaNuts"😂
Whynauts
Alconauts :-D
Colin Hanks is following in his dad's foot steps by playing an Astronaut plagued by ship problems.
It's funny they have Tom hanks son playing in a space skit it reminds me of him in Apollo 13. Kinda irony if you wanna call it that
Right? I wonder if they cast him as a throw back to his dad.
When the guy just suddenly and randomly reaches up and pulls off the Boom mic, I almost hit the floor!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
2:34 wow, the Teletubbies sun is old.
No, thats the Teletubbies sun's dad or uncle, or other male relative.
I don't know, it's a celestial fireball with a face that talks.
We need a Stoned History now, it's legal :)
I predict a lot of "Whooooaaaa, it all makes sense now." ;)
Brilliant!!
Dude, order a pizza.
It would just be honest history lol
The episodes would be ummm. I forgot what I was saying♠
I love Drunk History! Colin Hanks and Jason Ritter are great. I wish them more work.
😂😭🤣 Workaholic’s Adam and Blake as astronauts
Cosmonauts, to be exact.
8:30 The hand wiggling the capsule LOLOLOL! XDDD
9:48 lol they even have sign that says ur effed! 😂amazing
"I know how TV works"
Ikr 😂😂
*rips off mic*
Gordo is really awesome ! Being calm in this situation, it's amazing.
I just found drunk history. This is the most amazing thing I didn't know that I needed. Binge watching commences... see you in 2 weeks. 🤣🤣🤣
"But I have a full vagina."-Jenny Slate
Lmmfao!!!
Jenny Slate is sexy as fuck too
She doesn't even have to be drunk to be funny in this...and yeah she's hot.
She is funny. Conduit closing.
Full of what though? Right after she told us she cut her dogs balls off. Gross.
How is Kyle’s shirt unbuttoned and buttoned at the same time?
Snaps
I laughed WAY too hard when she called New York "YunYork" and Ritter actually mouthed it EXACTLY the way she said it
2:15
"Forget about you, New York" is what I hear
"Whos the most maniac Russian we have ?" 🤣
: "Oh no don't do that"
:" I know how TV works" 😂😂😂😂😂
That hand at 8:36😂
It's so awesome they had Colin Hanks play an astronaut here since one of his father's more iconic movies was Apollo 11. :D I also could be overthinking it.
Wow. It's all correct. Everything she says is in line with the way we try to explain reality as of now, and the things that happened beforehand, kind of happened like she is telling.
Funny enough, this Wilson dude and Penzias, the guys who found that Cosmic Backround Radiation which they thought was pidgeon shit, had a friend from College named Fred Hoyle. Yeah. That one. Sir Fred Hoyle. Now this fellow insisted that the Universe was static and had been there forever (Steady State Theory), he was so sure that he mockingly coined the phrase "Big Bang" during a TV interview because he thought he absolutely had the high ground until someone proved him wrong.
Imagine the awkward night at the Pub when his friends Penzias and Wilson came along and started explaining themselves... that they had basically discovered that Fred's full of shit without even looking for it.: "Oh, and by the way, they wanna give us a Nobel Prize now, LOL, we didn"t even know what we were looking for. But everyone likes this name you've made up... what was it again? Yeah, Big Bang! It kinda sticks, doesn't it? Well... sorry dude... guess drinks are on us."
I like this approach to communicate history and science. It's much more entertaining than someone just clicking through facts of a premade presentation. Of course it cannot replace a proper education, but it may damn well spark some interest in people who now can better relate to stuff they normally wouldn't care about.
Even as a kid, I always preferred history over fantasy stories like Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings.
Studying it is only as boring as you make it, and can get absolutely wild if you know where to look.
silly man
Yes that’s cool and everything but my question is who or what sparked the “Big Bang”?
That question never get answered.
Well said lol. Spot on....
Paul Schmdit Check out the CZcams video “The history of the entire earth I guess” or something like that. Basically a bunch of chemical bonds, but like...a lot of all of that lol
The cast of workaholics playing Russian cosmonauts and ground control could be a movie of it's own, the skit with Adam and Blake was perfect
Flat-earthers must become apoplectic watching this.
Flerfers seem rather prone to apoplexy in general.
this might be the first thing they understand. its public service announcements for dumbasses...
whoa ... this could be the solution. how we solve Trumpism .. the whole thing. just get Fauci and the other scientists drunk first before they do the press conferences.. then they'll all sound like Trump, and it will be accepted.
problem solved.
