My uncles who are 60 love playing video games but they sometimes find it hard. They love Rayman and Mario so this is one I’ll be picking up for them.
Yes, possibly a perfect experience in co-op.
@@sparkypack agreed. They love Halo too but when it comes to controlling the camera and shooting it’s real hard for them.
Spyro and Kirby may be good choices too!
I'm 41 and i find nowadays games super difficult...but this bring me back some good memories
They should bring back Epic Mickey!
Yea they should but it might not happen sadly. Disney had some copy right issues with the epic mickey series because of a character in the series that looked like mickey but wasn't him. I don't know the whole details on it to be honest.
@@aqlandmirrorvideogamerandc2983 that was Oswald, but they seem to have no problems making merchandise of him
@@Cooljz87 O ok. I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info
@@Cooljz87 The reason Disney has no problem making merchandise of Oswalt is because they have full rights to the character. sometime after the character was originally created universal got the rights to the character and sometime ago Disney got full rights to the character back. So a Return of epic Mickey would be no problem at all
@@aqlandmirrorvideogamerandc2983that’s Oswald. Copy right was an issue at one point but it’s been rectified a while ago. Oswald is Disney property again.
As someone who occasionally "babysits" my younger friends. I am very interested in this game!

@mitwhitgaming7722 I'm sure you meant no harm, but the implications of your comment are rather suspect, you must admit.
@@_Conzo_ Babysit was only in quotes because I'm not actually getting paid.
@@mitwhitgaming7722 Of course, no harm done!
This game looks fun like games I would play back in the day. Sometimes you don’t want a game that will have you rage quitting and cursing in anger lol it looks fun, visually appealing and chill. I would get it.
That is the exact reason why I want to get it lol 😅
Totally agree! I'd consider this a "cozy game"
Is an awesome game. Get it you won’t regret it.
It's actually nice to finally see a game being released, which is more about casual fun, and not forcing heart-breaking, tear inducing challenge on you.
Games are allowed to be 'easy'.
This is tempting to get, if just to play a nice, casual, none stressful game, for once.
trust! The constant gratification that gamers are all chasing has been a plague on releases and for people who just wanna have fun.
Lol that's what difficulties in the setting/options are for guy, not having a simple feature like that will hurt a games REPLAY VALUE in the long run.
@@bluudevil4483 Who said it's a simple feature? And why do Gamers argue that such a "simple feature" can't be part of Dark Souls? Because when it comes to difficult games, Gamers will fight tooth and nail not to have an easier option, but easy games aren't allowed to be easy, even though that might be a conscious design decision.
@@NuiYabuko it's really up to the devs, they can do whatever they want but as a customer I will give my 2 cents despite whatever the direction the devs in vision for the game. Nothing wrong with having an easy going experience but the majority of gamers simply want options like difficult settings that can appeal to any desired skill level.
I agree with you. I grew up in the 80s and 90s playing a lot of Platformers. I'm happy this isn't another open world game or RPG or whatever else is just a nice classic 2D platformer
My three year old son loves Mickey cartoons, so a few weeks back when we were at my parents house, I played around on their Genesis Mini and played Mickey and Donald: World of Illusion while he watched. The game cracked him up, and that made up my mind right there that I need this title. Very excited to head out and grab a copy tomorrow!
Looks like a fun metroidvania to play co-op with younger players.
Looks like they put Mickey characters over Rayman Legends
I get why people like difficult games but I don't see a reason why someone should lower a review score just because of easier difficulty. In my opinion, making a game easy is the best way to make it accessible for everyone. Especially coming from a person with a disability who has a harder time pressing buttons fast enough. I don't know though. Maybe it's just a dondori issue.😂
I also think the main target audience plays a big role here. I don't think adults that are regular players are the main audience in mind when designing this game. Its main target is kids, I think, and adults can still have their fun with it of course (I will!). A good way to up the experience for players that want a more challenging game is to add a mode in the menu that ups the difficulty significantly.
@@keatsiannightingaleYeah. I think the best thing that games could do is add both easy and hard difficult modes for everyone. It looks like they did their best to add that in this game even though I could understand how they could make it more difficult.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land faced the same criticism. Games like this are clearly not targeted at hardcore gamers. It's foremost about the experience, exploration and the completion.
dandori issue is only present on pikmin
@@mamaluigi429I wanted represent Pikmin though.
I keep coming back to this game and changing my mind about getting it.
On the one hand, it looks very easy, which puts me off cos i know i would get bored.
On the other hand, it looks very easy, which along with the co-op option, means it would be perfect for families as a way to include everyone in on the fun.
I actually like that this game has been developed, particularly for the switch which is seen as the more family friendly console.
Takes me back to the old days where friends would actually sit in the same room and play together! I remember playing super probotector (contra 3: the alien wars to give it it's proper title) with a friend and it was a great experience of a game we would have had very little fun with in single player at the time.
Obviously this is nowhere near as good or as difficult as that game, but i can see people having a similar experience as me and my friend did.
