  • Before Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown can release, I had to sin the other free game offered for pre-ordering it! After all, we've gotta find MATILDAAAAAAA
As with all my other videos, there were many sins that I either cut while recording, cut while editing, or just missed entirely. Please remember, this is a video meant for entertainment and comedy, not an actual game review!
I'll see you all in the skies of Ace Combat 7! And yes, of course I'll be sinning that game as well. Who do you take me for?

Today, Tomcat171 announced his departure from the community and the removal of all Tomcat171-related profiles, including his CZcams channel. He will be very missed, and the logo that used to show up in the ending card of this video will forever represent the hole he left behind in our niche fandom. It was an honor to work with him on making this video and doing other collabs together, including him joining the charity livestream on my channel. Thank you for everything, Tomcat, may you always fly high!

You're forgetting that the pressure is ridiculously high. I mean the literal air pressure. For Selumna Peaks at 14:14, it says that the pressure is 36 inches of mercury. Then with San Loma Assault at 17:43, it's 49.4inHg. Moloch Desert (23:18) comes in a 53.3inHg (i.e. more than 75% standard pressure at sea level). Weapons of Mass Destruction (25:48) has 49.6in, the Liberation of Gracemeria (29:42) features a pressure of 53.3inHg again, Gracemeria Patrol (32:03) has 53.1, and finally, Chandelier (35:36) gives us 52.7.
If we do the math, that gives us an average atmospheric pressure of 49.6 inches of mercury. That's more than 65% the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level.

Might explain why Emmeria has such a seeminly temperate climate despite being so high in latitude. It always bothered me how Usea has basically Arctic conditions at it's northern areas even though it's northern areas don't reach up so high. Could be related to ocean currents or just the mistake of how Usea was placed into Strangereal when Namco started to fully develop AC4.

@@user-uq3im5eq4q That's actually far less unreasonable than you might expect. The GAU-8 used by the A-10 fires both HE incendiary and AP rounds, and the AP rounds are solid depleted-uranium slugs. There's no explosive filler in them, so unless rounds hit the car's fuel tank there's no reason for it to explode. The sheer kinetic energy behind DU rounds would certainly disable the car even if the engine wasn't directly hit, maybe even rip the body off the frame, but there wouldn't be an explosion. Now, why a Warthog on occupation patrol wouldn't be using high explosive, which is much more effective against insurgents as they don't have access to armor, is another story.

