  • White limestone bluffs and dense trees surround Cedar Lake, the centerpiece of Cleburne State Park. The small lake is just right for canoeing, swimming and fishing. Located southwest of Fort Worth, Cleburne is an ideal retreat from city life. For more information go to tpwd.texas.gov...

There's plenty of wildlife, but you shouldn't have to worry about them if you're camping at a designated site. There's white-tailed deer, turkeys, ducks, armadillos, squirrels, skunks, bobcats, cottontail rabbits, raccoons, opossums, coyotes and many species of birds. You probably won't see any bobcats because they're very shy and wary of humans. Coyotes are also unlikely to be a problem, but unlike bobcats they're omnivores who might be interested in human food if it's left out. So just make sure you secure your food properly and enjoy yourself. It's a beautiful park.
