  • One of the highlights of our Italy trip for Peter especially was visiting Rome and its ancient sites like the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Being a classical history fan, it was the perfect day out visiting these must-see attractions.
    The Colosseum express tour we went on with access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill:

    So mind-blowing 🤯. The majesty and beauty of Rome is spectacular even if built on the blood of thousands, if not millions.

      It was such a privilege to be able to finally visit Rome and see all the classical glory of the Colloseum and the Forum. It's still in very good condition considering the age too. But yes empires those days certainly had appalling work conditions 😅

    Yay for spotted bug!!!! Romulus and Remus… haven’t heard those two names in decades… stoked you got to finally see Rome… must have been surreal… have to say, though amazing to see Rome, this might be the saddest vid in your Italy series because….no food 😭😭😭😭😭 Speaking of gladiators, Oliveira fight 🥊? Thanks for a very cool video… was fun to see history lessons from high school come alive… such a bloody episode…sand to soak up blood, 23 stabbings, brother killing brother 😵😵😵😵 Them Romans…😁 Safe travel guys!!

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  Před rokem

      Hahaha yes them Roman's indeed! All the classical empires were built on similarly violent histories.
      It's cool to think that Olivera and other fighters are basically modern day gladiators. After so many years humans haven't changed all that much 😅

    Wow what stunning views in the opening clips, love it how you do that! Yeah I bet those tickets would sell out so fast! Wow just amazing structures there! Yeah the audio guide would be SO helpful, always wondered about the floor and maybe how they filled that with water. Yeah that floor would be crazy! Even the surrounding buildings looks great the residential area it looked like! What an amazing view there and wow just imagine all that history in one view! Wow that would be crazy amount of people in that final arena you went to! Imagine the atmosphere! Once again another great job on this!

    Looks like you'd an awesome day, especially Peter, getting his history geek fix 😉
    The Colosseum looks so impressive and amazingly well preserved given its age and all the earthquakes. I was surprised by the number of other ruins that are still accessible too.
    Did you get a chance to visit the Pantheon?
    I'd love to see that from both a historical and engineering perspective.
    Oh, and I can't believe you did a vlog with no food in it 😂

    I'm going to Rome in a few months. Will it be too tiring to do Vatican Museum in the morning and Colosseum, Palatine hill and Roman Forum in the afternoon same day? Thank you for you videos!

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  Před 8 měsíci

      Hiya 👋 Guess it depends how long you like to look through museums as the Vatican you could easily spend many hours there. Might be a bit crammed for a day to do that as well as the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum so if you can we would suggest to split out the Vatican for its own day 🙂 Hope you have a great time!

    Thank you for al the history of this place. It was fascinating to know. I was curious about this place. Hopefully, I get to see it one day. Strange this place does not have food with the amount of people visit, they'll make a killing on food. It's one rare ep of you guys without food lol. Have you guys watched the movie When in Rome? Its a shane that they charge a kot of money to visit ruins that are outside in this city, in most other places in the world this qould be free. We went to the coliseum with out ticket and found out they wanted extra money to go to the bottom floor. Whre ever we did go it was at a snails pace as there were so many crowds. This year they have decided to start charging ti go into the Pantheon unkess you are an Italian which is pretty awful too.