Executive: So you have an Ace Combat sequel for me?
Writer: Yes sir, I do, I was thinking of having the title be Fires of Liberation
Executive: Sounds pretty liberating, what's it about?
Writer: Well first off we're going to look at a house instead of an airport.
Executive: Why a house? The last two Ace Combat games didn't show one.
Writer: Because I want this to be as confusing as possible.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: So then we meet Melissa Herman who's supposed to be helping her daughter Matilda but is too attached to her book so she doesn't.
Executive: Wow, getting attached to a book so that you don't have to help your child get ready for school is TIGHT.
    Writer: It really is.
    Executive: So then what?
Writer: Well shortly after Matilda goes to school, Melissa starts talking to us about the city and Gracemeria Bridge which is the Pride of Gracemeria and then after that she starts talking about the castle which is where Matilda is going on a field trip and is also more famous than the bridge.
Executive: If the castle is more famous than the bridge, how come the bridge is the Pride of Gracemeria?
    Writer: I don't know.
    Executive: Fair enough.
Writer: So then the Estovakians attack and the Emmerians have to give up Gracemeria.
    Executive: How so?
Writer: Well because the Estovakians brought along the Aigaion which was just as big as Hresvelger in the 0th game.
Executive: If that's the case then how come Emmeria's satellites didn't detect it?
    Writer: Unclear.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: So then later on we meet Voychek.
    Executive: What's his deal?
Writer: Well he's a lonely guy with a cane and was shot down by Talisman.
Executive: During the time when we play as Talisman?
    Writer: Yes.
Executive: Then what if we don't shoot him down, what happens then?
Writer: Okay I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back on that one.
Executive: Oh okay, I'll get off of that back.
    Writer: Thank you.
    Executive: So then what happens?
Writer: Well as Talisman and Shamrock are busy liberating the country, Melissa decides to go back to go back to Gracemeria to get her daughter that was left there.
Executive: Well that's gonna be difficult being that Khesed Island is on the far other end of Gracemeria.
Writer: Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
    Executive: Oh really?
Writer: Yeah see, as she starts to give up, she meets Ludmila who just so happens to have a car.
    Executive: Wow wow wow.
    Writer: Wow.
    Executive: So what's Ludmila doing?
Writer: She's also going to Gracemeria because her boyfriend is there.
    Executive: Coincidence?
    Writer: I think not.
    Executive: So then what?
Writer: So then we get introduced a tank crew consisting of the gunner who doesn't say anything, the captain who speaks a lot, and the driver who also talks and used to rob banks.
Executive: Wait if the driver was a criminal, how is he in the military?
    Writer: I don't know.
    Executive: Fair enough.
Writer: So then they start liberating some more until they get to Selumna Peaks.
Executive: Why do they stop liberating there?
Writer: Well because Aigaion attacks them.
    Executive: Uh oh.
Writer: Yeah so then they decide to take out the Aigaion.
Executive: Well if the Aigaion has Nimbus Missiles and Strigion Team then it's gonna be pretty difficult to take it out.
Writer: Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
    Executive: Oh really?
Writer: Yeah see, they'll just borrow Galm 1's strategy.
Executive: Destroy the AA guns, engines, and control bridge?
    Writer: Yep, five times.
Executive: Awsome, I love it, what about the Strigion Team?
Writer: Well they're all gonna go out like Espada Team did.
Executive: Good we must've gotten rid of them now.
Writer: Oh no, they return again.
    Executive: For the fourth time?
    Writer: For the fourth time.
Executive: Having to fight the same aces over and over is TIGHT.
Writer: It really is, especially if it gets you suspended.
Executive: Oh Talisman and Shamrock get in trouble for it?
Writer: Yeah because I made it so that you wouldn't be able to follow your orders even if you wanted to.
    Executive: Wow wow wow.
Writer: So then they realize that Talisman and Shamrock are needed after twenty-four hours of suspension because they need them to destroy the WMD which is currently being transported to Gracemeria.
Executive: Why couldn't we get another squadron like Windhover or Avalanche to destroy the WMD?
Writer: Because I want to give players a trench mission because you can't have Ace Combat without one of those.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: So then we see Melissa and Ludmila again who have hitched a ride with the tank crew we saw a while ago.
    Executive: Okay.
Writer: And then the tank crew leaves them in the middle of a forest so that they can rob a bank.
Executive: Makes you wonder if the Emmerian Military does background checks on anyone before they let them in the military.
    Writer: It really does.
    Executive: So then what happens?
Writer: So then Talisman and Shamrock liberate Gracemeria and take out Pasternak.
    Executive: Who's Pasternak?
Writer: My excuse to have a rival in the game.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: So then the tank crew gets to the bank which is actually the castle.
    Executive: What's in the castle?
Writer: Some kids, one of them being Matilda, Voychek, and the statue of the Golden King.
Executive: So does the tank crew let the kids and Voychek out and mounts the statue onto their tank?
    Writer: Yep.
    Executive: Wow wow wow.
Writer: So then Melissa and Matilda get reunited.
    Executive: Oh how sweet.
Writer: Then later that night while the Garuda team is on patrol as the fireworks go off, we learn that Shamrock's wife and daughter were murdered by the Estovakians.
Executive: Ouch, talk about ruining a heartwarming moment.
Writer: I know, right. So then the Estovakians attack Gracemeria again, this time using the Chandelier.
    Executive: What's Chandelier?
Writer: My excuse to have a big super weapon fight at the end.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: So then the Emmerian air force head over to Sonne Island to take out the Chandelier and Melissa manages to get in contact with them.
Executive: How does she do that when she's 1,000 miles away from them?
    Writer: I don't know.
    Executive: Fair enough.
Writer: So then they attack the Chandelier and while going through a tunnel Shamrock gets shot down.
    Executive: Whoops.
    Writer: Whoopsie.
Executive: So then who deals the final blow?
    Writer: Well obviously Talisman.
    Executive: How?
Writer: By going straight into Chandelier's barrel which he manages to escape from.
Executive: Destroying super weapons by shooting the barrel is TIGHT.
    Writer: It really is.
    Executive: So then what.
Writer: So then Ludmila and Tosha get married.
    Executive: Who's Tosha?
Writer: I just made him up.
    Executive: Oh okay.
Writer: And then Shamrock and Melissa get together, possibly making Shamrock Matilda's step-dad.
Executive: Wait, Shamrock is still alive?
    Writer: Yes he is.
    Executive: How is he alive?
Writer: Because I want him to be alive.
Executive: Oh okay, so then what?
Writer: That's it. What do you think?
Executive: Well the story's kinda odd but if we make it an Xbox 360 exclusive instead of a PlayStation 3 exclusive no one will care and they'll still pay for it anyway.

