The 2 to 3 year period within which this album came out was such a great time in music. It seemed like so many new acts were bursting on the scene, back to back to back. It’s now 2020 and this song just hits me harder than ever.
_"You had a dirty look, you caught me on your hook..."_ I can't even mention this song to someone without getting it stuck in my head for the day. That sort of catchiness is - _ahem_ - hard to beat.
I had to find the official hard-fi video streams because the sound quality of the others were killing my ears. Not a band I really followed however they ain't too bad.
I saw Hard Fi at the Brighton Centre in 2006 and again at Swindon Oasis the following year. I'm now 50 and a kid I work with who raves about Hard Fi was gobsmacked when I told him I'd seen them live, mainly because he thinks I'm some old granny who should be at home knitting.
I was at the Brighton centre in 2006 too! Their first album, i thought they'd go on to do more, some bands are only destined to do the one great album. Can't believe that's 14 years ago now! Great days!
That bass line gets me every time, love this band, miss those indie days, time just seemed simpler and the music on the radio were tunes like this with artists that actually played instruments, I wanna throw one of my friends some love as he's always been there for me, if a music producer now and heavily influenced by our high school indie days, try searching Lonely Gimmick - Grumpy Days, despite the name its a very happy indie track, its honestly such a great tune well worth a listen!
Sophie Ellis-Bextor included this track in tonight's BBC2 radio broadcast and took me back to the second half of the 00's. What an awesome band and song.
@@sampletext8552 music always was awful, just like music always was great Today there is Kaleo, Rival Sons, Nothing But Thieves, Greta Van Fleet You should search for music, don't say shit :)
I used to absolutely love them ages ago. I lost the cd and found it and I can't believe how underrated they still are. All there songs are fantastic, catchy, let's say "Hard to" not love.
I remember first listening to this song when I was in middle school I heard this song on my iPod nano radio. I’ve looked and search for this song for a long time! and now I can finally rest 😇
The soundtrack to me moving to London. This song will never leave me. How did they not do well, yet Kanye still continues to pump out shit and do okay?! Mental!
Because Kanye sold his soul to the New World Order Khazarian mafia in exchange for a worldwide platform and fame and fortune whereas this guy seems to have more depth and integrity. When you’ve got integrity your platform gets strangulated.
Most of us have had a night like this, wether it moved on to something longer lasting or not the feeling on the night is the best feeling in the world, still a fantastic song even after all these years ❤
It was only seen on Now 61. However, I first heard that song on MTV Indie Revolution. I really like it. And it was also seen on other compilation albums.
The first time I heard this, I thought it was a lost gem from the 70's. The drums/bass/guitar & vocals are really tight. A good funk/rock song from talented musicians.
Absolutely loved this band, they got me through some hard times. Two magnificent first albums. I don't think they made a third did they? I think the mainstream overlooked them because they talk about real life and real problems. Too authentic for the fake music industry.
What a fucking brilliant track. Good ole Staines. (Remember getting well and truly stood up outside The Phoenix back in 83 - still better days than now)
There's three young romances happening in this vid'... takes me back to my youth..(It's the eye contact & body language, well acted out fair play, Hard to Beat even. )
This is one of my all time favourite songs, had it in my head all day today driving from Lincoln to York then to Leeds and then Bradford and then back home.
This album ended up so full of scratches that i had to buy a second one lol... now i dont know where the hell it is but thanks to internet i have all their songs on my phone
This song reminds me of a beautiful holiday romance I had with a gorgeous woman in Spain called Michelle. Played this nonstop and loud. There album was pretty good too. Good times.
Hard Fi were massively underated.
100%
I didn't think the album was that great, I remember being disappointed after this single
Brasil
@Gareth Styles. They didn't even exist in the 90s
It’s a shame he couldn’t sing
Moment of silence for the people who still haven't found this masterpiece
I had to sing it into Google 😬 I misremembered the chorus as something like “like a fish, hard to bait” lol
ye
Omg I was obsessed with this song, it took me 16 years to find it...
Brilliant song. Thought hard fi had a great sound about them " no pun intended "
Had this at my dad's funeral was an absolutely quality moment going through his life. Will never forget this song ♥️
❤️
Rest in Peace
thank you for having shared this to everyone!
Man, this comment made me tead up a little. What a rockstar.
Stars of CCTV was gem after gem . All songs were great This song made me buy the album . I would listen to the album on repeat for days .
Wild Milkman Me too. highly addictive listening. great band. Loved Stars of CCTV so much.
One of the few artists that really earned the money I spent for them.
Still listening to it ! Saw them live back in the day. awesome night out. Shame the singer got shit faced on coke and blew the band up :(

