Friends of mine in college were watching this, and wondering, "WTF is going on here?" Some just did not get British humor. "They're the fucking Social Democrats!" -- That line always gets me! Wonderful stuff!
Well, I mean, they've got a point, haven't they? Paying the least amount possible and still expecting to hear and see all the jokes, skits, sketches, and the like? It's pretty darn cheap-minded of them, if you're asking me! But what really gets me is those damnable toffs in the front rows! Writing it all off on their taxes, feeling good about their so-called "charitable contributions", and then going and bothering their "friends" in the Commons for more tax breaks to offset their supposed largesse?!? It's enough to make a grown man puke! YOU HEAR THAT, YOU SMARMY LITTLE GITS?!?!?!? YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A BIT OF DOGS-VOMIT ON THE SOLES OF THE SHOES OF SOCIETY, YOU SWANK BASTARDS!!!! LISTEN, MATE! STRANGE WOMEN LYING IN PONDS DISTRIBUTING SWORDS IS NO BASIS FOR A SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT!!! ⚔
I've a feeling this was on a different night to the version that is on the album. The concerts were held over four nights and they will have done this opening sketch several times over. Atkinson's contribution clearly evolved each time they did it and they used the best one for release.
What an all-star lineup. You have John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Rowan Atkinson, Tim-Brooke Taylor, Neil Innes AND Alan Bennett all on the same stage!
David Rappaport next to Cleese there. Another comedy legend.

Alan's refined interjection is just superb!

Love it....I lived in the UK from the 80's to 2001. Classic!
But...y'know...they *do* have a point about the Social Democrats! I mean, I'm just saying... 😁
Good Evening: The actors booing the audience before the show even begins--something only the Pythons could have imagined...

Chris Langham ...oh dear
Much better than that Chinese secret police station in NYC lmfao
So you lot have one too.
I wanted to give upmarks for every tier of seating they rubbished.
Actually quite a bit of this is cut when compared to the audio recording.

Nothing wrong with Chris Langham being in it. Improves it.
