I can't wait for the bookshelves reorganization video haha
LOL don't worry I'm starting that this weekend
I reread and rewatch all the time. I don’t forget what happened. I just like the world and delving back into certain books/movies
Tbf I don’t forget everything but there are always details that I don’t remember and that make it worth it!
Plus who doesn’t want to read a book they know they’ll love :p
I love to reread and rewatch too. I finished the hunger games series and started it again straight away cos I didn't want it to be over!
My memory is shit due to anxiety and I sometimes don't remember a lot about a book after a month or two. That being said, I remember the vibes for a very long time.
I reread on a monthly basis so it astounds me that other people never reread
I don’t reread because I’m always afraid a book I’ve loved I won’t enjoy as much the second time. Also, there are so many books I want to read, I don’t want to take the time to do a reread. Glad people who enjoy rereads do it though.
I used to reread all the time, my favorite books, books that maybe werent a favorite the first time but cant get out of my mind etc, but in later years I just think I have SO MANY new books to read, i just cant do it lol
I ALWAYS have a reread going! They help me fall asleep at night. Love rereading!
@@nipiti same here! I am trying to read all of the stuff I have on my physical shelves, it's hard because some fiend keeps buying new books (it's me, I'm the fiend)! And things I want to reread are usually chonky (like Stormlight, rereading it will take months)
I who have never known men is truly an experience, I could not put the book down 🔥 I'm also planning to reread it!
If I read a book and take notes in a notebook (whole passages), I remember it for a longer period of time; less if I just annotate and use post-its and even less if I read and can't concentrate (like on the bus). I have no problem rereading on rewatching if it's something I liked.
Looking forward to seeing the video where you organize your bookshelves. ❤🐈⬛📚
I can’t wait for the bookshelves reorganization so proud of you Emily 🧡❤️💛💛🩵🩵🩵💛🧡🧡❤️💛💞💞💙💔💖💖🌞🩶🌼🌼🌺🌷💚💚🦋💞💞💖💖🌼🌺🌸🌸🌷🌷🥀🥀🌷📖📙🪷📚📚🪷🪷📙📖📖🪷📚💐🌹🌹📚📚📚📚📚📚
Which books do you want to reread?
Howl's moving castle! This book will always give a nostalgic feeling when rereading (or rewachting the movie)
Love in other words, I normally don’t read romance books but I absolutely loved it
The Golem and The Jinni. It's been too long so I would need to reread it to finally get to the sequel.
The Delirium series by Lauren Oliver!
Piranesi, The Secret History, Pachinko
I just started Dawn and Blood Over Bright Haven! I love them both so far! I kept hearing you talk about both of them, so thanks for the recommendations! 💕
Oooh can’t wait to hear how you feel about them when you’re done!!
Yep. Fully expected the last 2 you mentioned! 😊💫
I bought I Who Have Never Known Men last week. I added it to my tbr last year per your recommendation and then I saw several people say they absolutely loved it during their best of 2023 videos. I don’t live in a big city. It took me this long to be in a city with a bookstore that carried it.
I hope you'll love it! The french edition was sold out for months and that's why I didn't reread it right away XD
I have come to know Octavia E. Butler because of you and am soon starting Kindred by her! I hope you enjoy your reread of her books ❤
That's the best way to start reading her books!
I Who Have Never Known Men is a perfect one to reread! It has so much depth and it's one of those books that sticks with you long after reading it.
I read Blood Over Bright Haven because of you and I loved it. Thank you!
I want to say that, with His Dark Materials trilogy, I had exactly the same experience as you! I first read them (in Spanish, bc native tongue) when I was like 12-14 years old and I loved it, but when I re-read the whole trilogy (now in English too) when I was like 22, I was like "wow... I missed so much before!" but I loved it, because it felt like a new experience that didn't undermine my first one and I'm thinking on re-reading them soon (I'm 30 now) and hoping to see more aspects of it now that I know and have lived more since then. Also, yeah, it can be for young readers but the undertone is definitely mature.
