Will you be testing the Smart Air manufacturer Air purifiers sometime in your future?
@@utubestalkerdotcom Do you mean this brand? moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/smartmi-p1-review/
You should have removed the music when showing how loud they are
Yep...you're right, sorry about that. That was an oversight.
I thought the purifiers were musical versions.
@@liannebenn2097 lol
I didn't mind the music, now using it as my ring tone
Exactly what I came here to say lol
There are so many "review" channels on here. None are as exhaustive in their coverage AND test harness. Very impressive. You should have more views. Pls keep at it and hope you grown exponentially very soon. Great job!
You're too kind. Thanks very much! Hopefully the CZcams algorithm will throw some love soon.
@@ModernCastle, Please test intellipure
@@sumeriansumer1622 Thanks for the suggestion. I'll put that on our list.
I love seeing all the different air purifiers in the yard next to each other... It's like a scene from a dream I once had, or was that a nightmare? LOL! 😆 I think the Coway Mighty and Winix 5500 are really good options for particles for smaller rooms for the money. But I would still take the IQAir HealthPro Plus over all of them for particle filtration. 👍
I wouldn't mind seeing manufacturer's recommended filter life expectancy and average filter cost for future air purifier tests. That is a major purchasing consideration for myself.
Manufacturer's recommended filter life is 6-12 months for virtually all of these (with very few exceptions).
Filter replacement cost by CFM is here - 23:40
Can you test the Dyson Big and quite formaldehyde? Appreciate you
I'll add that to our list. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@ModernCastle Ugh I really wish it was already in this test.
PLEASE TEST the Carico Air Purifier. see if its really worth the price, its around $1500, and "the best in the world" it really does look like it should/could be.
I'll put it on my list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Why do you have music playing when trying to show us the difference in how loud the units are on high vs low.
It was an oversight on my part. Sorry about that.
Ty but can’t hear the low settings over the music playing constantly thanks for all the testing
Apologies about that, was an oversight on my part.
Thank you very much for testing these, it helped a lot! Because i was wondering what the best purifiers are on the market at this moment.
My pleasure. Glad you found it helpful!
Just a constructive criticism tip.. love that you wanted to give the sounds of the low speed and high speed fans... Alas, the background music spanning the entire video rendered the intent useless... Could not hear a thing
Yep...my apologies for that. That was a huge oversight. We won't do that next year.
What about the dyson fan with air purifier?
Dyson's air purifier line up is solid as well. However, they are also very expensive.
At every coverage level Dyson air purifiers were more expensive for the same performance / coverage level, as a result, it just makes more sense to go with brands that cost less but do the exact same thing as Dyson.
@@ModernCastle wow thanks so much for the quick response. I really appreciate it.
❤️❤️❤️

When i saw the DIY air filter lined up on the grass with all the others i got excited to finally see the video ive been begging for for months, so i watched the whole thing to let the anticipation build up, but it didnt show up.
Is there a 2nd part coming later?
Unfortunately, the DIY air purifier video got buried in our queue and I'm not sure if / when we'll have time to get to it.
However, you can see all of the tests and data here - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/diy-air-purifier-review/
Thanks for the Video.
I never have had an air purifier but my allergies are murder this year.
I got the Winix 5500-2 and after the first day my sleep improved significantly and my allergies are non-existent at night. I now have one in my in home office and sleep area and the life improvement is significant for allergies. The sensor isn't all that great for pollen detection so I just leave it on 2 all day and when I go to bed I'll set it to night mode. In the morning I'll set it to two again before I get out of bed and sometimes to 3 before going to bed because pollen is worst in the morning and late afternoon.
That's great to hear! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Glad to hear the purifier is already making a big difference for you.
Levoit is not available for a reasonable price here where I live (would cost almost $300) I can get the xiaomi 4 compact for around $100. Is it s good buy?
Xiaomi 4 Compact is a solid purifier as well. Not quite good enough to make our list here, but only just missing the cut based on its performance.
what would you say for a five hundred square foot living room that is heavily smoked in? did your test eliminate the incense smell ? what about the next day is anything lingering? is it better to go with a unit thats oversized for the room its going in would that help eliminate smoke odor quicker?
If it's already been heavily smoked in your need professional cleaner services to remove that from walls and carpets.
If you're still smoking in there then a purifier with a large carbon filter is what you need. IQAir GC MultiGas would be my top pick. Nothing is going to remove smells better.
moderncastle.com/go/iqair-gc-multigas
What's your verdict on the Levoit Core Mini?
Not one we've tested yet, unfortunately.

