  • Materials Informatics definitely has a data problem! Compared to many other domains Materials Informatics has small, heterogeneous data sets. However, over time this has been improving! In this video, we go over many of the common materials data repositories. We talk about FAIR data principles to ensure that data is findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. We cover DFT databases like OQMD, AFLOW, and Materials Project as well as general databases like Materials Data Facility and Citrination as well as many smaller niche datasets published in outlets like Data in Brief or Integrating Materials and Manufacturing Innovation. Finally, we talk about benchmark data sets including matbench and others and then the different materials data file formats available including .cif, .pif, and .gemd