❤ I read Flowers for Algernon probably 20-30 years ago and my heart squeezes still. When you get ready for a re-read, let us know and we can go through it with you, maybe have a tissue party with a box of tissues for everyone ❤
I also plan to re-read "Blood Over Bright Haven" in the traditional published version ( by DelRey in October). My most re-read book is "Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke.
I never felt as seen in a charcter before, so I return to "Piranesi" whenever I need the words to express the truth within my soul, to feel a wonder like no other and to be comforted.
I usually don't reread books, but I read I who have never known men in 2022 thanks to you, reread it last year and I'm already planning to read it again this year. I think it'll become my yearly tradition.
I feel the same!! I’m curious if my feelings will change but I think it will always be a favourite!
Omg I have read the Humans by Matt Haig so many times, and I agree, its by far his best work! Love your book recs so much, they feel so different from other youtuber in the best way! 🥰
❤️
I need to prioritise reading some favourite books too. Like you say, it's difficult to pick up a book you've already read when there are so many books out there. I used to re-read favourites all the time when I was younger but I haven't re-read a book for about 3 or 4 years now (which interestingly aligns with when I started my booktube channel). It would be great to read some of my favourites from 3 or 4 years ago to see if they're still favourites ☺
I feel like i never forget books, at least not books I read before 2020-ish. I burnt out around that time and my brain works differently now, but before then, I couldn't forget anything. I am now rereading a book I read in 2014 and from the first page I remembered all the plot points, the reveal at the end and all the characters with the way I imagined them. Which rereading now, is funny because I imagined them completely wrong XD.
I've been starting to reread more and more and I have been loving it!
I bought I Who Have Never Known Men (in French) because of you!!! It will be my next one (I also bought the last Patrick Senécal so I HAD to start with him).
Warbreaker was my first Brandy Sandy book & I inhaled it so quickly! I don’t re-read books often but I need to go back & enjoy this one…
Haha, I also read Flowers for Algernon about ten years ago, and omg I am so not ready for the emotional heartbreak again 😅 (I remember having a cry at the end, and that's never happened before or since 😅)
I’ve read the Final Empire at least twice and I’m planning on rereading it again this year 😅
I just finished “I who never known men” and I loved it. I felt more sinapses in my mind 😊
Yay!! I keep giving people copies of it because I want everyone to try it haha
@@BookswithEmilyFoxI’m sad I’m not capable to read in French despite I had 3 year in middle school because I want to read more books by her.
I think that the story is an experiment. The author was a psychoanalyst. What do you think?
Great video! I however will not be rereading a little life (literally how could you face it!) I’ve actually been rereading all the Becky chambers recently though because I find them so soothing to listen to when I can’t sleep at night ❤
She’s so great! I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!
Oh... I wish I could forget so many things. Sadly, (and happily in some cases) I never forget my favorite books. I reread them, knowing what's coming, and find the parts I love to feel the feels of, just to feel the echoes. I can tell you synopses of my favorite books (and some hated books) that I read as a tiny kid. Once they're in my brain, they set up shop and never leave.
I'm the same with forgetting books, if it's been (often less than) a year between books in a series I have to reread the previous books before picking up the new one. 🙂 But it's great, I love that I can reread favorite books almost like it's the first time reading them! 😃
I’m a chronic rereader lol. There are some books I’ve reread 10+ times. It usually takes me a few years to forget a book, but if I like it, I don’t wait that long. I will admit that at least a couple times, I finished a book and went back to the beginning to reread it immediately lol.😂
I've pre-ordered the new hardback of Blood Over Bright Haven that's out from Del Rey Books October 29th: "The hardback will feature red sprayed edges, gold and red foil on the jacket, an endpaper map and an interior illustration." 😍
Omg that sounds awesome!!
