Oh my God -- I couldn't understand why when you said that you kept a species of primate that a link popped up for "best pet reptiles for kids". I had to look through the comments to see what you were talking about lol. I think it's worth saying that non-human primates make terrible pets, and human primates are better for keeping in captivity but they aren't for everybody. Here's how I'd score them using the 5 categories: Handleability: Overall 3/5. As infants they are closer to a 4/5, only because they can easily get hurt when dropped. As toddlers they are more prone to biting, so it goes down to 2/5. Then they are a 5/5 from the ages of 4-11, and from 12-18 they are a 1/5 due to their intense aversion to physical contact from their parents of any kind. Care: 2/5. Most of their care is similar to how you'd care for yourself, except they can't do it themselves, so you have to do everything for them. They also tend to be very superstitious creatures, so you will regularly have to stay up late at night trying to convince them that there is no monster under their bed. Hardiness: 4/5. The only reason they don't get a 5/5 is because some of them have daredevil tendencies, and you may have to deal with a broken bone here or there. Availability: 5/5. In fact, they are so available that they are actually changing the climate of the Earth. Upfront costs: 1/5. There really isn't a more expensive pet. Vet visits, food, enrichment items, and for some, college tuition makes this species very expensive to care for. Overall score: 3/5. Not for everyone, but still much better than the green iguana.
@@newtscamander7713 I saw it! I agree with him in that maybe I rated their handleability too high, but I still disagree with him rating their availability so low. They are so much easier to find than most pet reptiles!
Holy Moly! Three parts. I'm always fascinated by people with a lot of pets. I wish I was as responsible and handy. How do you maintain and keep all of this together? I can't even handle one but that's awesome.
Great video as always, Clint! I didn't know you kept primates. I'd mention that I also have a small primate collection, but my wife says thats a mean way to talk about the kids LoL!
Can’t WAIT for a future false water cobra video when you finally get yours, Clint! In other news (and I’m only sharing this because I’m so excited), my little Piebald ball, Corvus, finally transitioned to frozen-thawed last night! After three months of frustration! 😄

Fantastic video Clint, I have recently subscribed and I just love your content. Greetings from your south African subscriber - The Wild Wonders of Southern Africa
My first reptile wasn’t really mine... I used to have an eastern box turtle come to my yard every summer. Back before the internet I would read every book, encyclopedia, field guide I could get my hands on to try to figure out how to care for it. I would bring it inside for a couple of hours and give it lots of berries and greens which it would eat very readily. Then I would bring him (it was a beautiful male) back outside to do his turtle thing. I would do this often over the course of the summer every year for about 15 years till I moved away. He was my first experience with reptiles and I feel honored to have had a connection with him. Watching you has rekindled my love for animals. Thank you for doing what you do!
Th enthusiasm and passion you have for your reptiles is amazing. I am not allowed to have snakes but I finally convinced my parents to let me get a leopard gecko! I love how chubby and cute they are, and I think that’s the reason I am allowed to get one, they don’t creep out my mom. Reptiles have been my favorite for forever, and I’m so exited to finally get one after wanting one since I was 4.
So two years ago in Hawaii I saw a gold dust day gecko, and I thought it was stunning, but I couldn’t figure out what in the world it was. I mean it was clearly a gecko but I couldn’t figure out what kind. It’s so excellent to know finally!
You can always get a human. You just need to provide them space and a well-equiped enclosure, they even pay you for it. They also can have interesting conversation topics and they aren't agressive despite their size.
Can you do an update, with all the new reptiles you've gotten since this video? I'd love to see how the pictus geckos are doing! Just got my first one!
I absolutely love your channel and want to thank you for all the fun and educational videos you post. You are amazing, and so generous with your time and your knowledge. If I may make one small suggestion, it would be to have a color other than white for your video backgrounds. Your sets look wonderful, but the white color is very harsh and also washes out the color of the animals sometimes. A tan or even light blue or blue-grey color might show off the animals (and even your handsome face!) a bit better. This suggestion is made with kindness; I am a big fan and only mean to help. You are my all-time favorite CZcams-er and I have the utmost respect for you. Looking forward to more great videos!
Perhaps. We're really not a vlog channel, but if it becomes relevant to our purpose, and we develop the capacity to film in lower lighting, we just might. We certainly will do more enclosure build videos in the future.
Hey Clint, today I was at a reptile expo in the Netherlands and it was amazing. I saw an Armadillo lizard (Cordylus cataphractus). Unfortunatly, I wasn't allowed by my parents to buy him. The expo was Huge!
I just got a 7 month old het snow Kenyan sand boa and it's actually the first baby snake I've owned my others have been adults when bought iam in love with him he's called diablo ❤️
Love this and all your videos!! Super informative and interesting! Could you do one on setting up a tank/habitat for a blue tongue skink (like showing everything from empty tank to full setup, sort of step by step)? Thanks!!!
I had a schneider skink when I was a teenager, walked into a pet store and just fell in love with him. A few weeks ago I was at my local horticultural center having a reptile workshop and as soon as I heard they had a skink I HAD to see it and the kid running the area let me hold him. As soon as I got home I started researching blue-tongued skinks and once my kids are both at least 5 I'm planning on getting one. They're the calmest and sweetest lizards I've ever met.
Tiger whiptail's tail goes for daaaays. I looooove these videos! And funny thing, even though I've watched so many of your videos over the last couple months I only realized that I wasn't subscribed until today! dur, +1 subcriber for you, better late than never :)
If you're worried about handling day geckoes and want a way to work with them without fear of losing them. Buy a pop-up tent from the camping section at Walmart. There small, light, portable, cheap, zip shut & have plenty of ventilation.
I have a madagascan gecko. Like yours, she is very shy. I find that it's even more rewarding when you do see them *because* you can't just pick them up whenever. I saw a Day Gecko once in a pet store who seemed extraordinarily friendly towards me. It would follow me on the glass back and forth and when I put my finger up there it didn’t seem like a feeding response as much as curiosity. I was very tempted to get it, but I definitely wasn’t prepared for a new animal, especially one I wasn’t familiar on the care requirements for so I left it there but I do wonder what happened to it.