This was the first game of the ace combat series I had ever played and I fell in love with the universe and the story. I know it has many flaws, and I would be one of the first to call it out if asked, but this game still holds a special place in my heart. I played it for so long, I loved the characters and the different units you would interact with, some staying with you all the way to the liberation off Gracemeria. One thing I sorely miss is the operations. To me, it felt like I was part of a bigger cause, with massive ground battles and ariel fights that could be swung in favor by the player. There were so many little stories within the campaign that I loved to explore it. I understand that this game is not everyone's favorite, but I just wanted to say that I loved this game and all of the massive set-piece battles, the characters, and units. It brought me into the franchise and I intend to continue to be a loyal supporter of this franchise for many years to come!

Wouldn't it be more efficient for the bus/train to drop the refugees off as soon as they are reasonably safe and then go back for more people who are still in the conflict zone. Far more people can be evacuated in a short time if you use this method.

I never understood how they used "Dance with the Angels". They constantly throw it as an insult, but then they tell their friends to dance with the angels as encouragement, and cheerfully talk about how they're dancing with the angels. What kind of insult is this?

    • @astronomybrainiac
      @astronomybrainiac Před 5 lety +2

Maybe the meaning changes based on the tone, kinda like "go screw yourself!" Can be either playful/endearing if said in a light tone, or an insult.
Not defending it or anything though. Everytime my wingman said that stupid line, I honestly made an effort to blow him out of the sky with the EML.

Just in case if you watch this on mobile phone, sin at 2:51 indicates that your wingman fires a missile right next to you. This is what it confused me for quite a long time (and why Sly sinned it while I don't see or hear shit) since phones are not sensitive to hear some or particular SFX, but computer speakers can.

I respectfully disagree with the sin over the music for the Chandelier, it made the whole mission feel so surreal, an almost dreamlike quality that I personally enjoyed. Different? Yes, but it still had the same amount of punch as any of the other tracks for superweapons.

    • @LeonheartDelta
      @LeonheartDelta Před 5 lety +1

Also, listening to the Estovakian dialogue, the music is appropriately bleak for a nation that fell into a long-running Civil War after being blighted and decimated by multiple Meteor impacts.

If you think about "Go dance with an angel" as the equivalent to "Go F*ck yourself", the game gets better. Specially when Matilda says the sentence to her mom prior to departing toward the King's Castle.

    SlyCooperFan1,
I don't think you should have sinned the cutscene where the dude says, "Back to the sea you go. May you rest... in quiet slumber." Aigaion is the name the son of Gaia. He rules over the seas storms. The dude was obviously referencing this. The reference also fits pretty well since the heavy command cruiser caused a 'storm' wherever nimbus launched. "Back to the sea you go." - Referencing Greek Aiagion. "May you rest in quiet slumber." - Basically telling the cruiser and the myth to stop creating storms. The info is on Acepedia too, which is where I got it from.
If anything, I think a sin should have been taken off for the reference, as it was a good line imo. Yes, not many people will get the reference, but if they want to know why the reference exists, they would search it up and find out about Aigaion in the mythos. Learning/Knowledge should never be sinned.
    SlyCooperFan1 Sin count +1
Further more, Chandelier is NOT Stuck in place. It's a giant iceberg ship, you can see the path it took to turn around and face Gracemeria on the map. AND you can see the giant engine on the back!!!
    SlyCooperFan1 Sin count +2
I believe the point of Shamrock flying into the tunnel was to get data for AWACS. AWACS didn't have any data on the backup cooling unit, so Shamrock flew down and got either a camera shot or radar data on the cooling unit.

About those machine guns, considering that the plane we saw were A-10s and probably their unseen escorts. It’s semantic but it’s not even machine gun, it’s a bloody autocannon. I’m more astounded that a civilian vehicle engine was able to survive a hit from either 20, 25, or 30mm autocannon and got them that far, a much more acceptable explanation would be that the engine was hit by the fragments from those strafing aircrafts.
