  • 1969 Buick Skylark. This was a frame off resto-mod. The underside was completely cleaned up and painted. The frame was boxed using an HPI kit. It took 6 years to complete in my "spare" time.

    The color looks like the color available on the 1972 Gran Sport Skylark.

      Thanks a lot, I appreciate it! That hood has a lot of man hours in it, ha! I didn't mention it in the video but it has a lot of reinforcing that was done as well.

      @@probuick3317 I'm sure it was a lot of time. I'm a body man/painter. I havn't tryed it yet. lol. A lot of purists would bark at it. But I love it. I did a Trans AM shaker hood on mine years ago. It was a love hate thing for sure. If your not already, you should join Stepchild group on Facebook. Really nice car man.

      Thanks Darrell. I've been told that the Northwest Buick Club of America would frown on this car and most likely the body mods....as a body guy you can appreciate the hours in that hood as well as the front spoiler. I came up with the design and a buddy that's a "glass man" made it real. It's not a lite piece as it's been reinforced quite a bit....

      69 not a 68.
      Just the keys not in the dash it's in the column which is where GM put them in 69 except in pickups

    I am building a 69 skylark, with a Procharged 496. How did you fit the 295 55 15's on the back? mini tube kit? what offset wheel? thanks in advance

    • @probuick3317
      @probuick3317  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello,
      Is that a 496 Buick?? Anyway, I have a companion "Part 2" video that goes over the engine compartment stuff and how I went about it. Probably a lot more fabbing with a Big Block Buick like mine.....
      The car was not mini tubbed. The wheels are 15x8 (the narrowest you can use with 295's) with a 5 1/2" backspace. The rearend was narrowed 1/2 on each side as well but not sure if I needed to do that. I also cut out the "bump" on the inner side of the upper wheel opening and made a flat splash to cover it up. Also trimmed the lip on that opening way back.
      BE ADVISED: With this set up, meaning the coil overs, this rearend (Ford 9 inch) and these wheels and tires, I have to jack the car up as high as it will go, put it on jack stands, unload the coil overs, un-bolt them at the bottom and lower the rear end all to get the wheels and tires out. The main hangup are the longer wheel lug studs. They are required for slicks (which I never run) I installed them as a just in case thing. In hindsight I wish I hadn't. Doing all that and it's still really tight, but doable. Also, in my opinion well worth it.

    yep, by the sounds of the sirens..and who knows who owns his state........69 skylark owners can't compete with us 72 skylark owners in California
