    James saw a Facebook post about some deer stuck out on the ice in the middle of Albert Lea Lake, so he called up his dad and they broke out the hovercraft. It's a father son rescue mission unlike anything you've ever seen.

      They were most likely running at first using momentum to travel, and near the Middle they probably slowed down or stopped ending up on their belly.

      interbeing Deer can walk on ice, but once they slip they can't get back up. The "sister" probably decided to stick by the other on and wait, eventually it got tired and lied down, thus explaining why one is spread out while the other is in a natural resting position.

    Dear often get stuck on frozen lakes, usually when lakes freeze the ice has some texture to it because of wind and the water freezing slowly. If there is no wind and the water freezes very quickly though the ice becomes incredibly slick. Most of the time deer can walk on ice without problem as long as they can keep their feet under them but once they fall it is practically impossible for them to get back up again. In this case the guys did everything correctly to help the deer and the deer probably did not suffer any ill effects from the rescue. It is for sure though that they would have died if they had not gotten off the ice, if they did not freeze first then they would have either starved or died from circulation issues.

      *****
      No. I would rather see a deer survive to be hunted one day. The chances of it surviving a hunting season are greater than it surviving being stuck on the ice. I mean no offense to you, but hunting is very ethical, and there are hunters who like to work to preserve all deer's chances of survival in the off-season of hunting season, which it is not until September. So, these deer will be fine for a while. The reason we work so hard to keep these deer surviving is so that they will be able to reproduce and repopulate, and then, the hunt will be more well-appreciated, and hunters are not sick monsters. We limit ourselves to usually only 1-2 deer a year. We simply hunt for food. Also, the people at GoPro are strong supporters of hunting.

      Uhhh, because they didn't have a "sledge or stretcher of some kind" with them! Duhhhh! They had to use what they had with them, and minimize the risk of injury from a kick from the deer.
      The deer ventured out onto the ice. Once out on the lake they slipped and fell down and could not get back up. The deer's bellies may have been very cold, but they would not have survived for long on that ice. These men SAVED the deers' lives. The deer were not injured at all. Deer are pretty tough animals.

Have you ever seen deer suffer from chronic wasting disease because of malnutrition ? Have you ever given thought to the fact that predator animals can not alone control populations of deer that hunting is regulated for a reason? Have you ever thought past your righteous indignation?

    This is an AD for 'GoPro.
    no way those deer got out onto the middle of the ice - they couldn't move 2 feet on that ice.
    GoPro set this up by capturing 2 deer, then taking them out onto the ice for this AD.
    Tell me how those 2 deer got out into the middle of that frozen lake if i'm wrong . And if they walk out till the fall then cannot rise up, who decided to call 'GoPro' and get a dramatically edited video put together with music ?

    • @HellaKatty
      @HellaKatty Před 10 lety +11

      The deer had been out there for days and were exhausted after struggling on the ice. If GoPro had coordinated this, I think they would have had better equipment at hand than a tiny rope, that could have injured them.

      Deer walk on frozen lakes all the time. It's not difficult for them depending on conditions. If there is some snow on the ice they have no problems, but it can easily blow away or the ice can become more slippery in different areas.

    The Copenhagen Zoo backed by the majority of the Danish community, released a statement about this. They state that these men disrupted the balance of nature and the deer should've been left on the ice to rot. The next time a deer is stuck on the ice, they encourage the local community to bring their children to surround the lake and watch as the deer dies over the proceeding week. If they are lucky, they may witness a coyote mauling it to death. The more blood and gore the children see, the more entertaining and educational it is. They also said to expect more deflecting from the issue at hand by mentioning Americans, wars, human meat consumption and slaughterhouses.

    This is a super sweet video but something to note... deer frighten easily, and when they don't resist, it's because they're literally paralyzed in fear (they can literally die from stress). So, if you see a deer that needs your help, always cover their eyes and minimize handling them if you can!