I used to never reread cause like you said the amount of books I haven't gotten around to gets overwhelming and felt like I was wasting time if I reread. Also my memory was sooo much better before lol. Nowadays, I do reread more often, specially for series when I need a refresher before next book comes out.
I really enjoyed a little life too. It was so good. I read it over a period of like 5 days where all of my free time I sat at my kitchen table and cried and read hahaha.
I’m the same with forgetting books. I love a good reread!
I generally hate romance but I just love Emily Henry. Reread them all back to back last year. Was afraid they would let me down the second time but loved them still. They are just my go to comfort books. The audiobooks are maybe even better. Haven’t found anything similar sadly..
I want to reread all the favourites i had growing up and some from recent years to see if they still hold up: Hunger games, the humans, infernal devices, darker shade of magic, murder on the orient express, poppy war, remnant chronicles
So far I've reread and would love to reread again Inkheart series (Cornelia Funke), and Black Mage series (Trudi Canavan), and Percy Jackson series. All of them are my favourites since primary school. In the future, I want to reread Lord of the Rings (well, I started a reread for Uni, but we weren't required to finish), School for Good and Evil series (because I only really read first 4 and there is 6 of them + 2 prequels waiting on my shelf).
Btw, have you ever read Inkheart? I really really recommend it. First book was maybe 8/10 for me, and it's mostly nostalgia, but second and third book were great. And there is 4th book coming in English soon (it's already out in German, but while I bought the book on the premiere day, I can't understand German)
I just read Flowers for Algernon and damn, the emotional rollercoaster. I could barely get through the final few pages because I was crying so hard I had to stop like every other sentence.
I can’t wait to read it again!
Girl, random, but you do such a good job of wearing your colors. I think you're definitely a winter ✌🏻 And you look so good in the winter palette colors you wear so often!
Thank you! Sometimes I still wear colors that aren't my best but I love them so... lol
Will finally start "I who have never known men" tomorrow and am super excited!
You have to tell me how you felt about it once you’re done!!
Omg Lilith's Brood series being the "least traumatizing" of all of Butler's books? Dawn gave me a very uncomfortable feeling while reading and even afterwards couldn't shake that feeling. It felt very gross. I was interested in reading Kindred, but ever since Dawn I've been seriously questioning that.
Least traumatizing series! I think Kindred is easier because we're more used to hearing about slavery and it's less... alien. A tough read but I think you'll enjoy it!
I think someone has listened to you because "I who have never known men" has finally gotten a translation and it's now available in my country and I'm so excited to read it!
Yayy!
The romance I have for this month is "The Seven Year Slip" by Ashley Poston, I've heard good things and it has time travel.
I didn’t know it had time travel! definitely let me know how it goes!
I finally found a copy of "I who have never known men" in my language so now I can read it.
I love rereading The Colorado Kid by Stephen King! It’s the only King book I’ve liked (so far) and it reads like someone telling you a story with a great mystery attached. It’s also what the TV show “Haven” is loosely based upon, and I love that show!
I’m keen to reread Stormlight before book five releases later this year, too. But wow 1,000 pages per book is a lot so I’m hoping I can do it quickly. 🙈😂
That's... daunting!
Literally just finished my reread of The Humans. I ended up dnf'ing it second time around. But I knew I was going to love it. I just didn't feel like reading thr end.
I think for me it depends on the book itself how fast I want to reread. As for Moi Qui N'ai Pas Connu Les Hommes, I have it on my shelf, it keeps staring at me and even though I read it last May, I wholeheartedly would reread now... and maybe every month just because it's that good😂
Reading Flowers for Algernon (for 1st time) next month & I will pick up I Who Have Never Known Men
Lots of emotions to come haha hope you’ll love them!!
Emily as a series do you prefer Lilith’s Brood or The Broken Earth ?
Oh that’s hard… maybe Lilith?
Thank you for the video, Emily. Here again reccomending for you The tainted cup, a murder mystery SciFi with an older woman as main character.
I’ll definitely check it out!
