I love this bench, Nigel! It is not a representation of "finished" trees, but the process we go through to get there. I love mames, but equally feel stressed by the effort to keep them watered in my hot and dry summers. Fortunately, I have only just started my collection, and this past summer was relatively wet, so they survived. A JM, an oak and a cedar. the pots are the next challenge . . . Keep dong what you do, as you are the best version of it that I have (never) met!!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but there is a very useful trick for keeping the super tiny mame trees from drying out. You put pea-gravel or small aquarium stones in a tray large enough to hold your mames (fill with the pebbles about a centimeter to two centimeters depending on your pots height). You can top with moss for double duty, but that's all! The roots may grow put the drainage holes but that's fine, just clip then off before showing. This keeps the plants from drying out and keeps them healthy, and it's also a great way to grow your own moss! This has really inspired me to make a little vignette with my own mames! Keep up th he awesome work! ❤

Nigel, what about all the “fines” from your sifted perlite and turface? Why not use that instead of sand? Love the miniature bench! You should research some of the dwarf plant varieties for terrariums (usually found in big box stores just before the greenhouse section of the garden center area) I think you’d find something there!

I do hope so. I think it can be more difficult to work with tiny trees than usual size bonsai trees a steady hand and good eyes needed, good luck with it all Nigel.

Hi Nigel, I think the tiny bench looks phenomenal! However, the boots seem like a weird addition to me. Who'd put/leave a pair of old boots next to their bonsai bench? I at least wouldn't like to step into them after a big rain fall :D as perfectly in scale they are compared to the bench, they lessen the overall picture to me. I just want you to win the show^^

A router is just a networking device that tells the packets where to go on a network. If you have the internet you are using a router.