My wife and I will be playing this after we finish Trinity Trigger.
I really liked these cartoons but more importantly my daughter did. So I was most likely getting it anyways but knowing that the cutscene are fully voiced seals the deal.
This is basically Rayman with Disney characters.
No, the series didn't stop after world of illusion, there were 4 games and one remake and I consider the master system/game gear version of castle to be a separate game.
Castle was the game that inspired me to get a mega drive, that and seeing screenshots of the Donald duck game quack shot. The quality of the graphics were amazing at the time
And both these games that you mention still have some really good looking pixel art. They haven't aged much at all. I just recently played through Castle of Illusion for the first time just a couple months ago and I had a great time
This actually looks really fun to play with some friends
Looks fun but i miss the classic Disney animation.
Its worth noting that the last illusion game was probably land of illusion that was released on the master system and game gear in 1993.
I don’t like the speed pacing of the characters, they look like they’re moving in slow motion.
Portal reference at 2:34! I love it!
I fell like this game should get more attetion because it look's really fun
it doesn’t get much attention from the general public cause it’s not gritty or adult oriented. i can’t wait to get it!
@SavinSnails I agree. Plenty of Platformers getting a lot of hype these days. I'm not sure who is publishing this game, but it might be from a smaller company with a smaller marketing budget. That would be my best guess
Great review as always guys! Just a little bit disappointed with this no combat style. I expected someting like Raymen origins/legends
I wasn't a fan of this at first, still not sold on the character art style, but as a platformer it's looking really good. Might grab this used or on sale later
Yeah, it feels like this weird mix of classic and postmodern designs that hits just enough nostalgia points to feel familiar while also feeling very CalTech at the same time...
I hate the art style too, why couldn't it be like World of Illusion
$40 wayyyyy too much for THIS
I just bought this based on this positive review, I don’t understand the hate the graphics get, I like the new art style it reminds me of an indie game but I admit I do prefer the old classic style of the older Disney games.
This game makes me miss Rayman even more.
Hi Felix, hope you are well? I just pre ordered this game so hopefully I can get into it over the weekend. I love Disney so I thought why not..
Anyone know how to complete the dev'd accomplishments
This is going to be absolutely perfect to play with my wife. Color me excited!
is this a better experienced in coop or playing solo would still be a good time?
I tend to say it's way better in co-op.
I'm playing solo, and it's certainly enjoyable enough. That said, like most games, it would be even better with a friend.
Is Oswald unlockable?
Epic mickey for the 3ds looked sorts like this
I can't wait to play this 😊😊😊
So, it's like Rayman legend origins but slower?
thanks for the reviews. cant wait to try this out. Looks super cute.
The UI and art direction looks like this was a mobile game with Disney licensing slapped on top.
Why does the mono eye look so weird on Donald but looks fine on Goofy?
Just bought this game yesterday, played for an hour and I love it so far. And it's so beginner friendly for those that are looking for something to relax with or for those that aren't that great with platformers. :)
Looks fun to me. Thanks Felix!
Looks just like _Rayman Legends._ I wonder if any ex-Ubisoft developers were involved.
Yea I’m about to go pick this up like now 😁
I wanna play as Mickey & Donal duck!! 😁✌🏻
The word Metroidvania instantly puts me off. Why can't we just have games that go from left to right.
Maybe it's just me but I watch a ton of game reviews and the breakdown here felt like it was an obvious 7-8 out of 10. So revealing it as a 9 felt odd...nevertheless, a well done and informative review. Looking forward to playing. Much appreciated. Cheers guys 👍
hey I don’t think they zoomed the camera out far enough
When talking about the “Illusion Series”, as you put it, kindly correct the use of the word “never”, as it did continue past the Sega Genesis, (and I’m not talking about the Game Gear & Master system ports), because an illusion-inspired game was released on the 3DS as part of the Epic Mickey series, but as an homage to the illusion games.
I would have loved if they brought back Mickey's magical quest!
Ya, I was an SNES kid too. Lol...There's some Magical Quest in this game too though.
It looks easy and just a lot of walking around and no interaction with bad guys.
I'm just so happy having grown up in the 80s and 90s and playing all the popular platformers back then. This is a love letter for people like me and also for people that just enjoy a good platformer. No leveling up, figuring anything out, doing fetch quests or anything like that. Just pick up and play and have fun. I'll be getting this one in the next couple weeks
Agreed...same vibe for me. I rented Magical Quest for SNES multiple times as a kid.... Btw, since you're an 80s-90s kid as well, figure you'd be happy to know that there's a physical version. I picked it up at Walmart today 👍 cheers
It reminds me of rayman legends with metroidvania aspects.
Not difficult enough? You must be kidding, this game is a true rage game when you have to navigate through cramped areas filled with enemies, spikes on all walls around you and timed platforms that always vanish just as would need them to land on them. Also, there are places where you don't know what's foreground that you can land on and what's part of the background. 100% recommend it to everyone though, it's genius!