It can take me a very long time to forget books! I have reread books after 7 years and that was fine haha. But anything sooner and I remember too much
I forget surprisingly quickly the twists in mystery/thriller books! Some other ones, I'll have forgotten enough details for it to be worth it after a few years!
I'm the same, I hate rereading/rewatching stuff. I will say "No, I haven't forgotten it yet!" My theory is the visual memory difference between people. If someone can't "replay" it in their heads, it makes sense that they would reread more than someone who can.
Nah, I can literally replay a whole book in my mind like a movie and sometimes replaying a scene is why I pick it up again.
I just have specific books that make me so comfortable that I want to dive in again. Some are also just so good that I have to experience it again and I feel the same as when I first read it.
Having anxiety also means that sometimes you just want something you already love.
@@CherreePanda Totally fair. I find that my own anxiety means that knowing what will happen next allows my mind to wander too much
Happy you loved Emily Henry I love her so much love her books 💛💛📙📚🌼🌼📚📖📖📖🥀🌈❤️🌈💓🦋🌸💙💖🩵🌼📙💛📖📖🌺🪷🌷💞💚💕🧡🧡💘🌈🌞🩷🌈❤️💛💛📚🌼💖🌹💓💓🌈🌞💓💓💘💘🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵💙💙💙💙🌸💙💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

I love to reread! ❤
I've only ever reread My cousin Rachel, and I'll probably reread it again soon. It's a book you want to reread once you turn the last page, I can't tell you why you'll have to figure out for yourself 😉
Sadly for me I saw the movie before I knew it was a book… I’m waiting to forget enough to read it 😂
Is blood over bright haven difficult to read? I struggle with some fantasy in English 😅
I want to say no but I’m not sure I don’t really remember
Flower for Algernon is one of my alltime favorite read 💔💔💔💔💔
Lotr(all 3), eragon(1&4),Great gatsby, tale of two cities got(1&3), green mile😝
I love rereading and even made it a goal so I wouldn't feel guilty for neglecting my unread books.
Making it a goal is such a good idea!
I forget books pretty quickly, haha. I could reread in a few weeks
I can’t believe you overlooked mentioning Becky Chambers.
I wish I could also reread Emily Henry's books.
I took a trip to Paris in February, so I couldn't miss the chance to buy a French copy of I Who Have Never Know Men, so whenever I get to rereading it, it's going to be in French! (Very slowly though, mon français n'est pas si bon)
That’s awesome! Luckily it’s short so it might not be a problem!
Might be worth it to pick up the pace on reading Stormlight Archive. The last book of this era comes out in December and that will complete the story of these characters. Books 6-10 are gonna follow different characters in a different era and he's not gonna start writing them for yeeeears.
I really want to 😭
Yeah the Humans , I read it after your recommended it
I didn’t have to read flowers for Algernon but I did have to watch the movie in science class in 8th grade (aka 12-13 years old) and it was so traumatizing I’ve never picked up the book😂
I want to re-read the Invisible Life of Addie Larue and Circe. I’ve been putting it off because I love them so much and have read so many books since, I’m afraid they won’t live up to my memory.
I’d love to re read the poppy war trilogy but I never reread 😅
Fine, I'll read I Who Have Never Known Men XD
Blood over bright haven isn't available anymore as it has been picked up by a trad publisher :D I think it is going to be rereleased in august!
Yeah this was prefilmed before I found out!
@@BookswithEmilyFox Imagine how many more people will see it now :D
I’m glad she’s going to get all the hype she deserves
I have books i forget right away and then i have books that stay with me very very long.
I’ve read these all but I who have never known women but I want to!!
I can't recommend it enough!
I reread "the first 15 lives of harry august" by Clair North every time I can't choose my next book. I always find myself daydreaming reliving my own life and this book started it.
Have you tried other books with a similar trope? "Replay" by Ken Grimwood would be worth a shot!
@@BookswithEmilyFox tnx. I've read replay twice and almost every other book in the genre. But this one is just my comfort book. Do you have a comfort book you keep returning to?
