CARAT is their fandom name. SVT has this whole theme about diamonds, so the fandom name is Carat because the carat is what makes a diamond shine lol

Seventeen is a group that are always working so hard to the point it actually makes me worry about the members. They’re so passionate and I’ve actively followed them for 5 years and they’re always working because they enjoy what they do. They’re people that thrive when they’re creating and even when they’re on “breaks” they’re preparing for their next album. Though they have a lot of members and you’re like “how can they function with so many people” it’s because each member has their own strength and focus on certain aspects of the group creatively whether it comes to songwriting, producing, choreographing, and even entertainment. They all have their roles and work like a “well-oiled machine”. (They’ve literally been self-producing since they were trainees as woozi mentioned. Hoshi and the other members of their performance team have contributed so much to their choreographies especially on their b-sides. All the members have contributed to songwriting and it’s all because they’ve done this and have been together since most of them were barely teenagers.)
They’re a group that has steadily achieved more and more success from debut until now. In the days where more 3rd gen groups are fading and more 4th gen groups are blowing up with the standards for kpop are changing, Seventeen are one of the only groups (along with bts ofc) that show no sign of slowing down. They break more and more of their own records with every single comeback and even though they’re almost in their 9th year they’ve been so consistent to the point where people are amazed at how the members still work and have the same energy as rookies.
They’re people that I have a lot of pride in? Not even as artists who are ALWAYS at the top along with BTS for my most listened to every year, but as people who love the work they do. BTS was my first group and my ults and I actually discovered Seventeen through Jungkook’s friendship with 3 of seventeen’s members (their 97line) and then I saw Jin talking to one of seventeen’s maknaes Seungkwan, so I was like “who are these guys? They seem very fun and give good vibes” then I discovered them and found out how incredible each member is and they easily became my second ult group.

I think BTS and SEVENTEEN know each other well and know each others’ music really well too. I think the industry was a lot more tight-knit back in the day. During 3rd gen there was the term ‘EBS’ used a lot by the media, standing for EXO-BTS-SEVENTEEN, because they were the biggest groups at the time. All 3 are still HUGE in Korea obviously. SEVENTEEN had 4,66Million pre-orders alone with this album FML, they’re at the peak of their career right now.

I only recently realized that the group of friends JK is always with. The 97s also include a few Seventeen members! So much I still don’t know. 💜 I love learning new stuff so appreciate now understanding what the heck that EBS acronym means! I’d seen it and had no clue 🤣

As a huge fan of both BTS and Seventeen, I was very excited for this!
Thought I'd answer some of the questions you had about Seventeen in the video and give some general info so here we go:
Seventeen is a 13 member group!! A lot of people ask why there aren't 17 members because of their name but for a quick rundown:
13 members + 3 units (performance/dance, vocal, hip-hop) + 1 team = 17! Woozi is the vocal unit leader (each unit has a leader, but S.coups is the primary leader of the group who is also in charge of the hip-hop unit). They debuted in 2015, so they've been around for a while.
Seventeen and BTS have very similar stories actually! Both produce their own music and came from small companies that were struggling a lot financially, so they started as underdogs. Some of Seventeen's members are also in the "97 liners" friend group with Jungkook.
Seventeen self produces in other ways as well, their member Hoshi works on and creates a lot of choreography for the group as well. He was the member that was on an earlier episode of Suchwita. They're all very talented and have a great discography! Something they're well-known for is their dancing and choreo, specifically the fact that they are extremely synchronized. They're also very lovely and funny people.
Their discography is honestly huge. Their newest comeback is their 10th mini-album and they have 4 full length albums as well (not even including singles and solo releases... plus the BSS sub-unit songs).

@@DiaryOfAKPOPIntrovert Sorry for the late reply! I'm not sure what songs in particular, but they have a great mix of energetic and more emotional songs. Honestly if you want to start off somewhere with them I would say to listen to their recent 2 albums, Face the Sun and FML. All of their title tracks are great so feel free to just start with those if going through B-sides is overwhelming! I also personally really enjoy their Semicolon and Teenage albums. Here are some of my favorite and their most iconic songs though:
      Title Tracks:
      - Adore U (debut)
      - Don't Wanna Cry
      - Very Nice
      - Hot
      - Clap
      - _World
      - Home;Run
      - Ready to Love
      - Rock With You
      - Fear
      - Left & Right
      - Falling Flower
      - Fighting (BSS subunit song)
      - Super and FML (recent titles from newest comeback)
      B-Sides (includes some unit songs):
      - Lilili Yabbay
      - Habit
      - Kidult
      - Ah! Love
      - Pinwheel
      - Trauma
      - Shadow
      - Don Quixote
      - Oh my!
      - My I
      - Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day
      - Bittersweet (Wonwoo and Mingyu Duet ft. Leehi)
I hope the long list isnt too overwhelming! Feel free to pick whichever songs seem the most interesting since I know I dropped a lot haha. Thank you for considering checking them out!

