You've become my favorite wargame reviewer. I've just gotten my hands on this and can't wait to get it on the table. And I'm not even that much into Napoleonic warfare. Many thanks!
I second your love for this game and would recommend it to all wargamers, even those who do not play solitaire games as a rule...what impressed me the most is how intuitive the AI is...you almost feel as if you are playing a human opponent...when on the strategic map there might be an occasional flukey move, I attribute it to poor communications among the armies, but this is a rare occurrence anyway.....excellent review and you definitely will make some converts...
Thank you, JPF:) Glad you enjoyed! Oh yeah...rarely, a small enemy force would occasionally march into an envelopment, more often it seemed like the AI was reading my mind. A brilliant design for sure.
+Jim Smith Thanks Jim :) I usually use counter trays from GMT or DVG. The baggies are just more convenient for this one, since each year has a different set of counters.
The baggies are a great idea... much cheaper than the Plano Box, but, as a "completest" I've always trusted the plastic boxes... no spills... those little mistakes are tragic!!! As always your reviews are ALWAYS on the money. Just received "B-17" 15th Airfare, and some Italian fighters as well... soooooo cool to have everything for B-17. IF you haven't checked them out... take a look at "2xsindustries.com", they have tons of variants for older AH games from the 1970's onward... Been working some new kinks for AH's D-Day to even things up... but after I've played the game out... I'll let you know... Keep up the good work
+Richard Barber OUTSTANDING! That's great news Rick :) There's a separate "nuts & bolts" video I did for this game as well that walks through a complete turn.
Just watched that one as well! Great game, but will have a lot to do to scale things down to the ACW, where most campaigns were only a few short weeks long. Maps will likely be much smaller scale, and I'm hoping that some will be mateable, as multiple campaigns were fought over variants of the same area.

Love the review! Yeah, the snack bags are a great idea... IF you can , go with Plano plastic boxes, but that fattens up the box pretty good. You GO!!

Had to watch this, as I'm now working on 'Field Commander : RE Lee' with Dan Veersen.

Field Commander R.E.Lee? O_o - Instabuy! Perhaps F.Comm. Grant in the future or Ramesses II?
Thank you! Isn’t it too expensive (99$) for whats in the box? I mean no plastic or wood components....
I make video games, but board games are too complex for me to make.

Then just play them :)