I finished The Goblin Emperor and it was amazing! My first 5 star book in ages. I read a library copy, so as soon as I finished it I ordered a copy for myself to own, which is very rare for me (I only own about 30 books). It was a very well observed exploration of emotions in a complicated and broken family dynamic, with an excellent fantasy story layered on top. Thank you so so much for recommending it! ❤ It's definitely going to get several rereads by me over the coming years.
Yay!! I’m so glad you liked it too ❤️
❤❤❤
I forget (even my favorite) books immediately 😂
Where is snowglobe Emily? Did the cats k*lled her?😂
No but I’m not taking any risk! She’s out of reach on the top shelf of the cabinet
I heard some criticism about His Dark Materials being anti-religious and "killing God" and chalked it up to typical hyperbole. Then I read them and was like oh were are literally killing God lmao. I re-listened to them on audiobook as an adult and loved the experience. The first is still an absolute classic.
Oops.
"I'm allowed to still rave about it until everyone reads it." I felt that in my SOUL.
Gotta make sure everyone picks it up 😂 also you cat looks like mine 👀
@@BookswithEmilyFox that's my sweet Anakin! He's lazy and chonky!
You always remind me of letter Kenny. To be fair!
I haven’t seen the show so idk how to take this lol
I Who Have Never Known Men: The only book I have ever reread straight away. Literally started over the second I finished it. And yes, I have theories 😁😁
Lord of the Rings is probably the books I’ve read the most ❤️
I agonized through it to say I had read it. I will never read it again. My brother named his son Samwise because of how much he loves the story. We thought he was kidding when he announced the baby’s name.
I was given a set when I was 10 and only just recently had to get new ones because the pegs started falling out. They lasted almost 20 years ❤️
*pages
I don’t like to reread, and I think that’s bad. I really think some books are really worth re reading, but it’s like I’m always reading constantly and feeling i want to read every book i hear about and i have no time to re read. I think it takes me two years to forget a book. And I think that happens when u read a lot of books. I mean if you read 10 or 20 books per year you would remember them more easily. But once they become 70 or more, and u r suddenly reading more than a 100, they all get muddled up and u forget them.
I wish I was a regular reread girlie but there's too many books so I manage only one reread every year.
I used to reread a lot but now that I have access to more books… I need to read them all first 😂
📚📚📚
Now I want to re-read The Golden Compass 😭🤣
You should!!
From like 11-15 I reread HP every summer 😂
I thought To be taught if fortunate would be on here!
It’s one of the few I reread so it’s still fresh in my mind for now! I’m sure I’ll reread it again eventually though!
1. The KJV Bible
2. House of Leaves
3. The Idiot
4. Anything “Faulkner”
5. Anything “Palahniuk”
6. Anything “Bukowski”
7. Jesus’ Son
8. Swan Song (Robert McCammon)
9. Anything “Cormac McCarthy”
10. Anything “Sam Shepard”
Honorable mention: Anything “Anne Rice”
📚❤️🐱
I reread my favorite book every year, lol.
I like that, I might have to start doing the same!
His Dark Materials should not have been marketed as kids books…I definitely view them as adult novels
I loved it as a kid but I do think more adults should try it!
Do you have a list of authors that you will never reread?
I did two! :) czcams.com/video/dkWTZHYXEkc/video.html
czcams.com/video/fLQrZ4KIBTs/video.html
Oh I just realized you probably meant that I love the book but won’t reread 😂 I don’t have a video on that but I might!
Shocked that the long way to a small angry planet isn’t on here
I thought about it but I relistened to part of it as an audiobook on a road trip recently so I dont feel the urge to reread it soon! I’m sure I will one day!
I think American schools just want to traumatize us - Where the Red Fern Grows, Bridge to Terabithia, Flowers for Algernon...
I feel like forgetting Flowers for Algernon is appropriate!
Aww I loved Flowers for Algernon.
First!
