    Considering it’s been properly demolished and not just dismantled, it’s not coming back

  • @MattTalkTech

    Sadly for track wise you will never see the original again. In 2019 the track got analysed one last time and due to the fact it hadn’t been looked after since 2012, it was to far gone with rust and deemed it would be near impossible to take apart without breaking it. The track got destroyed in February 2020. So it’s gone for good sadly 😔. Have a Google of some UK articles for Feb 2020 with the Knightmare

    Such a unique breed of a Coaster that got treated poorly since the Park's closure. I never got to ride it, but remember seeing it on the UK Coasters Website & seen it's construction progress when it was being re-built a Camealot. Was devastated when I saw it was destroyed in Feb 2020.

    @Stuntpilot22 Před 2 lety +19

    As much as it hurts for me to say this, there is zero chance this coaster will ever come back. The demolition video quite clearly showed the coaster’s track and support being torn apart and destroyed. If it was dismantled earlier, it may have had a chance at another park, but sitting SBNO for so long in it’s given environment took it’s toll and rendered it more expensive to repair than to just buy a new roller coaster of similar intensity.
    So yeah, suffice to say Knightmare is gone forever.

    I never got to ride this, but I did go to Camelot a couple of times. Though as I was (and still am) closer to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, that’s always the preferable park due to more and frankly better rides.

    Home park. Gutted when it closed, shame. No chance of it being rebuilt, it was literally ripped down and snapped apart. Drove past the other day. They are using the remainder of the park for a zombie style drive through attraction

    it was a fun ride when it opened, got to ride it a few times... but i do have to say you got some of your timelines a little out of order.... the Southport planning was the first rumour after the park closed, and there was even a model created that showed the planning application, bright red and white paint job but the council wouldn't allow it, the train falling off the lorry did happen, however the demolition of the ride didnt happen for a looong time after the southport planning, it was sat just off the m6 motorway visible for years, just sat rusting away, then not that long ago it was ripped down, so unfortunately wont ever run again, after how long it had sat rusting i wouldnt imagine it would be runnable again anyways

    One of my all time favourite coasters! I consider myself very lucky to have ridden Knightmare about 5 times in 2011 when the queues were really low (it was actually quite addictive!).
    Definitely one of the best moves Camelot ever made to bring it to the UK, even the shoddy aftermarket welding and the rusted look gave it even more of an edge, personally gave me the feel of “this is proper dodgy, could fall apart” - turns out it was actually the safest ride of the park (and that’s a wholeee ‘nother story!)
    Also that “psycho drop” definitely deserved its name, it’s hard to even explain the insanity of it unless you went on it - absolutely one of the best, and it’s an absolute tragedy to the coaster community that the local council would just scrap it like that .
    Southport shouldn’t have messed about like they did, it was a ready mad legend and they pissed the opportunity away quite frankly.
    Okay rant over, thank you for coming to my TED Talk 😂

    • @Colaholiker
      @Colaholiker Před 2 lety +3

      Nope, it wasn't smooth at all, at least after being relocated to Camelot. I have never been to Japan so I don't know how smooth it was originally. I have ridden both Lisebergbanan (same track) and Jetline (almost a clone), and they do run very smooth, so maybe the roughness was due to relocation and.. well.. Camelot being Camelot. ;-)
      Looking at the track, it is really obvious that Antom Schwarzkopf was involved, as he worked with Zierer after his own company went bankrupt a few years prior.
      The most fasctinating technical aspect on both this one and Jetline is the curved lifthill that uses a chain to pull the train up. Sure, everyone can build a curved tire drive lift, but a curved chain lift? That is rare.

    Great channel. I was in the carnival business for many years and my dad owned a pinfari coaster at adventure land in Illinois. That rides last location was daytona beach Florida as sandblasted. So sad to see it in the condition is was before being dismantled. No idea if it was scraped or being stored for refurbished reasons. Thanks for your great content

    Sooo southport pleasure Island what I found out was they was looking at installing it but the track was too far gone with rust etc and would of cost way to much to sort out and salt it won't be built again southport pleasure Island announced a new zaperla lighting coaster opening next year I think which is a huge ivestment for the park since it reopened in 2007 as when it closed in 2006 most of the rides were removed and it now. Operates with travelling rides coming in n out n being swapped about but this new coaster is a permant fixture and there biggest investment in years !

    No way did you mention Camelot. I live 6/7 miles down road from there. I mean nobody round here mentioned Camelot even when opened. Which is why it closed cos it was crap. We even had the works Xmas do at the hotel there once . I remember knightmare being pretty crap when I last went there as a kid. Also I doubt Southport pleasure land will re open it there as that place is rubbish and just flat rides and arcades. All the coasters from Southport went to Blackpool pleasure beach quite a while ago from memory
