It is...all of us Cass "CZcams moguls" sat together in the cinder car all weekend. Needless to say, I walked away with quite a sunburn. I wore a jacket on Sunday even though it was 80.

JORDAN, YOU DUNCE! I AM ONE OF THE CONJOINED TWINS! Me and my brother tylereghtynine are those twins and we have been going to Cass since 1998. We liked #2 AND #4 from riding with them on the Bald Knob train in 1999 and then when we saw #2 again in 03 assisting #11 with the Bald Knob train we just started liking #4 and missed her very much during her overhaul.

Thanks, Matt. And by the way, My name isn't Shea, it's Delp (you know, like BRAD Delp from Boston who passed away in 2007.) The "Shea" came from whern me and my girlfriend were eight years old and and I saw her and her family one Halloween Trick-Or-Treating at our old social worker's house, the 924 (hence the "924" in my name.) I thought the Sheas liked the 924 so I signed with the name Shea924. Someone already took the name Shea924 when I signed on YT again so my dad Tim added the "mister."

Well that's a different reason for "Shea" than I thought entirely. I figured it was because of the Shay locomotives at Cass, but you were just doing a play on words/letters for some reason. Very interesting story!

It was good meeting you, mrshea. I wish I could have talked longer but Jordan and company wanted me to record the whistleblow for them. I will be posting it in the next week or so. Hopefully you will get to come again next year for the 50th and we can talk a little more! 8D

Yes, Matt. The "Sheas" not the "Shays."

And the other 'in' in the reply to Jordan should be an 'it' referring to the train.

Got a question was shay number 6 ever once an oil burner or has she allwase Ben coal ? Cuz she has a stack like an oil burner and it's throwing me off ?

phillip dunn Nope, Shay #6 was built new in 1945 as a coal burner. She was the only Shay that was NOT built in the "Shay building" at Lima, but rather on the main shop floor where Lima's more standard locomotives were constructed (for instance, Berkshires). It has been said that there are some parts and details of #6 that were actually meant for larger engines, but I am not exactly sure what specific parts are in question. The "straight" stack vs. a diamond stack or Radley Hunter stack, was usually a buyer option rather than a builder one, but its possible by the time #6 rolled out, they no longer offered those other options (can you think of a non-geared engine that would use a diamond like a Shay that would have been built in the 1940s?). Anyway, the type of stack that a locomotive wears doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the type of fuel it uses. Diamonds which accommodated the use of spark arrestors more were normally only a preference of backwoods railroads where forest fires were more likely from errant sparks. It is known that Western Maryland used only straight stacks on all of their locomotives...even WM Shay #5 which immediately preceded #6 had been converted to a straight stack...even though she had previously worked for the Cass lumber operation (their Shay #14) using a traditional Cass diamond! :)

I was. I wore a 734 hat on Friday and for the rest of the weekend I wore a Four hat because I like the Four just like you. Not that I would copy you. You've been liking the Four since '95 and I've been liking her since '98. And no I did not, I repeat NOT ride the train. I chased in in the "McCurdy Mobile" (my Fleetwood Quest RV that I named after Jennette McCurdy, a nineteen-year-old Californian child actress that I have a crush on)