Why do some of them have prop 65 them??
Unsure on that
Why would you play music when "attempting" to show how loud the units are???
Sorry about that. It was an oversight on my part.
You noted that some include ionization and others don't, so does that mean that ionization doesn't actually have any effect?
I live in a 625 sq ft single bedroom condo, so I would prefer very small and quiet units, but I don't want to sacrifice effectiveness. Did I miss a video that reviews mini units?
What would you recommend?
The types of ionizers on most of these units will have a minimal impact on performance. Ionization as a technology can be effective, but it needs to be high powered ions, but that can create ozone, and has its own risk factors.
We don't have any type of video that reviews mini units. The Core 300 in this video is the smallest unit I would recommend.
For air purifiers, size matters. The smaller the unit, the smaller the coverage and in many cases the worse the performance is going to be. With 625 sq. ft. you could go with a medium-sized unit like the AirDoctor 3000 - moderncastle.com/go/airdoctor-3000
@ModernCastle Thank you SO much for the detailed information and quick response! I've been searching and comparing for hours on and off for several years now. I'm so happy I finally found you!
@@mariekaren4295 My pleasure! Glad I was able to help.
@ModernCastle Wow! I just followed the link and saw that they also have a new wall mounted unit. I suspect that would be even better for me because I could locate it in the most central location just under a dusty central A/C vent. Would you agree?
@@mariekaren4295 That makes sense to me. I haven't tested it, so cannot say for sure. However, I've yet to test anything from AirDoctor that I haven't been highly impressed with.
Would be amazing if you could also have a summary in a table of dimensions and also connectivity (ideally whether via Wifi or BT and whether you are locked into their proprietary app ecosystem, or they allow independent local control via something like Home Assistant). I know that's a big ask though but just some suggestions. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if we can work that in in our future videos.

Hold on here. Why does the baseline air quality change? Doesn't that make the specifications sort of meaningless?
In an ideal world we'd have perfect control over baseline air quality. And while we have gained more control over the years, we still test in a home-type environment to create more of a real world use case.
As a result, there is some variance in the baseline.
That said, we conduct our tests with an exceedingly generous amount of time for the unit to purify what is a fairly small space. As a result, any variance that exists at the baseline has more than enough time to be a non-factor by the conclusion of the 1 hour test.
The auto detection on some of these high end air purifiers is very sad . I bought the Dyson BP04 flagship earlier this year , all though they did not have any CFM, CDAR, or any of that information , just bare minimum information and I calculated it cleaned 180 cubic feet per minute, which for a $1200 air purifier was pretty bad compared to others. . I just got 2 BlueAir 211i Max on Prime day sale since I seen they had a high CDAR & CFM of 410 . But the air purifier only recognized PM particles , even when I tested spraying air freshener in the room which the Dyson would have labeled a VOC and is a VOC. Plus iv found that both the Dyson BP04 and now the BlueAir or any purifier the sensor is always very small and on the back of the device , I honestly got these air purifiers for my PM vape smoke and the VOC when cooking . As much as I hated the Dyson BP04 i think it’s price $1200 just did not sit with me well, but the product sensor and functions are well designed. Will test these BlueAir 211i max for a few weeks and see if ima keep them or not.
I will like to know which one doesn't produce ozone or if it does you can choose not to use the feature
None of these produced any measurable level of ozone. Our meter measures to 0.1 parts per million.
can you do a laboratory test for undersink water filtration as well? not only the plastic pitcher style ones ?

Deciding between a Levoit core300s and Levoit vital100s for a ~150 sqft bedroom to help with seasonal allergies. Which one should I get?
I'd go Core 300s. It performed better than the Vital 100s in our test.
@@ModernCastleI see but in your test list, it was the vital100 not the vital100s so I thought it wasn’t tested in this video
@@asianVinh There is no functional difference between the vital100 and vital100s. The difference is just smart home connectivity.