I needed about 5 seconds of this video to know what game the world really needs: a duck tales platformer based on the recent reboot.
This looks good but I don’t know how I feel about it being too easy but I guess it depends on how easy it is
Other reviewers are saying it CAN be super easy, but you can customize the experience to make it challenging. Some of the later platforming actually looks tricky, so I imagine it can at least be decently difficult if you’re playing in one heart mode
It can definitely get a bit tricky. Especially if you play with fewer hearts. I'm playing on the "balanced" difficulty and have died a few times in the first several hours, which feels about right for my preferences. Thankfully, the game is pretty customizable that way.
I don't like the art direction, not that it's ugly per se, but pretty much all original Disney illustrators had much better style than this.
Much older games look better too, today. This doesn't look like Disney, it looks like a generic cartoon.
While not unpleasant, it is just too simplistic and cheap.
Yeah it looks like something you'd see out of a cartoon network flash show like Teen Titans Go, not Disney
@@heyhackurs Probably preparing us for the inevitable AI generated cartoons that we won't watch.
@@LocrianDorian you will be forced to, if you have kids 😂
I can't wait to try this game

One major question remains: can play the game in Danish? 🙃
Is a great fun game. My wife and I play co op and is great.
9/10 for a bare game is crazy
Eh, looks like a lesser Rayman. Didn't catch the mysterious vibe of Castle of Illusion either.
As im getting older my reactions arnnt as fast as they used to be.
I love chill experiences now and stay awy from cod and alikes lol😂
I sticked the fork in the wall and now my landlord would like a word with me about that 😢
I like this game a lot and is similar to a rayman game
I love platforming games tbh
Rewards are concept art? That's lame. Otherwise sounds like a great co-op game!
I miss the old mickey games. This game I think would be okay it has pretty graphics. Good platforming+ upgrades for your ability's and with a metromania style. But seriously no combat that will get boring really fast. Even Yoshi games have combat, and they are fun easy relaxing games. they could have a little combat it didn't need to be a lot but just enough to break up the sameness of just constant platforming. Thats all I'm saying.
As a KH Fan
Hearing Hidden Mickeys trigggered my PTSD
9/10
They did it!!! Wow!! 👏 👏 👏
Buy it. The vibes are immaculate.
Its pretty good and not "too easy" I found this video because im stuck on a part 😅
Yes well worth it the game is amazing beautiful colourful the controls are perfect in every way fun to play and lots of collectibles 10 out of 10 Huges ⭐️ ❤ well done team a fantastic beautiful game so much work and time and money gone into this project well done team physical collection in my big switch collection thank you so much for your talents 😊❤
Looks fun but I despise the art style !
Would have preferred a classic /retro art from 30s/60s with some Silly Symphonies vibes like Cuphead... Much more work ! 😅
How about a disclaimer? Did Disney ask you to give glowing review? Disney has been struggling to make anything of value, and I thinking this is probably overpriced and overhyped as well.
I guess it wouldn't be Gamers without pulling weird conspiracy theories out of their butt.
Is this game essentially to the kingdom hearts story?
Yes this game and Rocko's Modern Life are part and parcel of the Kingdom Heart's experience
Watching on a 10 inch tablet and those characters look very small, I can imagine getting a lot of eye strain playing this on a Switch Lite 🤷🏻♂️
This game is fine. My wife and I played through it, and as a co-op game where there is a gap in skill, it works pretty well. That being said, this is nowhere near the type of game that deserves a 9 out of 10 😂.
He compares this to The Wonderful World Of Mickey Mouse, but it really doesn't look like that show
YOOOO no one told me this was a Medtroidvania!!! MOVE OUTTA MY WAY🏃💨
Beautiful game .. love the 2d platformers..
Graphically, this game looks amazing… but I’m fairly sure the gameplay is kinda “meh”.
Baby’s first MetroidVania
Looks like a perfect title to play with my 7yo
this game would be everything i want if it weren't so slow
Interesting game!
wow we got this instead of epic mickey 3
The characters are way too small and I don't like the art style much either
Doesn't look as good as 2d platformers in 2023 should look
it reminds me of rayman legneds
We need a duck tails game next
I really hate the new artstyle, for the characters.
I am sold🎉
I HATE the fact there is NO combat....are you kidding 😤
9 out of 10 seems high
why does this game reminds me of Rayman Origins 🤔
The gameplay shows spoilers
Babies first metroidvania lol
I refuse to believe they want to make this lobotomized art style part of the "Illusion" series of games. No.
Art direction looks messy and rushed.
Am I the only one that thinks this looks boring? There are 4 playable characters all with exactly the same abilities? Why have more than 1 character then? The graphics look cutesy, but not great. Your move set is basic, the boss battles are all puzzles, it's easy... hard to understand why this game is getting rated so well. Maybe if it comes down to $20 or so.
An ez fammely cuphead game
Woohoo 666th like!
Of course the rainbows 😂
Artstyle and backgrounds look AI generated. Weird and incomplete kind.
