I really like your analysis. When I heard the lyrics, I got big toxic relationship vibes, but then the video has them pitted against each other and themselves, which is super interesting!
Yeah if I were to just read the lyrics, it totally screams of a toxic relationship, (parts of it, at least) but then the video flips that concept upside down hehe.

@@aliciapark6241 yeah, when I saw the Naver article saying it was about a relationship, I was like...nah, that seems unlikely. It might be masked that way, but they just don't really make songs like that. Haha They definitely made a double entendre here (like usual). You could apply this to a relationship, but the video just takes it to a new level. So good!

@@stardustnite20 I think they are basically talking about their struggle with fame and the dangerous high that they get from the overwhelming love that they receive. They are required to do a lot of "cute" stuff that we all know that they do not enjoy doing, maybe that's why they feel trapped.

I'm so sorry about your dog... I do hope it turns out for the best. I had four cats and a rabbit in the past. I know how hard it is to face their health problems.
On a lighter note: Stray Kids dropped this on us without warning and I love it. Stray Kids are one of my ult groups (if not the top ult) so it's never too much of them for me đ
This was a great analysis. We can observe how much SKZ is struggling with fame and the pressure + addiction that they feel by the overwhelming love that they receive. Hyunjin shooting love bullets? Man... Also the scene where Lee Know observes all the other members numb with poison; as per my observation Lee Know is the only one that still keeps his composure somehow, he is less swayed by fame, is trying his best not to believe all the great things that we Stays say that he is. He is probably afraid that it will all be taken away one day, as he came so close to that in the beginning of their career. I hope they themselves find healing in their music. Also, praying for your dog! Hope s/he recovers soon!

I really like you can explain their lyrics so details. Stray Kids they are not only make incredible music and MV they also meaning a lot by their lyrics every time.
I just thought of this but, the red treads could also symbolize fate, like the red string of fate. They could be saying that they try to be themselves and fight back, but fate also predicted this, so no matter what they do they are caught.

Ohhh Stray Kids just appeared on Weekly Idol and Bang Chang explained how they created the lyrics and such. You should check that out. Its also a fun variety show. I am looking forward to some Variety shows they appear these days so I can know what they actually say themselves about it.
According the Chang Bin, he said in the show, "The birds in Maniac explains the birds you see when you go crazy. Like your mind goes crazy and you see stars and birds. The pause and the sound of the bird refers to that." Its also like how someone usually says your crazy using the hand gesture too. And according to Bang Chan, "When we are creating lyrics, we like to make puns and use them. đ We like playing around with words."
Btw, Stray Kids create produce their own music. The lyrics are written by all the members and the music is produced by Bang Chang. Its obvious by Bang Chang plays the drum pad in the ODDINARY trailer when Felix enters the store.

Building on your thoughts of the toxicity of self and others in the music video they also start engaging to dangerous activities towards each other, the bow and arrow, the swords in the box, the boxing, hitting a grenade with a bat etc. the toxicity never affects just them. It becomes dangerous to everyone around them.

I watched many times this MV but it was only while listening to your comments that I realized something. I think the spiderweb represents the internet (the web) and even more precisely social media, their toxicity and the fact that people poisoned themself and the others. Seugmin sings that he has numb fingers like when we spend literally hours on our phone but also as a way to say about it numbs the mind, changbin and this photo with felix, the different weapons like the haters comments... It's very connected with Maniac song.

If heaven trully exists and if dogs goes there (something that I believe cause they're much better than humans and deserves so much more than us) I'm pretty sure my little dog, who passed away 7 years ago, is praying for yours dog recovery, and so do I. Don't worry, everything will be fine. We don't think a lot about this but they're so much stronger than we think. Lots of love for you and your dog!

Possibly interesting factoid: A red string is used, and in some cultures that can represent the Red String of Fate that ties two people who are destined for each other together. So being trapped by a red string might mean that you're stuck with this person regardless of whether you want to be or not. I've seen this in Korean shows and books so maybe that is intentional here.

i think in the end where Han finishes his rap with ''i'm already...'' and then chorus comes in ''spiderweb'' it feels like he become the spiderweb that holds him down like the one who keeps me is me. im already the spiderweb or i become one
Yeah exactly, in the first verse it says that he went there knowing he'd get trapped, so he/they were already "gone" from the beginning, and the broken mirror scene also suggests that it's me against myself. Plus obviously the ending with Felix, damn this was such a great video!
I wonder if it links in with red lights, mood which is getting caught in your own mind and was linked to toxic relationships on a visual level, but words and lyrics behind link deeper to your own mind and habits etc đ

I really love your analysis! It also refers to Spiderman. (This is my theory đ ) Watching MANIAC for 10 times (yeah, i wanted grasp everything i missed đ đ) In MANIAC, the beginning the upside down worlds is like from Avengers were Dr. Strange explains to Spiderman about the two worlds. In this, when you watch the members in that boxing ring, they are each wearing masks. The old different suites of Spiderman. The first suites that were made. That's what I noticed from flickering lights scene transitions. I had to pause to see each scene to see what they were wearing. I think Han was wearing the red old spiderman mask and someone else was wearing the venom like mask. I think it was in spiderman 2 where there was an evil spiderman, the black one. So like you said, its them fighting over their dark sides too. (This is just my theory đ )

Idk how many times I replayed 7:50 "pudding!" I need this as my new text alert. Great analysis as always. You always bring such a unique perspective to the lyrics. I'm curious at what you think of Lee Know's "characters" with the new music videos. He has key moments in each new MV. He's the only one not "dead" in Venom, we enter his head and he's holding the drill in Maniac... and then the ending of Lonely St.
They have so many songs that could be analyzed and I'm pretty sure, we'd watch them all.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, hopefully it turns out to be nothing! I want to say though, if it's the absolute worst case scenario and a leg has to go if they can't operate it, dogs have just as good quality of life on 3 legs as 4 legs! They're super mobile and can bounce around, run & walk just fine, you don't even really notice they're missing a leg once they've become used to it. A neighbor of mine ended up putting her cat to sleep because she thought 3 legs would mean it couldn't move well, she didn't know they're also completely fine with 3 :( So I just wanted to let you know †It's quite a common thing within rescue sadly...

I read a theory that the reason why the members were like fighting or against each other [ changbin tying the members in the chair, felix controlling a robot spider that was chasing the members and lee know poisoning them etc.] Was because they were fighting over who gets to control the body or something like that.

Venom fits the Oddinary album like a tee. I agree about the duality in us - one half part of us is toxic but it is who we are. Part of the song is telling us in a way, to accept this toxicity to some level coz we just cannot help it. It is a constant fight. Just like how it is depicted in this MV. That is my interpretations.

Wow. I love watching these types of videos. This is the second analysis that makes me see the layers to Skzâs music. Anyway my initial theory was took more of a fictional turn. Like what if the sound monster(from thunderous) had âwonâ and Skz was slowly but surely become the people portrayed in Maniac. This analysis makes waay more sense!!đđ When I heard this song at first I got a sense of hopeless, madness, and drunk on âmadnessâ and danger. This analysis made it clearer what the video is trying to portray. So thank you!

This venom lyrics actually can relate to anyone, not only based on 'toxic relationship'. For example the harley itself, cruella, or maybe idol kpop themselves. That's why there's a quote 'bad people are good people who get hurt' (although I'm not agree, bcs many good ppl can overcome their fear. But ofc everyone's mentality is different). And most of the time, the bad ppl are born bcs of the cruel society. They know they can escape, but they choose not to.
