    This craft is dyeing now, earthenware is actually the healthiest cookware to make food. We need to evolve to include these pots in our daily life.

    Only 1 person do it...i mean 1 pot will finish by 1 person itself n not by two people for single pot. And we never use any machines for doing it. Grandpa rotate the wheel by using lengthy bamboo stick. I'm also from pottery family. I grow by seeing it from my childhood in my family. I appreciate their hardwork n feel proud for being a pottery family.

      Both have their pros and cons. India has one of the largest populations of enslaved people in the world. img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=img.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/files/2014/11/Screen-Shot-2014-11-18-at-13.35.52.png&w=480 1.1% of 1.252 *billion* people are enslaved. That's almost 14 million people. To put that into perspective around 11 million enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas (North, Central, and South America). There are parts of their culture I find interesting. Such as this village that makes bridges out of tree roots so they are not washed away during monsoon season. www.atlasobscura.com/places/root-bridges-cherrapungee Being closer to the Earth can also mean not having sewer systems too. If you want to connect with the Earth then go out and explore nature. Heck dig up some clay, let it soak for a week in water, run it through a sieve to remove rocks and roots, and dry it on a slab of dry plaster. Viola you have clay ready for pottery. Find some cow patties, and you can fire your clay too. Your culture is you. Make it interesting. You come from a culture that built an amazing country in record time that rivals many much older countries. People from this country have reshaped the world in incredible ways. I might envy India in the fact that the people seem to be more connected to each other, but then again there are cases where women have acid thrown in their faces for refusing a man's affections. Yeah I think you have the whole grass...greener...other side syndrome. The reality of living in India would probably fix that. Perhaps you'd meet someone who practices Tantrism, and they will sacrifice you to Kali. Can't get much closer to the Earth than death. This isn't meant to disparage the Indian culture. I'm just acting as windshield wipers on a foggy window. I just want to give you a clearer picture of India. Which is a great country overall I believe. It just isn't all Bollywood and gurus. It is also ranked as the 61st poorest country in the world out of 185 countries. www.gfmag.com/global-data/economic-data/the-poorest-countries-in-the-world?page=12 I wonder which inescapable caste they would place you in?

    • @sheep1ewe
      @sheep1ewe Před 7 lety +2

      My guess it´s for weight reason, the clay need to be a bit dry to not collapse when one need thinner the walls (possibly their womans carying lighter things on their heads in it, or one need to move them often for other reson) that´s why the are made in 2 steps it hink.

    • @AbsurdlyAwkward
      @AbsurdlyAwkward Před 7 lety +22

      the clay cannot hold the final shape when on the wheel not unless it was thick but that would make it heavy. its done in these steps to be quick and efficient to make more pot with less problems then they bang it out like that when the clay is harder and able to hold the shape better. if the clay were thrown that thin on a potters wheel like theirs it would surely collapse 80% of the time. it seems silly but it works and its so much faster than coil building

    • @sheep1ewe
      @sheep1ewe Před 7 lety +13

      Yes, this method must hewe been tried out for hundreds of Years i guess, so i think they know exactly what they are doing.

    • @StuninRub
      @StuninRub Před 7 lety +1

      Because the person on the wheel isn't skilled enough to bring the pot closer to it's final shape.

    • @asmi227
      @asmi227 Před 7 lety +3

      AbsurdlyAwkward I have done pottery on a modern day wheel and I can say that even on them you can't make this thin pots, they will definitely collapse.
