- The Dom (known by the Arabic term Nawar or Gypsy amongst other terms) are spread around the Middle East with ancient ethnic roots in India. The Dom is an ancient caste still existant in India today. The famous ghawazi dancer Khyrria Mazin is from the Dom community, still dancing like her ancestors that came from India. One of the last of her disappearring tradition. Beginning in the first half of the 19th century, descriptions and depictions of ghawazi dancers became famous in European Orieintalism and the style was described as danse de ventre or belly dance from the 1860's

Thank you for giving Khariya a voice. Her sisters were the most famous Ghawazi of the Golden Era. She is the only Nawar woman left I believe that dances and sings.
Oh my 😍heart and soul is happy. Thank you for this song. I am a gypsy myself and I love it with all my heart, thank you very much. But sukar gili 🤍🫶🏾🤍
Most beautiful performance by all, such a nice number 😊👏👏 thanks for trying to keep your culture alive Rajamani. Keep doing your great work and one day the whole world will realise and recognise the richness of your beautiful community. Thanks to the Roma for giving us beautiful music, dances and artists for centuries.
Fascination and awe
For someone from the USA this is something I have not seen before and I am not sure what to make of it. But variety is the spice of life is an old saying.
Just fabulous. Thank you. What a joyful woman!
Moved my heart
