In which year was this piece composed?
I was hoping this would be one of the songs where you shred and melt my face off but I still loved it. I love how people are starting to remember how amazing harpsichord is and people are finally starting to use it in modern music; harpsichord is the electric guitar of the classical instruments and people like Bach were the prog rockers. I get why allot of classical music is an acquired taste but I think allot more people would listen to it if there wasn't such a stigma behind it.
Totally, if people weren't conditioned to associate classical music with snobby rich people, it would be more widely accepted. Even as I write this I have to acknowledge that I used to think the same way.
I think a lot of snobby rich people couldn't give a hoot about classical music. It's not a class thing. Maybe it's an education thing and those with more money would send their kids to really good schools that have a music program or maybe they insist that their kids learn how to pay an instrument. Most musicians I know make sure their kids study music. It doesn't seem ever to be a struggle, because kids learn to enjoy it. But first you have to put some time into practicing and study Like with anything, the more you put into something, the more you get out of it. My parents felt that learning music was part of our education, so my sister and I had no choice! And my parents weren't rich! Or snobby!! But they had a European background, so maybe that says something.
I agree completely. To clarify my point, I think classical music is _unfairly_ associated with the rich. That's the sort of stereotype that's constantly reused in movies that reinforce that perception. In my home I was raised to appreciate all music for its own sake, but at a certain point the repetitive stereotypes get planted in your mind and are unavoidable. I would also add that I don't agree with the common idea that wealth=snobbery- or wealth=immorality, but that's another question for another day.

He was one lovely person whom I treasured as a friend. He died a couple of years ago (circa). He was not very old, maybe in his early 60s. He made his living as
a doctor in Arkansas with a focus on glandular problems in children (as I recall).. He loved music and the harpsichord. He wrote a
number of pieces for me and my group, The Queen's Chamber Band. I just googled him, with no luck. His was kind of a common name, and I couldn't find any more info about him. I'll look through my files. If I can find more info, I'll try to reach you.

He would be so happy that you appreciate his music. yes, he was an amazing person and so lovely to spend time with. His wife must really miss him.
