I don’t see in scripture where satan is called a worship leader I’ve heard it repeated but I can’t find it in context, idk I don’t mean to irritate you over this I just personally don’t see it. I got called to learn music after years of suffering as a born again Christian, I never really liked the worship music at church that much always felt it was too slow, monotonous idk didn’t feel it very much most of the time I think lyrics could be better personally but maybe I’m being picky, we worship when we suffer for His sake to love those who hate us, God can be found in secular music and he continuously speaks through secular music to me we as a people strain at a gnat over all these things saying they can’t be of God that it’s all evil but don’t look at the true meaning of things what’s important and what message you get from a song.

Most of the church can’t even tell the Bible is supernaturally changing which makes it hard to not isolate. Moses was the one who did the miracles like the end of deuteronomy states and the prince of Egypt movie still shows but Mandela effect changed scriptures to show Aaron doing this stuff like this happens all over the Bible I just got disgusted with part of psalms saying God has darkness as his covering etc that’s not familiar and doesn’t resonate with me God is light in Him there is no darkness at all

I feel you brother. I led worship at a 3k person church from about 12-22ish and I had to eventually step down because it was extremely difficult to not let it get to my head when people after service would come up, shake my hand and basically treat me like some famous person. I had to get my heart right. I still haven’t led worship in a congregation since and I’m 35 now but man I’ve had some of the best worship moments with just my wife and kids in our living room. I envy those who can lead worship for a living, get paid, go on tour and don’t let it get to their head… or do they? I guess we’ll never know. Great vid. We need more discussions like this.

Yes, faith in Christ as your Lord and savior, by means of his death and resurrection brings about salvation, but the Holy Spirit will not allow for you to not go about doing good works, that’s just what it naturally produces in a change of heart.

Love love this! You're so right. Before covid, I was on the worship team as a backup singer who never lead a song. My fellow parishioners would regularly compliment me on how the fire of the Lord was moving in me. I would share with them that my worship began long before I hit the stage. I would tell them I find it ironic that many of us had a preparation process to hype ourselves us to party when we we're in the world (such as the pre-drinking, pre-dancing, & pre-talk we gave ourselves in the mirror as we put our clothes on) but when we come to Jesus and go to church, we don't see the need. We come cold, waiting for somebody or something else to light our fire. I would let them know how I arrived to church on fire and not the other way around. Amen brother!

In the year 2010 my wife had a dream. She said that she was in a church worship service and she was being translated from one place to another throughout the church, from the back to the side to the front and then up on stage among the worship team and every time she was translated to a new spot within the church. She would stand and say where is Jesus?
By the time she got up on the stage with the worship team she was in tears crying asking where is Jesus?
She realized the worship service was just a concert, with multiple musicians, lights, fog machines and theatrics.
She said that she felt a grievance of the Holy Spirit so intense that it pierced her heart, she was completely heart broken.
She woke me up with her sobbing and crying. I asked what was wrong. She shared the dream with me.
Ultimately when we come to Christ and surrender to His Lordship. He gives us a new heart and a new song in our mouth.
The problem is that we are not surrendered to His Lordship which is the result of the lack of surrender, which allows the new heart and new song to fade from us.
The new heart and song is worshipping in Spirit and Truth. Thats when His presence fills the temple of flesh. Ive seen oil drip from the hands of a girl landjng on the carpet. I approached the young lady with her eyes closed.
I caught the oil in my hands!
She opened her eyes and I told her oil is dripping from your hands!
She smiled, closed her eyes and returned to worshipping the King of Kings.
    Where is Jesus?

Hey Jake, I am 65 years old and though I could rant forever about all the grace God poured into my life through all my failures and victories, it took me way too long to get what worship is truly about. You nailed it with wisdom beyond your youth. After being out of the church for more than 10 years, my wife and I sensed the Lord beckoning us to return in 2016. After joining a church, I volunteered on the worship team. It had been more than 30 years since I was involved in leading a worship service. The last time I did, all we had were old amplifiers, a cheap sound system and overheads charts (you probably have no idea what these are ;) but it was all so simple and easy. Now, I needed an iPad, in ear monitor with a metronome, an Avion thing? a sound engineer, we were told how we should stand on stage (apparently I don't know how to stand religiously ! )etc etc. I lasted a little over a year and quit because I realized I started resenting doing 'worship'. When did the church stop worshipping and switched to Sunday Morning concerts? That's what it is now. The only time now that we experience true worship is in our house with brothers and sisters with whom we share our lives with each week. Sorry for the rant.
Keep it up, young leaders need to hear what you have to say. I'm now subscribed.