Cool. You may nominate me for my Nobel prize now..
🛼
"The universe is like, 'Find out about me!'" I laughed so hard at that.
Thank you for giving us Jenny Slate.
they dont even have food, or Sprites®
Yeah, food would have been great like some chickens hot chickens
@NEGUS MBARKA m'kay so... just don't by Sprite or Crack... please.
"Whatta ya got goin' with your life...?"
"Nothing."
"Same here. Ah -- Yess, yess, I'll do it."
Jenny Slate is such a cutie, BOOP!
Jenny Slate is too fuckin funny! lol
the second girl "Im gonna try not to swear" - then proceeds to swear through the entire thing like a sailor lol
Can I just say, thank you for including women in the control room scenes, either as engineers or as computers. It's so easy not to erase them from history - and you didn't!
White people lol
Fadi Pola and what exactly do you mean by that
@@emilykrey5319 white people lol
We need drunk history: Night Witches. It would be awesome
Kyle kinane is one of my favorite drunk story tellers.
9:49 I find it funny when she was saying "wait....Gordo is way more chill than that", and the actor is like "storyteller, please tell me, am I chill or not chill?"
Omg, that's Raven Symone playing Michelle Nichols!
*Nichelle
I'm just the Sun.
I don't give a s°#+!
-the Sun,
Sounds like the Sun watches too much Rick and Morty. 😂
I think I fell in love with Jenny slate
Teachers should play these in class
I might actually learn something
"What do ya got goin on with your life?"
-"Nothin!!"
"we'll do it!"
It took me a second to catch her voice but it's Tammy from Bob's burgers LoL
I love how the composer incorporated Mozart's Lacrimosa into the action score ✊🏾
This has to be one of my favorite DH's of all time. Bring back this guest PLEASE!
I just discovered Drunk History yesterday...Lordy, where have I been....I LOVE these skits !!
"He's the first human being to do something"
How many takes were there? How could people keep straight faces through filming these?
There must be a treasure trove of outtakes.
I would love to watch just one day of filming
5:58 This was the best moment. Not only because she's telling the truth, since 1% of the static your TV picks up is actually radiation emitted by the big bang (Shout-out to PBS Spacetime), but it is also the first time I've watched one of these and, personally, really thought, "Yup... that's drunk me alright.".
Thank you for this Great presentation.🏆🏆🏆
That last dude is the closest thing to a living bobblehead.
Static on old tube TV's is indeed like less than 2% cosmic background.
When she literally cranks the air was when I officialy fell in love with drunk history! This stuffs awesome 👌
"I made it. I'm not surprised. It's me, Gordo." hah, good line
Nichelle Nichols is totally one of my heroes.
"All kinds of 'nauts"
17:10 ...indeed
I never knew Jenny Slate's voice was so soothing, her voice coming out of Justin Long's mouth/his delivery was comedic harmony.
Thank you, Derek, for saving that awesome lamp
It’s always weird to think that what are now grown people watched Family Matters. I mean, for some reason I separate that fact from my waking life.
seeing the Workaholics in space gave me hope in humanity
14:03 First human being to do something 😂
Is it just me or is Kyle Kinane’s head like EXTREMELY big for his body? Lol.
Colin Hanks is a bad ass! He's so funny here!
I loved him on "The Good Guys", really funny show that wasn't on long enough.
Host: dont do that
Derek pulling on the mi
Derek: I KNOWWWWW,
I know how tv works😏
From everything I've ever read about Gordo Cooper, he would've loved the one about him. He really was super chill.
12:05 - "HE HAD A $5 WRIST WATCH!" 😆
I love Jenny Slate. She is so cute and funny!
Now that the first actual image of a black hole has been created, I need to hear Jenny Slate tell that story.
"Just suck on it for a second " LMAO!😂😂
I just love this show!
carl winslow discovered the big bang
Jason Ritter is the best at this
I learned a lot, thx
8:35 i love how you can see the hand😊
Was that really Mae Jemison playing Mae Jemison?
This was NOT covered in The Right Stuff. This guy, later on in his career witnessed a saucer-type craft land near an air force base. Three legs extended, it landed. Humanoid beings got out and took soil samples or something. They got back in and it shot off. It was even filmed according to him.
“But you have to prosper, if you’re gonna live long.” Yes 🙌
This is one of my favorites.
