The Biggest POG Collection you've Never Seen......

- Back in the early 90's, the POG phenomenon took hold of the nation... Perhaps an early version of simple memes based on a schoolhouse game from decades before.
My father in law had quite a collection, so I thought I would share. I still have yet to go through many of them. They are a snapshot of a time when we had many technological distractions, video games were just taking off, yet kids sat around slamming milk caps nonetheless!

Thinking back, pogs was the first game to give me the thrill of gambling, we would play for keeps.
That’s an insane amount of pogs. Totally tubular. Brings me back to the early 90’s. Love the style of that Sansui stereo.
Honestly you should try stacking all of these to make a huge structure and use the base as a slammer to create the ultimate game of pogs
I Remember an old friend of mine, when tying to find a girlfriend he lived by a saying, if she doesn’t know what pogs are, she’s too young man. Haha. He’s married now, and she knew what pogs were so I guess his feelings led him to the right person. :-)

I think those task depressions on the slanmmers was for your index and middle fingers to grip on to get a good slam
your most expensive pog might be from the simpsons set, if they made the alf pog mentioned by millhouse when bart sold his soul.
That collection is actually bigger than mine, I am interested in purchasing the sealed product

Thanks for sharing, this is so cool. I was like 12 when these things were popular and I remember going to a little league field every weekend to watch games and they sold pogs at the concession stand. All the parents would be watching their kids play the baseball game while all the little brothers and sisters would be behind the bleachers playing pogs

The weird thing about this video coming from you is that I've just recently gotten into he-man again. He was my favorite toy growing up. I saw a documentary around xmas time and have been watching old episodes and CZcams videos about the toys. Pogs is another blast from my past. Lol

Not my proudest moment but I figured out that you could steal pogs pretty easily from Toys R Us. I had the biggest collection in my school. Slam em like you stole em.
Kids today would not know of this if you show this to them. I remember playing this when I was a kid. Good times!

would you believe the set of 6 Jurassic Park POGS are worth over a million bucks? sounds kind of crazy but that's what they get for them! The Simpsons complete set is over $100. Beautiful stereo by the way, free is a good price!
I did see that...I have to assume the Jurrassic park ones were super rare, but I can't see that price, I don't get it!
I have a few simpsons sets here....but though they have them for sale for $100, it is a long wait to find someone who would pay that!
@@carpo719 I don't get it either bud & guess they are worth whatever someone would pay for them! I'd throw em all in a box and put them up on ebay for a grand just for people with disposable income that also like to take a gamble with what they may find, I made quite a bit last year selling Super Nintendo and Game Boy games this way & was quite shocked at what collectors will pay for old Nintendo merchandise.
@@therealfolkblues5535 In that room where i found the pogs, there are about 8 Nintendo 'hot seat' chairs, which have joysticks that hook onto the side, and they move around so you can be in the game. They are still in the box.... I am not sure if they would be worth anything. They are so rare, that nobody has OR wants them.

@@carpo719 I know what you speak of! These were going for about $150 bucks a piece in 2011, used without the box! The thing is not many people ever held onto their game boxes, just the games. The value goes way up if you have the boxes as it's not considered CIB (complete in box) without it! Now days, with the box, well you got yourself quite the find there my friend! They are Ultra rare, I've only seen them on Ebay a few times and never saw one in real life. Truly amazing. (apologies for all the edits, lol)

@@carpo719 yea I'm sure there's someone out there who'd happily pay you for them. I used to love pogs as a kid an it was really cool bc I grew up in a lower income house hold so it was one of the few things growing up my mom could afford to get me an my older brother an it was nice to finally have something the other kids had that was looked at as cool at that time so it was something i always remembered again mainly bc it something I really enjoyed an my mom could afford. You never know could very possibly be the highlight of someone's year being able to get a collection of that size. Best of luck to you if that s what you decide to do with them. take care.

Lol this doesnt even come close to big pog collections, even i have more. In the Netherlands we have crazy collectors.
I would say that it's definitely up there. I'm guessing an extremely small amount of people would have this many pogs.
Especially in the us. Yall are a few decades behind there. :D

I have some pogs we used in replacement of money in the Iraqi conflict from 2004.
The Soldiers used the at the PX over seas instead of money. They are gaining value as we speak. Pretty cool!

Those Jurassic Park pogs are a joke, that's not a real sale. Nobody would spend that much on them. Any collectible is only worth what people are willing to pay, I have a few sets of The Simpsons ones but one would be lucky to get anyone who wants to buy them.... I have looked them up but it's unlikely one would get that much for them

I remember once i went to my grandmothers brothers house and this little girl had all these pogs, well she offered to give me some, and i guess some got mixed in that she didnt want to part with, anyways it turned into this huge fiasco, my grandmas brother (would that be a great uncle?) called me a little thief and i had to apologize for "stealing" the pogs this stupid girl had given me and return all of them. I was always getting mixed up in some kind of nonsense like that...or telling the nice little christian children the facts of life and they would rat me out to their hyper religious parents or curse in front of their hyper religious parents. Which always left me feeling like the demon child and kindof led to a later in life complete rejection of religion and in fact animosity towards it. Anyways its been a wild ride, i still reject organized religion, always seen through the sham, but have since calmed down on being so vehemently opposed as to create a persona of being a satanist just to mock god and peoples belief systems. Now i respect peoples opinions, but i have my own idea of what god is and just kindof try to avoid the topic with people who are hyper religious because its like "yeah you have your god and i have mine, lets keep it that way because no ammount of bible thumping is going to make me think of you as any less of a mind controlled weasel" so i just try to avoid the topic and as respectfully as possible decline invitations to puff out our chests and see whos god has the bigger proverbial cock. Anyways, end rant, its just funny how something like the cultural phenomena that was pogs can domino into the formula that shapes a person to be who they are. Through psychedellics and personal exploration of many different belief systems ive eventually become much more tolerant of other peoples belief systems....just wish they would keep them to themselves. Everyones personal journey is going to lead them to different conclusions about the nature of our reality and spirituality, and they are not all going to fit into some cookie cutter textbook definition especially as it pertains to "the divine"
