Angelheart is one of my all time favourite films. The perfect merging of noir detective with horror, magnificent atmosphere, tone, great acting. Really Rourke’s best work. An absolute classic that never gets old.
80's Mickey Rouke was untouchable ... arguably one of the greatest actors of his generation. His acting in Barfly is absolutely sublime ... All three films he speak about are top notch ... btw, Angel Heart is like a bad trip. A cerebral mind fuck that will haunt you for weeks on end!
I love the moments when Mickey Rourke removes his sunglasses. Darren Aronofsky once said he was particularly proud of the fact that Mickey never once wore sunglasses in The Wrestler. According to Aronofsky,, hiding behind sunglasses is Rourke’s defense mechanism. While I sympathize with Mickey’s need for that protection, & have noticed in interviews, that when asked an uncomfortable question, he puts the sunglasses back on, it really is nice to see Mickey’s entire face, including his eyes. Like so many others, I am attracted to all of him, not just to his physical appearance. On the other hand, what a beautiful man he has always been. Someone should make a movie about the life of Mickey Rourke. There would be ample material. The primary challenge would be finding another actor to portray him in a compelling manner. No one has ever been as good looking as Rourke was during the ‘80s and it would be difficult to replicate his screen presence from any era.
I believe that Chihuahua kept Rourke alive and touched his heart. So, to Rourke's eyes, that Chihuahua is the only thing he cares about. I believe her name is Loki. I can understand how Rourke feel about his Chihuahuas. Because I had two Chihuahuas that I love dearly.
He suffers from a troubled mind, my absolute hero when it comes to acting. Yes, he deserves an Oscar. Angel Heart should get a remake (I know it's perfect) with Mickey playin' Cypher.
I don't recall that...but then it's been probably 20 years since I've seen it. One scene that stuck with me was Daryl Hannah slapping Mickey several times and screaming at him as he calmly left her apartment. p.s. interesting that you and Ann have nearly identical last names 🙃
Great actor. If I recall White Sands was his last film before his hiatus, boxing, and return to acting. I’m pretty sure that he and De Niro actually hate each others guts!
Eric Roberts most definitely pissed off the wrong people. He would be an astonishing Bond villain, and would definitely rescue him from the depths of Asylum movies.
@@chiefscheider that's a shame. He went through a lot of his classic stuff and directors like Cimino and Lynne. I laughed so much about his experiences with Buscemi on Animal Factory. Hahaha!!!

Read the book. Called Falling Angel by William Hjortsberg. Noir fiction at it's best.
@@lawsoncabell saying hiding behind sunglasses is just an excuse to wear shades at night and in doors and look cool. 😎
Met Mickey Rourke when I was working in a bar as a barback. He had a genuinely good vibe and treated me with respect. Good guy.
He does seem like the real deal. Loved it when he called out Robert De Niro once: "Listen, Mr. Tough Guy in the movies..." 😁
Mickey route barebacked you in a bar Wtf?

That little look at the end....
Still the same young Mickey 💗
I saw it last month and it was pretty darn good. Mickey in his prime
This interview is what introduced me to Bukowski and I've never looked back.

I still remember watching this movie for the first time. Was absolutely blown away and the twist at the end had me shuk.
Back in the day, I would watch anything that Mickey Rourke was in. I think Eric Roberts is a better actor than his sister.
Roy Scheider as Buddy , my fav cop ever , in The 7-Ups' ..Wipes off the broken glass & is ready to go again ! rip
Angelheart is a great movie!
It is, but it's called Angel Heart. Seeing it as one word looks soooo wrong 😄
I like Angeheart because it shows Coney Island and New Orleans. Two different worlds but connected. great movie
Mickey doesn’t pull any punches… Savage responses from him, beautiful
Mickey Rourke actor legendary 🎬
One of his finest movies!!
Eric roberts was a gem in Pope of Greenwich Village. Superb acting

Eric Roberts is a wonderful character actor for real. Wonderful range.
And of course his sister is Julia Roberts
But he’s a wife beater

I respect his honesty, but it's so disheartening to hear that he really didn't care about the film and apparently still doesn't.
I feel the same way, because Angel Heart is a great movie and Rourke is absolutely riveting in it!

Lol Mickey Rourke is exactly like his character in Once Upon A Time In Mexico lmao
Barfly might just be the best movie ever captured on film.
