- 49-year-old Kalabu villager Anasa Tawake made a decision to take up farming on a commercial scale and to fully commit himself to it.
He was spurred towards this decision out of necessity and the realization that a different lifestyle would benefit him and his loved ones. His ambitions inevitably bore fruit, and his perseverance grew with his dalo, ginger and cassava.
From the initial start-up, he now has 133,000 dalo suckers on the ground, a number which is exclusive of the dalo he has already harvested in the past, and farming on his Mataqali Nawavatu land in Sakoca, which has dalo and tavioka with a piece of Mataqali Naulukaroa’s land in Veikoba where he also plants ginger and dalo, Mr. Tawake is satisfied with the outcome of his farming exploits.
This is his story.