Trying to decide between the Oransi Mod+ vs. LEVOIT Core 600S, as the main floor unit For an open floor plan 4,000 Sq Ft home. I would like to keep the price point to $500 or less. Please let me know if you would suggest any other unit. Thank you, and great review!
I'd go with Oransi Mod+
I like Levoit as a value purifier, but if you've got the budget for it then absolutely, the Oransi is the better choice. The build quality alone makes it superior.
@@ModernCastle Thank you! So my wife wanted to try the Shark NeverChange first since Costco had them. But do you have any thoughts on the Oransi Mod+ vs the Shark NeverChange? I’m primarily looking for a unit that can handle a 4,000 Sq Ft home, Can tackle dust, pet hair, and basement mold. If the Oransi Mod+ or the Shark NeverChange can handle these requirements, great. Otherwise, is there another unit you would recommend for my specifications? Thank you again!
@@Viva0331 Neither of those units can handle 4,000 sq. ft. You'd want at least 3 units to handle that space.
Between those two, I would opt for the Oransi Mod+. It's just the stronger performer and stronger build quality.
@@ModernCastle Thank you for the reply! So, having the Shark NeverChange air purifier for a few days now I realize I like having the auto feature, and number display indicating how clean the air is. I know the Mod+ doesn’t have auto mode but can you tell me if it has a number display? I am now trying to decide between the Oransi Mod+ and the, Medify Air MA-125. Seems like the MA-125 has the display features I’m looking for, and greater coverage, but costs a bit more and seems like it needs more frequent filter replacements. Could you tell me which one you’d recommended out of these two? Thank you again!
@@Viva0331 Mod+ doesn't have any type of display numbers. There is essentially no display. Just controls.
Between MA-125 and Mod+ I would go with MA-125.
The two best residential purifier are IQair HPP and Aeris Aair 3-1..
Do any of the usual-suspects of popular models ( airmega 400 , medify ma-112 , nuwave oxypure , Shark 3-in-1 max / NeverChange etc) have a filter replacement indicator that is based the actual state of the filter, not just the time it's been on? I imagine, a non-smoking house, lots of plants, and no pets versus lots of cooking/frying, cigarette smoke filled house will cause the filters to be worn very differently after the same amount of on-time.
I don't know of any air purifier brand that uses a filter indicator based on filter state. I am not even sure how they would effectively determine that, assuming they would.
Virtually all filter replacement indicators are simple timers.
BP04 from Dyson not tested, it is much stronger than BP01. Will like to see this one be added in the test.
I'll put it on our list to test! Thanks for the suggestion.
It would be a lot easier for us to hear the filters if you did not include background music. ;-)
Yep...sorry about that. Huge oversight on my part.

I have tall ceilings, and really bad allergies. Do you think I should go with the Winix 5500 ????💭
It's a great air purifier, provided it is sized to your space.
Is your home around 360 sq. ft.? If so then Winix 5500 is perfect.
If not, then you want to go with a larger cover unit.
Contrary to your review, the Alen 45i does have app connectivity. The Flex is the model without app connectivity in a similar form factor (uses the same filters)
My apologies for the error!
@@ModernCastle we all make mistakes, it says a lot about you that you are able to acknowledge it.
@@natesewell9402 I appreciate your graciousness. Thanks for bringing that error to my attention.
Just as a tip for future reviews, when you are doing Sound Tests, it’s a good idea to mute all of the background music so that we can hear exactly what it sounds like and not have any music combating or covering any of the sounds.
Great job, otherwise!
Yep, my apologies for that. Huge oversight. We'll make sure this doesn't happen again in future videos.
What would you recommend for a one bedroom apartment? Budget options to higher end?
Anything on this list that is appropriate to your square footage.
Any unit that is EN 1822 verified. EN 1822 is the gold standard.
My favorite non- EN 1822 certified, budget purifier is the Coway Mighty AP-1512 HH.. but the updated AP-1512 HHS is better since it uses the pellet style carbon filter instead of sheet, and Wifi mode is another plus.

