    Im so glad you guys finally saw this part. This is one of the most emotional parts of God of War, not just Ragnarok but the entire series. The character development with Kratos and Atreus here was amazing, Kratos actually apologized, Kratos...the same mf that killed a pantheon. Atreus hitting Kratos with his own line "Dont be sorry father, be better." and Kratos smiling at that, that scene alone made me cry. Kratos admitting that he is always angry and keeping Atreus on a close leash is because he wasnt ready for Atreus to grow up so fast already, he still wanted his "boy". It only gets better from here and i wish these episodes came sooner because im so excited to see your reaction on how this all plays out by the end.

    Another brilliant re-working of "traditional" Norse mythology by the writers of this game. In those stories, Loki is the father of both Fenris/ Fenrir AND Jormungandr- in the game, this gets translated to Atreus\ Loki putting souls into the serpent and Garm.

    1:58 "Aren't you gonna, you know....reprimand me? Kratos: No." My sister: Yes, got me worried about you, boy have lost your mind?! Closing those "Realm Tears" was what i needed to fully upgrade the Axe, the Blades, and the spear before "Ragnarök" started, and it was nice hearing atreus talk about people he met that are his age.
    10:46 - 11:40 Attempt 1: Dad freeze his chain latch it on to something so he can run. FAILED
    11:49 Kratos: Boy, did odin teach you how to control your transformation, cause we're not relying on what Odin taught you next time were doing this my way.
    12:35- 16:38 Attempt 2: The "Kratos" way Sucess/Falied That whole boss fight was crazy and out of the "MAIN" boss battles Garm's the only one that made me do this twice all the other's were first attempt. 19:45 Garm: I'm back and ready for round 2!
    "What else did you learn? We work better when we trust each other." If i was there with them i would've slugged both of them and gave them a piece of my mind and told them straight up to that " This not the time to bicker like children so get your heads out your asses all this is happening because the both you lost faith in each other so stone the fuck up and work together, deal with the other other shit later."
    21:06: Round 2 FIGHT! 22:07-26:47 Thrid Attempt: Change it's nature, "SUCESS!" When Atreus put Fenrir's soul into Garm i was shocked and amazed plus seeing Fenrir super-sized i had a revelation i was like "Oh my god Kratos is already a granddad and Atreus is alreadya dad" because Atreus is called "Loki" to the other giants in Jotunheim and his sons are a giant Wolf and snake who are Jörmungandr and Fenrir.
    Here at 29:11 I was like "Now sit down and "TALK" like people no arguing or yelling. This whole conversation almost brought a tear to my eye even Kratos and atreus admitting their own flaws and Kratos apologizing to atreus makes it clear when Freya said Kratos will never change, this scene, THIS SCENE RIGHT HERE, proves that he can change. It was hard to notice because of his full-grown beard but he smiled.

    It's funny because if you read Norse mythology the reason why Loki said he worked better with chaos is because Loki is the God of chaos. Also another cool easter egg they put is Loki and Angrboda have 3 kids together, and for some reason Loki gave birth to one lol, but anyways 2 out of 3 of the kids are in the game. One is fenrir but not his small version the big version you see now and the giant bird in helheim is also another of their kids

    This is the first time even after beating the game twice, that I think Odin knew they would release. He wanted all the other realms to be attacked, in hopes to weaken them against a possible attack on Asgard. Of course his only reason is to retrieve the mask, but I feel lik Odin in this Game is the top of God that doesn’t allow people under him to have an ability he can’t have. I think he has the same ability to view people’s intentions like Hiemdal and he could see that Atreus would release Garm.

  • @dylanhopkins5934
    @dylanhopkins5934 Před 8 měsíci +2

    This was a great section in the game, and it only gets better! Garm was a really fun fight and I enjoyed the bonding moments with Kratos and Atreus. I do have quite a few thoughts on this section though about trust. While its true that they both needed to learn things from each other, I don't think trust was really one of them. Or at least not as much as the game paints it to be. I would argue that Kratos has, for the most part, been very trusting towards his son. I'd also argue that Atreus has actually been kinda unfair to expect Kratos to trust him.
    We've seen on a few occasions now that Kratos trusts his son. He decided to do so when he let his son lead him to Tyr, he decided to do so for a while after finding Tyr, and he even decided to do so before they fought and tried to kill Garm in this episode. The only times you can kinda say he stopped trusting him is when Atreus leads them into something Kratos finds to be untrustworthy or unsafe. When they saw the mural in Alfheim with Tyr, Atreus was all to willing to jump into conclusions about what the prophecy meant and what part they had to play in it. Kratos knowing how Atreus is and seeing that he was rushing headlong into a prophecy he doesn't actually know to be true, decides to step in and call it off (afterall the prophecy didn't actually specifically say that either of them had a part to play in it, which Kratos pointed out. Atreus just assumed that). This is what eventually lead into Kratos's blow up at the table the first time because he knew more prophecy talk would go to his head. Then in this fight with Garm, Atreus tries a half baked plan to tame an animal he knows nothing about and ends up almost getting the two of them killed (well maybe not Kratos considering how powerful he is but you get the point). Thats again when Kratos decides to step in and do things his way.
    The reason I say Atreus is a lil unfair to expect Kratos to just trust him is because he has a history of leading them into bad or untrustworthy situations. I already mentioned a couple of those situations above. He also led himself, Thrud, and all of the 9 realms into a bad situation by deciding to let Garm free without thinking about why he was chained up in Hel in the first place. Also Kratos had no way of knowing that Atreus had a soul in his knife that he could put inside Garm's body. Hell, Atreus didn't even know that until Angrboda told him. It was pure luck and coincidence that Atreus would have the ONE thing that could stop Garm for good. Any other scenario and Kratos's plan would have been right. Add on top of that the fact that Atreus has been sneaking out on Kratos for the last couple years, lies about it, then when Kratos questions him he chooses to keep it secret. Of course we as the viewers know that him keeping his visit to Jotunheim a secret is a good thing, but from Atreus's perspective, he can't just expect Kratos to have trust in him when he's been disappearing for days and lying to him. The only secrets Kratos ever kept from him was about his past life, and that he was a God. Atreus isn't entitled to know everything about his past life, but he shoulda definitely been told he was a God. And we all know it wasn't a good thing for Kratos to keep that a secret, (seeing as Atreus almost died in the last game because of it) but Atreus is painting it like it was ok to do that so he can do it too, which isn't true.
    I think the real thing Kratos took from this part was learning to open up more. Kratos's journey has been one about finding his humanity, and learning to actually connect and bond with others rather than choosing to remain in his own shell of pain and grief. His journey has also been about learning to raise a child. Specifically a child who's reaching adulthood seeing as he never had one (that he knows about 👀) to reach Atreus's age. If you put into perspective the timeframe of it all, Kratos is likely hundreds if not thousands of years old, so Atreus is still relatively a new part of his life. And within Atreus's own life span, Kratos has only really started to bond with Atreus for maybe about 3 or 4 years. Now Atreus is already at that age where he wants to go out and start doing things on his own without his father. And reasonably, Kratos isn't quite ready for his son to grow up so fast when they seemingly just started getting close as father and son. Thats why he's so protective of him and why he admits at the end of this part that he was not the one that was ready.
