- We went to Din Tai Fung in Downtown Disney for the first time. It just opened at the beginning of July and is a welcome addition to the Disneyland food scene.
We tried their signature Xiao Long Bao, including the chocolate dessert variety. We'll walk you through the whole process of checking in, ordering your food, what to get, how to eat the Xiao Long Bao, and more.

The waiter coming up and awkward backing out at 8:18. Relatable. 😂

'Order More Chocolate': Words to live by. :)
You can never have too much chocolate 🍫
@@SoCalDisneyDadNEVER! 😁
Traver, Amy, James and Benjamin: thank you very much for the super fun live yesterday! I had some anxiety last night and you all distracted me from it perfectly! It helped me calm down and I really appreciated you answering all of my questions 🤗💫 Can’t wait to see what you guys of thought of Din Tai Fung! I’m looking forward to going there 😃 Hope you are having a great night 🌟
Glad we could be a distraction. And Din Tai Fung was amazing!
Let’s go traver keep doing what your doing
This video is amazing! Thank you for posting realistic content, suited for families. Especially those who may only get to visit here once! This has helped me decide that we WILL eat here on our visit. ❤
I need those silicon plates for my 1 year old granddaughter! 😂 Please let James know that he made my day with the surprise thank you card. When my grandson who is 9 next month, heard me say it was from SoCal Disney Dad, he was so excited! You both are good parents and examples. I love watching your videos.
When I lived in Seattle, we loved DIN TAI FUNG!!
Awesome review! So glad you had a great experience. Considering this for out trip in April. Love the kids dishes but wouldn't waste this place on a family trip - too many picky eaters. 😂
Will definitely be trying the chocolate bao!
So happy you have a new place to eat. And that it's good. I also heard the garlic and string beans are very good. More chocolate is what I like to hear. Awesome review. I'm glad it was a hit.
the garlic green beans are the best! I went to the Friends & Family soft opening in NYC and it was amazing!
Sounds like we need to try the green beans next time.
Your videos have been such a g-dsend for us. 🙏
Glad to hear. Thanks for watching
I will 100% go and try out next time I’m there! Wow, that looked amazing!
Oh my gosh!!! My family was just there at Disneyland!! Going back!!!
Love Din Tai Fung! Their pork chop fried rice is pretty good and of course the XLBs are a must. Also love the broccoli with garlic, as well as the string beans.
Glad it’s finally open; I’ll have to check it out in a few weeks.
Thank you for the review, we are going to our first Disneyland trip in August. Your presentation of the food items were great.
I can’t believe how much the kids have grown! They seem like lovely children
Thank you
Looks so good! Wish I could get a reservation.
Keep checking and you can always try a walk-up. They were taking walk-ups at lunch time when they opened.
So fun!!! Thanks for the video guys!
Thank you for the video. Everything looks good 👍 Can't wait to try it.😊
For next time!! You have to order the rice cakes with chicken! It is my absolute favorite thing there!
Thank you so much for the review I am making my reservation now!!!
We love the garlic broccoli and the rice cakes with pork!
I'm so excited to go there! Thank you for your video 😊
Thanks for the video and for reviewing the restaurant! The food looks delicious!
Wow, amazing review. We’re going to Disneyland in October for the Oogie Boogie Bash and we’ll definitely be trying this place out!!! Thank you! 😊
Great video! Definitely going to check out the restaurant and the chocolate!
Thank you so much for your review of this restaurant! I always like to see what your family’s thoughts are on restaurants because we have a young child and knowing whether a restaurant will have things that kids will like is important to me. We will be in Disneyland at the end of August and I have enjoyed many of your videos. We will definitely order more chocolate baos now knowing how much I know we will all enjoy them. Looking forward to trying Din Tai Fung for ourselves.
Looks like a great place to eat. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the video! ❤😊
This Restaurant looks really good! Definitely gonna have to try it next time I go to Disneyland!!! Thanks Travor, Amy, & Boys!
