  • My first ever CZcams video was Diesel Days from last year, and that wasn't uploaded to my new channel until very late October. Railroadfan5383 was my first of my well cherished 166 subscribers. I haven't been on here a year yet, and I can't believe how popular my channel really has gotten. Anyway, this video is a celebration of history, brought to you via the diesel train.
This Diesel Days at the Illinois Railway Museum on 7/18/15. There was a huge storm right in the middle of the parade, so many people left. But I stayed to film what so many of us have waiting a year for. The parade is a little short, but there was a bunch of other awesome action.
Later in the video, there is a carbide in CBQ #504. 504 means a lot to me, and I was very happy to have had a carbide.
Thanks to my best friend, Dimitri, for his help with filming. Also, thanks to Railroadfan5383, Conrail101, BNKATO, and SamLovesTrains for hanging with me, and a special thanks to Metra163 getting us the carbide!!!!
If You enjoyed this video, "like" it, comment me, and please subscribe!!!

Ya it's really a great day. The Illinois Railway Museum has a website and all of the events are on there. Diesel Days is the best. The dates are all on the site, so see what you can do!

I was in Burlington 504 during the Diesel Parade. I was in the cab for alittle over 3 hours and rode the storm out in there. Looks like you got your carbide right after I got mine. Great video

What kind of prime mover is in the cb&q 504 sounds like it's an sd40-2 on an SD24 frame

I believe the SD24 used a variation of the old V16-567 with a turbo on it. SD40/SD40-2 used a V16-645 with turbo. Both prime movers sound similar, but I have noticed that 567's have a slightly higher idle speed than the 645's.

      The SD24 used a 16 567d3 engine at 2400 hp

Really hate that they painted the Sd24 to CBGQ. Should have kept it BN GREEN!

Do you just ask to get a carbide in the diesels during diesel days?

Sometimes you kinda need to know the engineers a little bit but most are pretty cool about it as long as your nice.
