  • It seems like the Titanic story is well-known, and nothing can be surprising about it, but new details about that terrible shipwreck still resurface. It turns out that this iceberg most likely formed out of snow that fell 100,000 years ago. These days, it's possible to calculate the routes of such icebergs in any given year in the past. So, the infamous chunk of ice was on its way from Greenland to an area further south of Cornwall. If the ship had passed through that region only two days later, the iceberg would have moved far away from the point where they met.

It would've simply hit another one I think. The area they sailed through was Iceberg Alley, which was filled with icebergs. It took the Carpathia 3 days to steer through this area and arrive at New York. Driving at full force was irresponsible and made the Titanic's crew unable to react quickly enough upon spotting the iceberg. I imagine the likelihood that they hit another iceberg if this one hadn't been there was quite high.

There was a coal fire before departure. Coal fires are very hard to put out. So as they sailed they tried putting it out by putting the coal in the engine more frequently and quantity. Which picked up speed. And the fire was in the first 5 compartments....where the iceberg hit. It was already damaged so the integrity wasn't 100 before they even set off.

You forget to mention another human mistake: the ruder of morden ships work like this: if you go to port the ship will go starboard, while in old vessels it was not the case; so when the ship found the iceberg it was on the stem starboard so the ship should move to port to avoid coalition (moving the ruder to starboard), the man who took the ruder had experience only on old vessels so it is probably that he moved the ruder to port moving the ship to starboard and so closer to the iceberg.

I mean poor Fleet who was the look out on the night, he had a moonless night and calm waters... the worse combination to have. No one is seeing it in time, especially without binoculars due to the last person to have the key leaving the ship last minute due to lack of experience with such a large vessel and the fact it was the maiden voyage. They deemed it too much pressure for him and thus the first butterfly effect kicked into motion of a long list of errors/failures.

They were passing through an ice field, which is a reality of the ocean. It’s really not that short of odds that that hit an iceberg in that time period without better technology to see ahead in the dark.

These Titanic videos are so interesting, I haven't see Titanic movie so I Have Been learned much about Titanic's disaster in your videos. Btw did you know there's theory Titanic was a Britannic, Titanic's sister and real Titanic IS Titanic 2.0. I've heared many interesting stories about Titanic, like Black box where might Be Holy Grail. People survive stories are AMAZING too from Titanic But rest in peace all people WHO couldn't save Titanic disaster... 🌊🚢🏔️

Britannic was only laid down in November, 1911. Perhaps you are thinking of the nonsensical claim, dating from the mid 1990s, that Titanic was Olympic, and vice versa. Fascinating, but with not a single shred of credible evidence.

    • @ryanfreebody6881