    Edited to add:
I never thought I would have to explain myself (sigh). People are quoting biblical texts that talks about smoke in the temple and lighting rumbling on the mountain and the incense used in their churches etc.
I am of course talking about the man-made smoke machines and the glitter ball/retro lights used in discos which has now seeped into our Churches.

Totally agree, but let me also add another perspective... Lights up, piano only, old time "Gaither-style" music in a southern church full of seniors, and it's no different than the smoke and lights. It's still a "worship leader" showing off, singing harmonies, more out of their love of the music of their younger days in the Quartet than their desire to actually worship (and lead true worship). It's still musicians more interested in skill and appearance than dedication to a Godly life.
Old people sitting there LISTENING to their favorites hymns from the "old times" is the same as young people jumping up and down LISTENING to their favorite songs from KLove. It's all just a self-serving show and not about worship either way. It's all self-satisfaction. It's still a "concert" when the intention is examined. God can be just as unimpressed with Orthodox chanting, Southern hymns, and click track rock songs.
So IMO, the problem isn't one extreme or the other when it comes to stage design or musical style. The problem is Christians of all style spectrums are just going through the motions, putting on a show, and selfishly worrying about what guitar pedal they need to dial in to sound exactly like the Hillsong record, or playing "I'll fly away" every week because old Lucy who helped buy the pews really enjoys that one. God can and is glorified and duly worshipped with "Hymn #482 - When the roll is called up yonder" no differently than "Ann Wilson - My Jesus" so long as the heart of the person is truly using the music as a vehicle to adore and praise God. Sadly, a lot of people, myself most of all, need to re-examine if God is truly our focus in our hearts. And if so, the production doesn't really matter and will self-correct if needed.

Ask yourself this question why do I go to church? we go to church to fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, to edify and to praise and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus, and also to be fed spiritual food you can't get that sitting at home in your 4 walls to think otherwise you are only deceiving yourself.

90% of churches in America are 501c3 which are in bed with the government . Not only have these churches compromised and became Judas, but they compromised the Gospel with the acceptance of false teachings, false religious activities, and acceptance of other religions. These churches claim they have Christ as the Lord but have traded the truth in for a lie.
Furthermore Christ is more alive to Bible believing Christians than church goers because a lot of biblical Christians are choosing to obey the Lord and his commandments over church attendance.
For the Lord is pleased with obedience rather than sacrifice.
Most modern day church buildings have mortgages larger than the congregants yearly wages, they traded discipleship with fake church activities, false worship, and pre-timed/ pre-planned services that are man centered. Most congregants are Luke warm , unreliable, and fake.
      My point is:
A lot of Biblical Christians are choosing not to compromise themselves with government run churches. They see what's happening and the churches disobedience to Christ and want absolutely nothing to do with it.
That doesn't mean they neglect fellowship. Making a statement by using scripture without the full context of biblical understanding without asking real questions proves my point.
Most modern day churches members who came in unsaved are worse off than they came in because of compromised leadership that are narcissistic and want to be worshipped. They misrepresent scripture, cherry pick it, and butcher it to justify themselves in sin, and their church's doctrinal statement.
When you train your children in Cesars palace and bring them in the church without regard to biblical standards it creates lawlessness and complacency within the church.
Most church goers that call themselves "Christian mothers" send their children to cesaer palace from preK-12 and are choosing not to obey Christ to train them up. They also rely on 45 mins of water down hypnotic worship and 15 min motivation speaking sprinkled with scriptures to raise their children while they go be boss moms.
45 mins - 1 hour of " church attendance" is not enough biblical training for anyone let alone children.
Refusing to go to Cesaer palace for fellowship doesn't make this person deceived. It makes this person wise unto salvation.
Most bible believing Christians can't stand water down worship, water down motivational speaking, and false relationships. Most Bible believing Christians don't neglect fellowship with other believers they refuse to go along with the perpetuated lie to go to a building and be with compromised leadership and Christian in name only.

Hello! Im Catholic and I LOVE the points you make in this video. You make a point about Worship being a sacrifice. And Yes!! This is it! We are to give ourselves fully in thanksgiving of our Lord and God. The greatest gift we can give God is himself, in the flesh, so we make this sacrifice every Sunday to our Lord, true worship is unity with christ, spiritual AND physical, this is why we partake in the Eucharist which is the true prescence of Christ, not just a symbol! It truly is a gift to be connected to my Lord in this beautiful intimate way. God bless you brother and thank you for this video!