Food looks yummy 😋
So happy to hear this place was a hit, definitely on my list now! 🎉
Definitely on my radar!
Everything that you ordered looked so good and I love how swanky the restaurant looks, especially being new!
Going to Disney the week of Thanksgiving and this restaurant was on my radar. You guys convinced me to go, and to make sure to make reservations.
We’re going to Disneyland in October and we’re definitely going to eat there. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the video 🔥🤙🏽
I can’t wait to try this place!
You should try the pork fried rice next time. Also the broth soups are really good.
Love watching your videos.
Looks like you got some sun lol. It all looks so good
Hi there, met you guys at Downtown Disney, I believe it was the same day that you made this video. Thanks for stopping and taking a picture, wife and I love watching your videos. 👍🏽
The milk boba tea is so good
The string beans and cucumber appetizer are also so good!
We all love dumplings, when we go to Disney later this year we’ll try to eat there for sure - I’ve been wanting to try Din Tai Fung for a while but not enough to drive an hour to the one closest to us in Santa Clara.
So happy they brought this restaurant to Disneyland! We have them here in Washington State and love their food! If you think the chocolate bao is delicious, try the sesame mochi bao, my favorite! Also, try the sweet and sour baby back ribs. They melt in your mouth! 😋
Looks good
I love your you tube. I am coming to Disneyland next April
Thank you for the video
Looks yummy!
When I was there, they were still building it. Sorry, it wasn't ready when I was there, but I appreciate the review!
The waiter in the back knew not to interrupt you 😂😂😂
Been numerous times at the one in Las Vegas. Love it
We missed the opening by a few weeks. Now back home on Guam. We will have to try next time. Looks Yummy!
Love din tai fung! ❤
Garlic green beans is amazing
We both said we’ll probably get them next time.
We’re headed back to the parks end of august and have a down day between park days. Thinking we’ll book a meal here and hang out at DTD! Looks like reservations are 30 days out? Just set an alert to try to snag one (just like I did for our reservations IN the parks. Haha!) Thanks for sharing your fun review. 😊
I want to go now!👍
I was just going to recommend the STRING BEANS until you mentioned it at the end! You must get them next time!! I don't want to overhype it but they are literally the best string beans I've ever had in my life!
And we agree about the spicy wontons! I'm not even a spicy loving person but I looove those spicy wontons! I also prefer them over the regular xialong baos, the flavor is just phenomenal!
And yessss so glad you had the chocolate xiaolong baos! I can definitely eat a whole order to myself! They are soooo good!
So glad you guys finally got to try Din Tai Fung! And I can't believe you haven't been to the one in San Diego yet! I live around the area too and have been a few times since its opening so I know it's been around for a few years because the first time we went, we didnt have kids yet! 😅 I'm getting hungry now so I may have to pay a visit soon!
What’s delish is if you drizzle some of that spicy wonton sauce onto the fried rice. So good!
I actually was already thinking about going there in August. Now, I definitely will. I don’t like chocolate but my boys do. I‘m totally into Asian food though! 🎉
Oooohhhh
I think the pricing is about inline with a resort. The pricing is similar to the Din Tai Fung at Aria in Las Vegas. Although the last time we went there was 2 years ago.
I’ll have to try this place sometime. Not sure if the chocolate bao counts as a Disney food if you can get it anywhere and I’m skeptical if it’s really better than the dole whip float, but I do love molten chocolate cakes, so we’ll see!
Nice happy family
Definitely add some chili oil to the soy sauce next time. Game changer! Gives it a nice kick. We are so lucky to have one of these in Sydney about 5 minutes drive from our home 🤤
The chili oil on the spicy wontons was amazing, so we’ll try it in the dip mixture next time.
I wana go!
It’s nice they showed you how to eat it properly cause bao straight to mouth would have been really bad 🤣 I did that when I was young and oh boy 😅
We were thankful for the instruction sheet and the lesson from our server
There’s one at south coast plaza 2 hour wait list
They just opened one up in times square nyc this week

Traver, really good - Above average
Kids, GOOD! - Leave us alone Dad, we want to go on rides!