@@ethimself5064My pleasure!
Did y’all test Intellipure Air purifiers?
Unfortunately, we haven't tested anything by Intellipure. But I can add them to our list. Thanks for the suggestion.
great test THANKS !
You are welcome!
Can you repost this without the background music going?
Is it really that bad?
Did you used to do mattress reviews somewhere until the site was bought out? You look super familiar
Good memory!
Yes, I was the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Sleepopolis from 2014 to 2017
More recently I founded naplab.com/ in 2021. So if you need help finding a new mattress be sure to check us out!
@@ModernCastle Awesome to come across your reviews again. You helped me choose a mattress way back when with your sleepopolis site. Hope you and your family are doing well!
@@MikeReimers That's awesome! Glad you found me again 😃 Hope the mattress we picked out way back when is still working out well for you! Thanks so much for your kind words.
Really want to see you include pur enrichment air purifiers in your tests
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if we can get one of those for testing.
So which one is the best ??????????????????
Each purifier in this video is best at their respective coverage level.
"Here is what it sounds like on high- and low-power modes" (background music keeps playing.)
Yep...sorry about that, we messed up there.
Can you test the bloom air purifier please!
I'll put it on the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
could we get an car air purifier test i feel like there’s very very few ones that are actually decent and last a while
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll have time for that this year.
The few car air purifiers we've tested have just been woefully under-powered...which makes sense, as almost always they are super compact, often designed to sit in a cup holder. When it comes to air purifiers, size matters. In almost all cases, the bigger the unit, the better the purification.
So it's a real catch 22 for car air purifiers. If they are big enough to do their job then they are too big for the car. If they are compact enough for a car then they are so small they really aren't doing anything.
Can you test xiaomi elite and 4 ? Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add that to our list.
11:45 Shark Never Change test results
How come honeywell isn't on this list they have some good hepa filers
No particular reason. We just haven't tested them yet.
No Philips products?
Not one we've tested yet.
Who cares about noise,. Does it take out vox's , gas's
Great video!!
Thanks!
Didn’t you test the Dyson big + quiet formal dehyde models?
We've not tested those models yet
Would love to hear what you have to say about surgically, clean air purifiers
Almost all of them are nothing more than marketing nonsense.
There is no legally defined term for "surgical" or "medical-grade" when it comes to air purifiers.
They still may be good air purifiers, but I don't read into any of those marketing terms.
Are you going to do the new Dyson?
We'll see if we can get one for testing
Background music while giving sound samples rather defeats the point.
Sorry about that...oversight on my part. We won't do that next year.
The music ruined the video
Sorry you didn't like the music
I dont want them gigantic things in my house, why dont anyone review one that compares to EdenPure, thats the size I want but the price is high.........
Small form factor units are only capable of delivering a small quantity of purified air. That's why higher performance units are physically larger.
I have a lavoit 400s and two 200s units, my apartment is 700 sq ft
Should be more than fine with that setup
thank you for this its amazing
You're welcome 😊
Useless. Another ad just to sell what he has money from.
Where are the others air purifiers tests ??? 95 ? I saw only 16.
The full list is in the opening - czcams.com/video/cdu8CBzyJw8/video.htmlsi=RSukQ-wTiRihAg3q&t=30
Full list of data and objective testing for all 95 is here - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/
WHY DO YOU FOCUS ON THE SOUND SO DAM MUCH IN YOUR TESTS WHEN DOES IT TAKE OUT GASES ETC AND WE WANT TO SEE THAT NOT LISTEN TO HOW LOUD IT IS AND YOU JUST TALK AND NOT SHOW IT CLEARING SMOKE ETC.
I'm sorry that our video wasn't structured in the way you wanted it to be.
Couldn’t even finish the video due to annoying music
Sorry you didn't like the music.
This guy smokes so much weed.
so maybe he can tell us the best purifier for weed smoke lol. seriously asking that thou
xiaomi the best

If I understand correctly, Dyson did not score at the top in any category? @moderncastle
Dyson was on par with many of the models in this video in terms of performance.
However, they are significantly more expensive at every coverage level.
It just makes more sense to buy from other brands that have the same performance / features / quality, but are significantly less expensive than Dyson.
@@ModernCastle thanks for your response. But I think it would be cool if you mentioned that in the video. I have a Dyson and a LG Aerotower, saw them on the list but not a single comment about them in the video.
@@ricardomamiya1536 Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
I'm sorry the video didn't have what you were looking for.