Have to tell you, nothing makes you understand your sinfulness and the grace of God more powerfully than when you go forward to receive the Eucharist as a Catholic. Read the Bible, literally, not as you have been told. There is nothing in John 6 that says that when Jesus said “this is my body” he meant it symbolically. Quite opposite. I personally have not found much a connection to worship through song and dancing. I am very serious, also playful, and always natural and real, full of love but not weird. Much of the time I simply rest in God and He rests in me while the Holy Spirit informs me of many things. I talk back once in awhile but God usually likes to sit there and dump info. Often I am infused with so much of Gods presence and love that I feel as if my soul is drowned helplessly in an ocean of love, where I can hardly compose myself. Beauty, power, truth, love, and justice is where I find peace. I could talk for so much even on just this. The way I understand what I say in comparison to others, I could elaborate for awhile😁😏

Several years back, God used Colossians 3:16 to help me form my philosophy of worship where I believe the order of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs carries an order of importance. Sadly, most churches today seem to have flipped that order with most songs being testimonial (spiritual songs), occasionally singing hymns, and rarely (if ever) singing Psalms.

I encourage you to be in the Word. If you need to be discipled and mentored seek that out. You are in such an important position of leadership that it should not be taken lightly. It is so easy to misspeak unintentionally on that platform and that is serious stuff! God bless you in this role. I have seen some churches place a great musician in that role but Biblically illiterate…dangerous combination. I love how our worship pastor reminds us of the meaning of worship, prays over our congregation, chooses songs rich in sound doctrine, and disciples his team in the Lord first, and musically second. He remains humble and takes every opportunity to teach on the meaning of worship. If you aren’t in the Word, you can’t do that. When people clap, he continually reminds the congregation of where our praise should be directed. Through it, people are discipled in the Lord. New people come every week and they think it’s a “great performance.” They don’t know any better so worship leaders need to continually teach on the meaning of worship. When people compliment him on his “performance” he is ready with a response that immediately takes the focus off of him and places it in its rightful place. Just some thoughts❤

I've felt this tug. I think anyone who works or volunteers in ministry feels it. It often gets to a point where it becomes a job to be done. We are so distracted with the planning, rehearsing, and the execution of worship that the band members, pastor, and AV crew don't feel like WE have time to worship. We're too busy planning worship to worship!
The problem compounds on itself as well. We (in ministry) often make excuses not to spend private time with the Lord because "well, I do it every week preparing for worship."
    To boil it down simply:
We spend so much time preparing meaningful worship for OTHERS that we fail to find OUR OWN meaningful worship.

Thank you for speaking the TRUTH. This conviction is what we all need. It brings us back to the Father. Thank you God!
As you started to share, I said out loud - “God what are you doing?”
The reality is that God is doing something in church, he’s rising up True worshipers. Opening the eyes of the blind. Yes you may think, how could I be blind? I go to church, I serve at church, I serve God yet we don’t know Him and He doesn’t know us.
God bless you for stepping out and speaking to the church. The church thinks we’re only supposed to save the lost.. Yet there’s so many in Church that are lost and need to reconnect their faith back to God.
I often remember Daniel‘s prayer in Daniel chapter 9. He said forgive us all. Even though one could count himself out because he sees a people in need in Jesus… no he counted himself just like them. Lowering himself down and saying forgive us all. Once we start praying for each other and asking God for repentance and all of our lives, that’s when I believe breakthrough will happen in the church.
Forgive us all Father. We’ve lost our way and are in need of you daily in our personal lives. Bring us back to our first love! 🙏🏼

I don't go to church, the last time I went to church it just felt like it was all about the concert especially to the performers. I do read the Bible daily though and have for years now. Another part of this that really spoke to me though was when you said that people expect something from God when they go to worship and I have to admit that I have been guilty of this myself, but I also came to realize that when I read my Bible as I do daily that God always does give me something and I just wasn't seeing it before until I watched your video and I watched it twice. For instance today I was reading in the book of Luke Chapter 7 where Jesus was speaking in parable and he said to one of the Pharisees " There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which one of them will love him most? " Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, "Thou hast rightly judged." I really felt that God gave me that message this morning, so he did give me something. I know that I am a terrible sinner and I owe a great debt and I know that God wants to forgive me. I just wanted to share that.

Worship is an attitude of the heart, it isn’t a song or a dance in church. “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”. “Without holiness, no man shall see God”.