Roy S Is that what happened always wondered they seemed to have just disappeared:-(

AWESOME TIME FOR INDIE ROCK!
yeah music is all the same now. everything is black people music
indie rock was mainstream during that period
_"You had a dirty look, you caught me on your hook..."_
I can't even mention this song to someone without getting it stuck in my head for the day. That sort of catchiness is - _ahem_ - hard to beat.
So. Nic
cool song
Blast from the past :D

@@suecondon1685 me to. Being 54 i wud take my children if need be. Loved hard fi and their 2 albums.
The kids today?! These... millennials. Wouldn’t know a decent live gig if it “Hit them like a fist”

Oh yes, I miss the Indie days so much.
Dub stranglers bass sound. It's great.
I love how normal this music video is
sparrowhead hawkins
Yeah, hahaha, without supermodels and shit
Cool song but the video is...well yeah. Plain,
it's adorable.
It’s great. Love this song and album. Great memories
Yes, no shuddering arses in the screen, more of todays music vids should be like this.
1999 to 2005 was the best time for indie and brit pop!
The 'catchiness factor' of this song really is 'hard to beat'.
2024 and still love this song and this band 💕
"Sitting at home, sitting on a bus, all I ever do is think about us" I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!
Here on the 4 th of July 2021 this song should be released again ,,, absolutely class 💯👍👌🇬🇧
Yes🔥🔥
I miss this band. They were the soundtrack of my teenage years. I hope one day they make a comeback.
they are doing just that! now!
Touring now mate! Get booked.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor included this track in tonight's BBC2 radio broadcast and took me back to the second half of the 00's. What an awesome band and song.
Summer 2005 and this video was played on the old music channels all the time.
Summed up a lovely period for me.
this is such a underrated song
Fun fact; part of this was filmed in my local nightclub in the glorious town of Staines! 😍
This era of music hasn't been matched since. Great to be alive and going out every weekend back then
Late to the party I guess....... 47 and only just found Hard-Fi this year..... better late than never I guess! Fucking awesome.... the real deal
Good taste is timeless man
It puzzles me that a quality band like these, where they actually play the instruments are thought of less than a manufactured product of a company.
im 41, heard them on the Chris Moyles show on Radio 1 yeas ago. im in the states btw, so it was amazing when I first heard them
Amazing song. The energy and excitement this song makes me feel 👌
2018? Miss bands like this
No gimmicks, all about the music
So true. Those days were ace.
me too
I miss those days, fuck everyone who likes today's trash music, it's awful. 🤢🙅🏿♂️
@@sampletext8552 music always was awful, just like music always was great

I heard this on my way to work this morning and remembered how much I loved this song when it came out! Hard-Fi were massively underrated.
Anyone still listening in 2020?
This song man, just does it for me ...
Under rated as fuck... 31 years old and they were the band who gave us so much to relate too
60+ and I think this is brilliant 👏 loved it from get go
I found it again. Lost that song for the past 10 years. will be on heavy rotation now. 👽🤘
@ironkaras I wish I knew! My personal love life compares.. also there are some naughty anime books ;) hard to beat.. :D
I used to absolutely love them ages ago. I lost the cd and found it and I can't believe how underrated they still are. All there songs are fantastic, catchy, let's say "Hard to" not love.
it took me 7 years to find this song

Probably coz he is black.
Lol when this song came out we all took life for granted 😂
Most of us have had a night like this, wether it moved on to something longer lasting or not the feeling on the night is the best feeling in the world, still a fantastic song even after all these years ❤
Back when England was great 😢
Best live band I’ve ever seen, saw them at the Apollo
When you ordered the premiership on ppv, you knew it was going DOWN!
Love this song! YES, happy I found it in 2023. It’s on repeat.
My number one track, I would play this over and over .love it 18 years later.
I left London when this song first came out. I am really missing it now and wish I never left and came back to Canada. I will always love British!
I love this video. It has such a realistic non actorish vibe that captures my heart.
You slaaaaaaaaaaaag !
The sound of my youth. Still a fantastic song.

I love this british style with the guitars.. Nice Voice 😊👍 this Song was so underrated..
I walked back down the aisle to this song when I got married 2 years ago! It wasn't a church obviously! But it worked for us! Still love it now!
Outstanding underrated band
Absolutely loved this band, they got me through some hard times. Two magnificent first albums. I don't think they made a third did they?
I think the mainstream overlooked them because they talk about real life and real problems. Too authentic for the fake music industry.
They did indeed make a third record.
That's why I loved them so much. I was 21 at the time and almost all the songs related to my life. So underrated
Met the fella that would become my husband when this was playing at a party.❤️💋