I heard that the string beans are amazing
We’ve heard that too, which means we’ll get them next time.
The food at DTF in Seattle is pretty good, but its kind of expensive. I'd rather get normal Dim Sum at a regular Chinese restaurant. Have you been to "Tim Ho Wan"? Their BBQ pork bun is very good, probably the best I've had. There used to be one located Irvine, they can be expensive too, but they have a happy hour.
Wonderful - we want to go in Sept. do you know the time of day they drop the reservations for the next day on the calendar? I think it’s before 6am but that’s the earliest I’ve looked. I can tell that the dinner reservations go fast
Not sure- though when I looked at 8am this morning, a few random days had lunch times available.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thanks! I'll keep checking and I'll figure it out eventually. cheers
@@SoCalDisneyDad Hello - crazy me - I learned that they drop their new reservation openings at midnight 1 month ahead. I tested it. We have to get a reservation for a big group on a specific day of our trip, so I'll be up at midnight 30 days out booking it. Thanks!
From Michigan
I was born in Flint but I moved to escape the winters!
What’s the process in trying to get a reservation? Everything looked amazing
Through yelp, but it looks like they are fully booked out for the next month. Not sure what time they release the next days reservations.
@@SoCalDisneyDad oh man. Thank you for the reply 😊
does anyone know if parks will be closed or even ride attractions shut down as cast members and employees from disneyland will go on strike?
No soup dumplings?? Missing out.
Its good food but very small portions for the prices they charge at this location.
How did you make the reservation? With 30days prior on Yelp, I have hard time getting a table. Its literally full for all hours!!!
We made it as soon as they announced they were opening, but did it through yelp too. Looks like we maybe got lucky.
it must be the best new restaurant as it is the only new restaurant
In the last year Disneyland has opened Cafe Daisy, Tiana's Palace, Paseo, Centrico, Tiendita, and now Din Tai Fung.
Hi Trevor, what neck fan are you using?
@@SuperHeroMomAlex it’s just a no name brand from Amazon, but I like it. Here’s the link: amzn.to/3VOb4Cs
To clarify - you ordered the Chocolate & Mochi XLB (5 pcs) and not the Chocolate Buns (2 pcs)? How was the cream, needed? Was the garlic and green beans a shareable side? It seems pricy for an individual side (unless you're a vegetarian I guess). Thanks for the honest review!!
Correct, yes, the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, I believe I wrote the item name in the video. The sea salt cream just added a nice dip for it. For $1 it's definitely worth it, and large enough if you order multiple Chocolate XLBs it'll last, so you don't need to order the cream again.
All of the items are sized the way you saw in the video. So the green beans would be a portion similar to the noodles or the rice.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thanks, you're right, the words are on the screen! That would be a lot of green beans, but sounds delicious. My husband now wants to go here and Goofy's Kitchen! :)
Was the salted cream sauce a worth addition, or were the chocolate baos just as good without it?
@@parissinclair6513 100% worth it. For $1 extra, I wouldn’t have them any other way.
How were you able to make reservations? I check every day and can never find any. Wondering if I’m missing something
We snagged one as soon as they announced they were available, so I’m not sure what the trick is now.
Did they give adults forks or just chopsticks? We are planning to go there when we visit so I was just wondering
I’m sure you could ask for one.
What happened with the sea salt cream?
We used it to dip our chocolate bao in. It was worth the extra $1 in our opinion.
How do u get reservations?
@@LJC123 Amy did it through Yelp. Though I’ve heard it’s super popular and all the reservations are gone. And no one really knows when they drop new ones. But they do accept walk ups. I would just be there right at 11:30 when they open.
@@SoCalDisneyDad thanks much 😊
The acoustics are not good. It seems so loud in there just on the video.
When are you doing Wild Rivers with your buddy big red journeys video🤔👍📲🌊🎢