YES!!! I too am a worship leader and have been for 25 years and I can't do it anymore. It's all about emotional manipulation, the smoke, the lights, the concert like venue. I just can't do it anymore, Worship is not suppose to be like that AT ALL. Love this video, thank you! The American Christian church is so far off base from what Christ intended.

Yes. I went through this in 22. Took some time in church but not serving to just heal. God opened up an opportunity with healthy leadership, then I got to slowly learn from others that could discern the Holy Spirit
And slowly, God began to show me more and more of His heart as He could trust me more and more

Thank you for sharing your heart. I am a Catholic mother from the other side of the world. Yes, true worship is sacrifice. On Sundays and any Mass any and every day of the week, we come to bring ourselves as a sacrifice and Jesus, in his Real Presence(Please read the latter part of John 6 which is sadly ignored by many) gives himself to us. Many Catholics do not fully appreciate how the sacrifice of the Mass brings Heaven and earth together at that time. Holy Mass always ends with our priest sending us out, after our sharing in this sacrifice, to ‘go out and glorify the Lord with your life’ or a similar command. I don’t have to tell you that many of us fall short or sadly just go through the motions, but when we truly respond to that gift of Christ himself and God’s grace to grow in knowledge of Christ, body, blood, soul and divinity, we get the tiniest bit closer to being Christlike. Our joys, challenges, sufferings, mistakes, yes our sins, then all matter, because that is all of our sacrifice. And God can and will use it all for good, we don’t have to know how, who, when or where. Peace be with you🙏🏾

Hey Brian, first of all thank you for sharing your story you are right so congrats for coming out. Allow me to say my genius love sharing opinion.
I hear you , now I think worship is not the problem it’s maybe the people themselves and the church beliefs and culture. I can from Uganda 🇺🇬 east Africa and this is our we are taught everyone of us is encouraged to pray daily and fast some days in the week but not taking a whole week without fasting and churches are open almost everyday some day and night for people who work, now if you are a minister at the pulpit you out to gather go to the mountain with the main pastor dry fast and pray as the spirit leads and also every week there a overnight for ministers in church and they meet frequently before they start to minister, this helps the fire burning.
Sometimes the secret place is not easy alone but as long as you have a community it helps you catch fire which fire will fuel your secret .
Another thing consecration is really key we are taught to let go of the secular world music , tv shows , gossip , some fashions ,some company a lot of things as these take off of fires .. so maybe it’s highly time we did as well a lot of thing that we do which I can’t put here.
Also we should learn that worship is not about us but God alone and it’s beyond music and instruments but it’s more of INTIMACY with GOD EXALTING BEYOND THE STRUGGLES making them not insignificant like they don’t exist at all ❤

Wow!! Hearing what you said is so true!! It's important to get in the word daily but also early morning before the sun comes up just as Jesus would pray in the Garden of Gethsemane while the disciples slept. We can be like Jesus and pray and be filled with the word even before we go to sunday service and even throughout the week before we continue with the rest of our days in each week!!! Hope this can give you an idea of when we can spend our time with God! Blessings!
Same goes with worship as well.. most of the time in the church I attend, we are all singing hymns and everyone is using their voices and our instruments is our hands! It feels great because we all are doing it together and we all have the Zeal to do it!!

Well said Jake. I recently stepped away from leading because I do not like the direction the North American church is going. I got saved at 29. Saved from a selfish life of partying, playing in a touring rock band and slowly destroying my life. I put my guitar case under my bed and never touched it for 7 years. Finally, the Lord called me to be a worship leader and I have played for him for over 30 years, but now the average Sunday morning service sounds more like a rock concert than a service. When the volumes are so loud you can’t even heard the person next to you singing and the auditorium is black and the stage lights are so bright they hurt you eyes…..I feel like I’m back on tour with the old band. There are times and venues for concerts and loud music, but Sunday morning service in a church of 200 or less, is not that place to try to take the roof of the building. I agree 1000%……”christians” are coming to church empty looking for thrilled and excitement instead of coming full of God and ready to serve.

I agree with you, i felt uneasy at a church pastor always praising the worship team, individually saying good things about his team and the church itself, money was another issue or red flags i picked up. I was baptist in this church and the pool set up out side the church for the occasion. I was excited because it started raining and that gave me strength knowing God is blessing the water I'm about to be baptist in. I believe from that day onwards the holy spirit was doing it's work in me, i started realising this church was not worshipping Jesus correctly and alot of discouraging things happened i left the church and also my toxic marriage that led me to this church. Praise God for our gift of discernment 🙌. All glory to God for saving us from these disception around our lives 🙏🙌