Thank you for reacting to SEVENTEEN. They're such a comfort group for me. I won't bore you with information that others have already said, and I noticed that no one really replied to your question about what song to start with.
I would recommend starting with their most recent comeback titles since Woozi played a snippet of them already, then move on to a guide (the general recommendation for guides is the Super Long SVT guide) and for lyric videos, the channel < seventeenlyrics >.
The comeback has a double title, so 'FML' and 'Super'. The MV for FML just dropped; song-wise it's based on what Woozi said, a tribute to everyone around the world, and the MV's based on the Truman Show. Super, Korean title 'Sonogong', is more about SEVENTEEN's ambition as a group and based on the mythical Chinese legend The Monkey King, aka Sun Wukong. Sonogong is the Korean translation. There are also some Dragon Ball Z references, which fits well since the MC of the anime is based on the Monkey King too. Carats say that Woozi must have had a blast writing Super since he's a huge weeb, Mr 6-Hour-Anime-Ranking-Live.
As Woozi said, SEVENTEEN has a huge and wide discography but I'd narrow down into two categories: Energetic, danceable songs (they're unofficially known as the Theatre Kids of Kpop and they do not disappoint in music performance, variety content or just the general theatre kid need to be collectively dramatic and loud) and comfort songs. They really know how to nail the emotions right in the head and their wide collection of healing and comforting music (mostly b-sides) is the reason I love them so much, aside from everything else. The two title songs from the new comeback are, imo, the perfect embodiment of the two things SEVENTEEN are good at (discrography-wise): relatable and comforting music, and passionate, powerful performances.
If you have time, or are looking for some fun, witty variety content, definitely check up GOING SEVENTEEN, their variety show. It's on a completely different level of idol variety shows; they indisputably rank NO. 1 because it's so public-friendly, though it's way funnier when you know all the inside jokes. Beware the ears: they are many and they are LOUD. GOSE even has its own fanbase CUBIC (ie. synthesised diamonds as opposed to CARAT, the measurement unit of gemstones), who are fans of SEVENTEEN's variety content but not their music. The pipeline from CUBIC to CARAT is generally inevitable though.
There's a lot to get through, but this is the starter pack. Don't worry about trying to take it in all at once; take your time slipping into the diamond life.

Thank you for reacting to Seventeen (SVT). BTS was what got me into Kpop because they performed in New York City in Grand Central Station, which is my hometown. While I was searching for more BTS content on CZcams I found SVT and I became interested in them because they had a member named Jeonghan. I instantly became fascinated with him because I thought he was a female, and he was so pretty. However, turns out he was not a female, but a male. I started to listen to their music and found out I like them, but I was hesitant to join the fandom because there were 13 members compared to 7 members in BTS. It was hard enough learning 7 names, imagine learning 13 names, but I eventually fell in love with all 13 of them through their music and watching their variety show called Going SVT (GoSe). Although it was BTS that got me into Kpop, it was SVT that made me a Kpop fan.

    @iforgotmyadderall1690 Před rokem +12

Oh the famous "why are they called seventeen if they're only thirteen members?", it's a fair question tho. The explanation is 13 members + 3 units(vocal, hiphop and performance) + 1 whole group = 17. The original plan was probably to have 17 members but they ended up with 13 and since they already had promoted pre-debut with that name they kept it and made an explanation

I’m actually one of the reverses as in I’m primarily a carat who has checked out the two Suchwita episodes (Hoshi+Woozi) because of SVT. And I actually really ended up liking Suga. The thing is obviously I know BTS and there are many of their songs I’ve liked over the years but I’ve always been an casual listener of Kpop. I was more in kdramas and K-OSTs. Hence I never got into groups but if I liked a song I’d listen to it on repeat. Similar with seventeen, I came across them in 2019 through and webdrama OST and really liked it. And I came across their song Don’t Wanna Cry in 2020 and it’s been my ringtone since, because I really liked it. I’ve listened to some other svt songs after that too (mostly OSTs). But I only became a Carat in 2022. My sister had showed me 2 eps of Going Seventeen and used to talk about them a lot. She’s an army turned multistan. And then I heard her listen to their song Circles and that was a breaking point. Circles+The members made me into a carat finally!~ And as you mentioned you’re learning and discovering so much through BTS, that’s the same case with me just through Seventeen! Hope you get to check out seventeen sometime~ ❤

I know the it feels weird part for sure. I've always loved music regardless of the language probably because I love learning different languages but this feeling of how much joy k-pop music and culture has brought into my life since diving into it is the part that feels completely different and often odd. I think it's probably because we haven't been lucky enough to find those people around us in our day-to-day lives to share it with. So it feels extra weird having to search long and far for that connection. I think about people who have friends and family in their lives who love it as much as they do and how normal, common that feeling of obsession would be for them. Glad we connected though, K-PopK-Drama 💜. And I'm 38 ::said as I sing 'Forever Young' to myself:: 😂
