Thank you for visiting the factory and supporting Aloha Tofu! I’m Paul’s niece and this was such a great video to watch😊
Congratulations to your family and it was quite interesting to see how it’s made. You should be proud.
Uncle Paul was so nice and informative! We hope you and the ohana enjoyed it! Mahalo! 🤙
What a great story teller/educator Paul Uyehara is; loved hearing his family and company history and also how his products are made. His showing and telling us about all what goes into making that innocent block of tofu and all the other tofu products was so interesting. Hope you are able to give us more of these types videos. Thank you.
Mahalo Sharon 🤙🏻 so glad you’re enjoying this series🩷 the amount of love and enthusiasm they have for tofu is amazing and a true testament to why they are still here today🥹
You guys are way too young to remember this, but back in the 70s, there used to be a locally-made after-school children's TV show called Checkers & Pogo. Every once in a while, they'd have a segment called "On the Go" where they visit a local company and do a behind-the-scenes thing just like this. Some of the ones I remember were the Meadow Gold (or maybe Foremost) ice cream factory, Dole Cannery, and an infamous one at the Honolulu Zoo. It was hands down my favorite part of the show, and your Made in Hawaii series brings up all those nostalgic feels. It's SOOOO AWESOME! I don't think there are any other YT'ers doing this kind of thing in Hawaii.
Wow, remember that show. I haven’t heard anyone mention Checkers and Pogo in decades.
I'm from wahiawa and I remember going to Honda Tofu on Mango Street. Sad to say they shut down I believe during or before the pandemic. Now I just buy my soft tofu at Tamuras. What Evers on sale💯🤙😎
I'll definitely stop by
Awesome video and Great job Paul and Misa👍🏼. THANK YOU Amanda and Felix for featuring Aloha Tofu🤙🏼🤙🏼
So nice to hear stories of how things came about. Ohana is everything
Thank you for this video. Brings back memories as my Dad's company was one of the sub-contractors that helped build the Aloha Tofu Factory back in the 1970's. I remember working on this job site in my youth. Mahalo Amanda and Felix!

Loving this new edu-tainment style content! It’s something different that no other food or travel vlog channels do. It makes me want to eat more locally produced foods because I can see exactly how fresh it is and I appreciate it the effort that goes into it. More of this food factory content please!

This was awesome! I love their tofu. Use to make ahi patties! Fresh ahi, Maui onion, green onion, minced ginger, minced garlic, egg for binder, salt, pepper…. and tofu! For the sauce, unagi sauce (kikkomon), shoyu, and mayo.
Fry patties in oil… killah!

I am learning how to make tofu at home, my mom used to, with her practical “tools” at home.
Wow, that was fascinating -- loved it! 😍 I've been trying to add more tofu into my diet, and from now on I'm going to search out the Aloha brand. It was so interesting to hear about the different products made during the process of making tofu. I love okara, and could only think, "Dang, those lucky pigs!" 🤣 I also love fried tofu and aburage, and now have a bigger appreciation for how tricky it is to make! Your host Paul Uyehara was so gracious and articulate, it makes me proud to know he has a successful local business. This show was a winner in your Made in Hawaii series! 👏
Awesome content! Please do more local factory/manufacturing. Loved this, loved Diamond Bakery. Mahalo.
Great video. I grew up in eastern Oregon. We were fortunate to have a couple of Japanese grocery stores. One store made fresh tofu once a week. I realize now how lucky we were.
I LOVE TOFU!!! This is the best and such a great way to showcase an amazing local company 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 and that merch is cute!
Natto Ohana!!! Our family loves natto. My grandma used to make stuff with okara, yes they were very poor plantation people. I still eat natto and tofu right out of the container. My coworker, from Mexico; used to see me eat tofu with shoyu for lunch. One day he tried it and told me; You eat it like it’s so good, but it’s not. 😂
Natto is soooo good! If you brought Natto to your Mexican coworker I wonder what he’d say🤔😂 lol
@@AmandaFelixEats Well, he moved to Colorado, but I don’t think he would enjoy it. 😂 I used to live next to a little ramen shop and they made a natto omelette, it was so good.
What a wonderful video! I love hearing the family history of this company. Visiting Aloha Tofu is now on my list of things to do, cant wait to try the soymilk! 😀
Yay! Definitely please check them out🥰🫶🏼 The amount of passion and dedication this family has is truly remarkable 🥹 and it definitely translates to their products!

I love these series! Ooh, can you do one for Okuhara foods?! They make chikuwa and other fish cakes they sell at our grocery stores here. We always use them to make Oden.
Amazing tour. I've gone there when aburage was not in the stores. They luckily had a few packages left so I could make Jai that year. Need to go back and get some merch.
I love your videos! Makes me homesick
Aloha 🌺 I used grew up behind a tofuya in Moiiliili. Playing chase in the bean room. Helping out during the busy season. They used give okara to the neighbors! Aloha 🌺🥰

@@AmandaFelixEats you both did a good job documenting!
AT is very good! in fact, I would always BUY the soft tofu because it would be great for my MAPO TOFU with assorted meats and Lee Kum Kee sauce.
