    In 1981, I talked to Stu Thomson bmx champion. I asked him how could I improve on getting faster? He said, "Work on your starts and take off the brakes." He said."Once you get used to being out of control. That's when you're in control."

    Very helpful description of the handling differences. I want something to feel more bmx than my full-sus mtb, so 27.5 it is. I want to buy something nimble for basic tricks and wheelies that I am happy to take around town on the streets.

    thanks for the vid. I'm late on the trend of big bikes. But always have been a bicycle rider and I've rode motorcycles for a decade now. Looking forward to get my first big bike. This was very helpful and informative. I'm 6'0 but think I'm still going to get a 26"-27.5" bike, though I'm not in to tricks. Looking to cruise and wheelie. It's a higher center of mass on the 29, meaning when you get into a lean, you cut back much harder on them because it feels heavier being higher on the same lean angle. Geometry helps you learn everything easier.

    If your worried about running hydro disc due to being stranded, check out the TRP HY/RD Cable-Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brake, you run a whatever cable pull lever you want and cable all the way down to the sealed hydro caliper that’s cable actuated . That way you ever snap your cable the nearest bike shop or you homie should have a cable , instead of trying to find someone with hydro line, the right Ferrells and brake fluid, then have to bleed them!

    Now that I've finally had enough time on the 27.5 I can definitely say that a 27.5 is easier to get the wheel up than a 29, but so far the 29 feels easier to stay up.
    Could come from the fact that I've had more riding time on a 29 than the 27.5 though

    • @UrbanMisfit
      @UrbanMisfit Před 3 lety +2

      The 27.5 balance point is typically taller or closer to 12 O’clock vs 29 balance point which is typically lower because the frames are longer on the 29.

    The balance point is hardly affected. We're talking 1.5" height difference. The balance point is more affected by the circumference of the wheel which is, again, minimal. Another thing to consider is lateral stability. As in side to side movement and how much the wheel can tolerate before resembling a taco.
    Magura brake is dope. I wish i could put one up front as well.
